The new growth on spruce can offer a tasty and nutrient filled treat. Warning! Never use any wild plant in any way before checking with your local expert and doctor.
reminds me of my childhood years! my parents would take us along into the woods to pick those tips, though they were not blue spruce, but same characteristcs. we'd make tea and mom would preserve some in sugar, our cold medicine for winter. I can still smell and taste them!
They taste like crap, tho i like teas with them, not as bitter and strong. lol but your right and i have eaten them before as well. Good source of vitamines. Thanks for the video, i have done the same with fir buds as well.
Kullcraven Bushcraft Yea they are definitely not for everybody. I have eaten some nasty stuff in the wild though and these to me aren't too bad. I agree though that they are best as tea. That fish we cooked though was quite nice.
