I have a question: if I self publish a novel, but I take down the book and do some major developmental edits, can I still query the book? How do I convince them that my manuscript is an almost new book from the original self published novel? Will agents turn away that it has already been self published?
You can just query it as a new book. The only reason it would deter agents is if the book has a significant amount of negative reviews (successfully self-published books can actually HELP your chances of landing an agent/getting traditionally published - it's proof you can sell books). You don't have to tell them this novel is a rewrite or new of a book you self published if you don't want to
@@selfpublishingTV is it better to be upfront about my self publishing history or disclose the information after the agent is interested? Keep in mind that if the agent searches up my name, they’ll find a book. However, I also edited my manuscript to the point where it’s unrecognizable and practically a new book with a new title. What do you think?
@@Otterwriter245 If they're interested and want to know about your audience/history, then sure, let them know. but if it's a different book/title and you're taking the other down, i think it's not quite necessary
