My guide on installing the backup camera on a Mercedes Sprinter which you can buy in the UK via the link below. Amazon (UK) - amzn.to/2ZsWvd1 Removing headliner - • INSTRUCTIONAL - Detail... WEBSITE workshoplateral.com
Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for this. After trying and failing 5 times to install different cameras I found your video and I now have a working reverse camera. So easy to follow! Thank you!
Monitor black to chassis ground. Monitor green to loom wiring white and blue Monitor red to loom wiring red(?) Camera red to white and blue Camera black(?) to chassis ground I think that's what I've gleaned from the video. Please correct me if that's wrong!
I have the same camera and it came with a 12 volt relay which makes the 12 volt connection to the camera and monitor. The relay is activated by the Yellow reversing cable/wire.
How did you get the wire from the new camera lens through to the van when you fitted the brake light fitting from the old light to the new? Did you cut a Grove in the new fitting? Can't see any other way of fitting???
You need to connect into the Orange wire on a sprinter van for a ignition switched live feed, connecting into a permanent red wire will cause a slight parasitic draw on your starting battery if you park the van up for a while.
If you've connected this at both end to a switched live, how does this drain the battery? Or does the camera need a direct 12v feed? Great series btw. :)
Same as michaelsintown, I thought you had given up too, good to see you are still continuing with your conversion. The reverse camera thing was the first thing I did on my Crafter. I wired mine in as a rear view mirror, comes on with my ignition, and off when engine not running. Ive been looking for those wire splice things, have you a link to the type you used?
Hey yeah, I've got a lot of work on until around Xmas but the plan is to finish the build by next summer... btw if you type 'Flat Connector Power Thief' into eBay you'll find the connectors from the vid
@@WorkshopLateral managed to find some, but ended up getting a refund as they got lost, so purchased another pack from another ebay seller. Im driving to the UK this coming Wednesday, someone smashed into my van causing some damage high up on the rear box section, see here flic.kr/p/2hhyj1U My insurance here in Finland want to write it off, and with quotes locally from €5k to €15k, a friend in the UK is going to repair it at a fraction of the cheapest quote of €5k
Anybody had this problem I've just fitted a camera kit to my 2019 sprinter it works perfectly until you start the van then it goes fuzzy and then goes off completely any ideas
Thank you for this video. It is really helpful. I have a question about the switch - the switch seems to have been added to the circuit for the monitor, not the camera. Is this correct and does this mean the monitor has a ghost drain too? With the feed for the camera being from the reversing light feed, it will not have power unless reverse gear is selected, and therefore no drain. Please correct me if I have misunderstood. Thanks.
If you would just connect the red and green wire of the monitor both to the reverse light (white-blue) wire, wouldn't that solve the problem of the ghost drainage and still only activate the system in reverse?
