Star key is called torx, bar you removed is called the upper core support, computer part is the mass air flow sensor (measures the amount of air moving into the engine.)
Mass air flow sensor is on the other side connected to the air filter. You removed the intake air temp sensor (the one you pinch to remove), and the MAP sensor or boost pressure sensor (the one with the two bolts). Nice job !
ONLY ONE REASON MB MAKES DIFFERENT ATTATCHMENTS. IT IS TO CONFUSE AND DISCOURGE DIY SO THEIR DEALERS CAN TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF WE THE PEOPLE? A FRIEND MENTIONED IT! LOL...
"Little computer thing", "little dish"! Exactly the kind of terminology I'd use! Great to see you just having a try - most people would be too afraid of screwing something up, but this is the best way to learn. Nice one Kaya!
Polymath = an individual whose knowledge spans a significant number of subjects, known to draw on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems. You my lady are a polymath!
I'm impressed by Kaya's gumption, being willing to undertake such fix attempts. I'd be interested if she can say what ECU post codes led her in the direction of turbo boost problems, instead of transmission problems. Also, for others, I think this particular fix can be done without removing all those front grill / headlight pieces. Especially if you start by removing the upper hose and the sensor mount, then improve your access to the bottom hose clamp. It helps to have the right tools for getting into tight places, like 1/4" socket set. I'll be performing this fix soon and report if I find differently.
found you on the upper hose vid. Nicely done. This one even better with 10x more work, and you've saved me a bunch of time now too. Think I will replace the entire run at one go as it comes as one piece. Subbed
Hi Kaya, I loved your video.I was able to change all the turbo hoses. Two weeks ago the hose from the turbo resonator to the inter-cooler slipped off during a long steep climb-luckily I didn't lose the clamp. I was able to reattach it on the roadside. I decided to replace all the boost hoses on the 06 Sprinter. Thanks, Jerry from Colorado
Thanks, your video made it so easy. I hadn't taken the headlight or grill out yet. It's so f#cking easy. I have built racecars from a pile of chromoly tubing (chassis) and gallons of resin (body) but this is just foreign to me, Thanks again
Honestly been trying to get used to my sprinter van engine and your "less professional" terminology is actually helping a lot. Way less stressful and understandable when coming from a non-professional. Keep making these!
I replaced part of mine a few years ago because there was a tear in the upper hose. I replaced the lower part because I was working through a list of things that could cause my van to go into limp mode!
Thanks for the way you demystify car mechanics. I get that not all things are this doable, but it's always nice to learn a few tricks which may avoid costly repairs.
I do my best to troubleshoot things when it seems achievable. A lot of car maintenance is pretty easy! But sometimes I come across things that are way over my head, and thats when I know it's time to take it to the mechanic.
This was the first problem my sprinter had when i bought it! Couldn't believe the mechanics just thought it had a bad turbo. Also, yes wish i had gloves too, my hands were black after, lol!
@@KayaLindsay Do you're maintenance. 285,000 on the clock need to change out this hose in the morning. Currently on a road trip. Thanks for the tips. Can I get some Sprinter to Sprinter roadside assistance. ;)
I didn't have to remove the dish part as you call it. I replace the upper and lower hose as it came as one assembly. I was advised to replace the hose on the turbo side to the inter-cooler at the same time as it is also a high pressure hose. I haven't yet but have the part just in case. Where do you go in Reno for service as I go through there 4 time a year. I have a 2006 Dodge Sprinter.
Dwight Schrute unfortunately I didn’t replace my own transmission! But I should have a few videos up about general maintenance and fixings I’ve done in the next few weeks 😁
