Horse Racing simply doesn't get better than this. The moment when Sprinter Sacre rounds the home turn and starts to pull away from Un De Sceaux sends shivers down my spine.
Here I am, back in 2022, ready to smile again. I've seen some great sporting achievements over the years however, I'm not sure many, if any gives me as much pleasure as this one 😁
Can you imagine an all time great human athlete, maybe the best ever at his event having a heart problem, taking time off, but then carrying on, getting rubbished for being no good anymore and then 3 years later being the best again? I cannot. Mind bending training performance and the best 2 mile chase horse I have ever seen.
Totally agree with everything you say. The most magnificent two mile chaser I've ever seen. Perhaps only Flyingbolt rivals him. But that horse was just slightly before my time.
Absoutely brilliant. Special Tiara would go one better a year later while Un De Scaeux would win the Ryanair Chase. The last three champions in a cracking renewal here.
Maybe the greatest achievement, performance, story ever seen on a race course - and by far the most memorable performance I've ever known.. The legendary Black Aeroplane - the best 2mile chaser there's ever been! :)
The bit that always sends shivers through me is when Simon Holt gets his words muddled when he hears the crowd start to roar, he knew exactly what was about to happen
I was there at the finishing post, I just knew it, that he was gonna win it! That day I was telling the punters, it's sprinters day, many didn't agree, but the outcome said it all!! Was so happy! 👌👍

What an amazing performance after all he had been through. I was in the parade ring that day and the reception he got on his return was quite incredible. Spinetingling stuff. Wonderful commentary from Simon Holt as well.
Wow. Just wow. What a horse. What a race. What a Champion. Thanks for the upload :) Have to give a quick shout to Nico de Boinville. In my lifetime I dont remember such nervous expectation about a horse or race. Pretty sure Henderson, the owners and most of the country wanted SS to get his title back but we all had those injury doubts. It must have crossed NDB mind to sit in behind UDS 3 fences out and try to nurse him to the line but he chose to go past UDS like the Sprinter of old, and that move and jump at the second last sealed it. Good jockey for sure. Fantasy race...SS, Altior and Viking Flagship (my favourite champion chaser from yesteryear)....im not sure who id be cheering for.
Funny when people compare sprinter and altior. A fully fit sprinter would make hay of altior. Best 2 mile chaser ever. There horses that sprinter beat by 15 or 20 lengths who would cause altior all sorts of problems.
Sprinter sacre was great.But what a fighter Un De sceaux was.At any other time Un De sceaux would have been a worthy winner of the queen mother,as he was better than many horses that have won that race.
I have watched this race so many times so glad I was there to witness it live! When I watch this it makes me feel so good, what a horse, fortunate enough to visit him last week still looked the part
I bet ruby walsh never thought he would see that horse go past him and he had nothing to offer in return. I smile everytime I see this race and the comments by the so called experts think ted walsh called sprinter sacre (not sure) a donkey or has been, oops got that wrong didn't you walshy
Going on this years Cheltenham and how easily he beat the two behind him last year I think he would of definitely won that race again. Just glad I was there to see him win that race and had a nice pay out too
And do be perfectly honest he wasnt within 2 stone of hes victory in 2013 in 2012 2013 there aint been a better chaser over 2 mile since flyingbolt back then He was invincible
having just watched the 2017 qmchase, if SS had still been in training he would have whipped Special Tiara. I would be interested to see what the time differences were between the two races. I know NH said it was a small tendon tear, but I wished he had kept SS in training. He was a mighty horse at racing, Nothing not even dovan could have stayed with him,. Just sorry to see him go at such a young age. Today the racing community are a lost easier on horses. Phar Lap ran 3 times in 5 days back in the 30's and won all his 3 races, so perhaps we are not going the horses the chance to prove themselves when they get to 10 yrs old. nowadays.
Thanks, so it proves that a horse at the age of 10 CAN run faster than in his youth. I think he is/was a super horse. Wish they have kept him training for another year. I know he had heat in his tendon, but as it wasn't that serious a tendon strain I think he could have won this years QMS. and equalled Brewgan record of 3 wins.
Barbara Dyson Nicky said in 2016 that Sprinter could gallop all day long. Nico would've adopted the same tactic. Sat on Tiara's shoulder and surged past him up the hill. In my opinion anyway
go to rte boylesports experts get it all wrong, liam nash was quite uncomplimentary about the race he said it was substandard and that SS couldn't been a donkey. they all said Un de sceau would win with the others nowhere. OOPS all got that wrong didn.t they
shame the race isn't shown, but the celebration chase at sandown was a nightmare for uds. because SS beat uds again, but this time by 15 lengths. and everyone say uds is a super horse. Eh. how
Michael lawler, well all the experts wrote sprinter sacre off as a has been and according to them un de sceaux couldn't be beaten, oops how wrong and he got slaughtered by ss in the celebration chase, to date he is the only horse to have won the Clarence house 3 times, old menorah won can't remember the name of the race at sandown, it was before the whitebread gold cup or celebreation chase, for the 4th time at the old age of 11 and the year before he beat valsellair of how ever you spell the name.
Michael lawler, you obviously did not read what I wrote, where did I say uds was a bad horse, but if you listen to all the horse racing experts they all said ss was a has been and couldn't beat uds, so who was right. Always look at the horses see how the walk see how they behave etc, then make an assessment ss had done everything right up to the qmc, but still the experts wouldn't have it. well they got clobbered.
