Spurgeon: A Peculiar Man 

The truth of Christ has been under attack since the beginning. Periodic lapses in morals and faith with surges following revival. You are very right about the danger facing the world today but take comfort in your own faith and a world that is growing in Christian faith, even as ours seems to be lapsing. And I do say seems because people, and I’m not saying you, have thought Christ was down for the count many times but He’s not going away any time soon. Shalom

@@gigiis526, the numbers are actually growing in many areas and pointing at a secular world is not a solution but merely an observation. You’re not looking into the facts that really matter. The main thing being, Christ faith saves and there is a growth among philosophers and scientists in faith. People like Dr. Hugh Ross, Dr. William Lane Craig are helping. I can’t change the world, only Yahweh can do that.

@@gigiis526 You are right, GiGi, in my opinion. The Lord Jesus asked, rhetorically, 'Shall I find faith on the earth when I return? 'It is no doubt a fact that many will be saved before the Lord returns, but the world as a whole is getting worse and worse. Laws are being continually passed that liberate wickedness and abominations, and attack Christian freedoms of speech, testimony and conscience. The judgements of Revelation are very soon coming upon this God-forsaking, Christ-denying world. Those who are clamouring for a one world government and a lawless world will have their way, for a limited time, but they will soon realise that their dream has become a nightmare when the evil global dictator, the man of sin,.cruelly punishes any dissent from his authority. Yet still they will not repent.

My sentiment exactly. One could EASILY look about at the world surrounding us today and make the EXACT SAME OBSERVATIONS!!

One good thing to come out of all this technology we are forced to live with is that we can hear Charles Spurgeon sermons. Of course they are read by someone else but just being able to hear them has been a blessing to me especially as I’m getting on in years and my eyesight isn’t the best.

And of the course....the greatest preacher....Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones 😊

I've been reading Morning and Evening every day for many years. I read it right before my Bible reading.

I am more attentive to his knowledge of the Word of God….the accent is nice on the ear but his teaching is convicting on the heart.

Thank you! It's nice to tell others about Spurgeon, so they may listen to his teachings and preaching if they like, but it seems as though this message was about praising Spurgeon (which he would not like), and CHRIST was an honorable mention. I see a lot of this in Calvinism.

Didn't matter, if he smoked or not -that is not the GOSPEL. Those who condemn, will be condemned.

@@kimberleerivera3334 I understand and might agree with you but my dad died of emphysema because he was a chain smoker. I thank the Lord that my husband, a non believer, quit smoking when he realized second hand smoke is worse than what the smoker himself inhaled with a filter. He quit for our grandson, soon after he was born. I don’t condemn my dad or any other smoker who didn’t know, thanks to the MSM cover up, how he was harming others as well as himself, but I think God will judge those who continue smoking just because,unlike my husband, they are not brave enough to quit. Here in El Salvador, you know, if you see someone smoking in the park, that he/she is a foreigner. People are the most valuable material treasure here.

@@annbrucepineda8093 - There are so very many other substances, drugs given by doctors, etc... and they kill too. The gas coming out of cars tailpipes are worse than cigarettes. People still drive and no one points a finger at them.

The fact that alcohol is called "spirits" speaks volumes. The temptation to turn to it as a social elixir and to numb emotional pain is so strong and so many souls are set up & vulnerable to alcoholic spirits in their generational blood lines. @@HearGodsWord Yes I believe God gave us 1 Bible. God wrote only one Bible (pdf), is also de title of a good book wich explains that our our God is not a fool. He is able to give us 1 good Bible and not hundreds of which some even have thousands of words less. Therefore many people doubt His word. I have no doubt, all glory to Him. Study this subject, let yourself be convinced only by His word and Spirit. There is a rich blessing in this, think of the Reformation. May the Lord richly bless you.

The advice I've heard is that the best Bible is the one written in the original language, with a thorough understanding of first century context. Most off us can't do that. The next best thing is to read multiple versions of the Bible. With a good understanding of first century context.

To speak of a preacher from the past is by no means creating a cult. Lots of people speak of past preachers and authors. That just means that they appreciate them and their work. 😁😁

A man said the Bible is the story of thousands of people's lives that were changed by God's salvation. The Bible also says that they are examples to us. I suggest you read spurgeons sermons on revival 1859 I believe. God is the judge
