@@a.p.5825Seeing as how he rolled his ankle and walked it off like it was nothing, he will be fine. Why are you even thinking of a possible downfall when he has showed anything BUT that. He’s literally getting stronger and better.
He's 7'4 with an 8 foot wingspan and yet he's a low percentage shooter. 9th in the team in FG%, 11th in eFG%, and yet has been taking the most attempts per game. Turns the ball over more than Vassel and Johnson combined. I know he's young but he's always been a low percentage shooter even against lower level competition
@ramrocker1004 they arent worried about winning rn. They're worried about experimenting with lineups and seein what players will make the cut to play with wemby. Spurs have the highest cap space in the league AND the second most first round picks for making big trades and drafting new talent. On top of that they will get another lottery pick this year due to their record. Spurs are quietly building something incredible.
@@r33th winning is a habit, a culture. They're not creating a good culture right now. Building up Wembanyama's confidence at the expense of the rest of the team makes unhappy team mates.
@@ramrocker1004 how is it at the expense of the team? Spurs are #2 in the league in assists. I watch every Spurs game and guys like Vassel, Jones, Wesley, and Branham are improving hugely from the team basketball being played. Team basketball which has been the Spurs culture for decades. If you want to talk about "winning culture", the Spurs ARE winning culture. 21 straight playoffs appearances, and Coach Pop is the winningest coach of all time. You know the Spurs were the worst team in the league in 97 when they drafted Duncan, and won the championship 2 years later? The Spurs know what they're doing dude.
@@r33th Let's see what they look like next year. Maybe there will be some key improvements on the court. But this year it cannot be denied that their record is worse with the top draft pick in a generation than it was last year without him. That bears some explanation other than "they don't care about winning". The troubling thing I notice is that Wemby, Pop, and Wemby fans all seem satisfied with his style of play, even though there are three glaring weaknesses: (1) He relies way too much on outside shooting to score, with the occasional opportunistic dunk, resulting in low efficiency, rather than owning the paint on offense at 7'4". (2) He can't stop other team's centers (if they are any good), and instead turns into a help defender who gets his blocks that way, without slowing down the other team's scorers. (3) He shrivels up in fourth quarters, as other teams pull away to win. Happened again tonight.
Victor Wembanyama joins Hakeem Olajuwon (4x) as the only players in NBA history to record 25+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists, 5+ steals, and 5+ blocks in a game. With his performance tonight, Victor Wembanyama becomes the 15th player and the 22nd instance in NBA history to record a 5x5 (PTS-REB-AST-STL-BLK) game, since 1973-74 when blocks and steals became official. At 20y, 50d old, he is the youngest player since tracking began to have such a game (previously: Andrei Kirilenko, 22y, 288d old). He is the second rookie to ever record such a game (Jamaal Tinsley: 11.16.01, IND v MIN - 12 PTS, 15 AST, 9 REB, 6 STL, 5 BLK). It’s the first 5x5 game in the NBA since Jusuf Nurkic totaled 24 PTS, 23 REB, 7 AST, 5 STL, and 5 BLK on Jan. 1, 2019, POR v SAC
Wembys stats yeah great but his passing ability is another level wow. Tbose slip no look pocket passes off the dribble. The touch passes too! Definitely is a generational talent
@@DrKub007 holmgreen is good at his role at the Thunder, victor is just alien man, those stats not just in points and rebounds, but to be good at other stats too, not to mention victor is leading the blocks in the league. 🤯🤯🤯
He was not the star of the night, because he only made two shots in the second half (the second one in garbage time), and only had two rebounds in the second half. His last three blocks were also all in garbage time. The stars of the night were clearly AD and LeBron, who shot more efficiently, put up more points, and dictated the outcome of the game in the second half. Victor will get his stats for years to come, but I'm still waiting for him to matter when it comes to actually winning games in the fourth quarter.
@@richatlarge462 bro I think lebron is the best player tonight, but wemby’s game is super impressive, knowing he only focuses on offense in the first half. He became non factor late when he played off-ball and it was an experiment. The spurs are not trying to win they are experimenting! Why people can’t understand that?? LMAO
@@reynalyndapat6284I don't believe for a second that the Spurs are only experimenting in fourth quarters of close games, as opposed to trying to win those games. Why not experiment for once with Victor trying to be aggressive on offense?
Yes. But he needs to accept a low post offensive game to truly flourish. The Spurs don't need a 7'4 3-point shooter. That's all spectacle and no substance. Let him bully in the post like a big and watch how much the team improves. Save the 3 point game as a last resort.
Comfortable yes, scary no. In fourth quarters he doesn't seem to know what to do. Also, he relies on hitting three-pointers to create his offense. That's not scaring defenses, since his three-point percentage is nothing special (156 out of 163 in the league right now).
This highlight do not give justice for victor’s incredible game. He had 20 points in half time. Then ends up with 27 pts, 10+ rebs, 5 blks, 8 asts, 5 stls…. A FREAKING 5x5 PERFORMANCE Unfortunately, this game confirms the tanking allegations of the spurs. They were playing great basketball, only trailing 7 pts before 4Q. All of a sudden played like a G-League team.
@@j-rey- Nah bro they tanking for real. Its true players suck bad, but there are also games that 100% they can win. No matter how bad the players are, once in a while they will catch fire, like in this game. They even managed to tie in the 3rd Q. Spurs bench is +30. You can see their tanking when they suddenly plays no defense. They all played great D except that 4Q. They can win or make the fight a lot more competitive if they wanted to.
@@j-rey-I mean, wemby had like 18 points in his first 7 minutes, and he does that on a regular basis. He only scored 9 more points for the rest of the game. He takes over games when he wants to, but instead hes prioritizing passing, setting picks, and creating team chemistry. Its clear that if winning was the number one priority they could do it much more often, but rather they treat games as practices/tryouts for the upcoming dynasty. There are a few bad players (Collins, Champagnie, and lately Keldon Johnson) but they are on the right track.
FOH some teams just can't close out games.I know I'm a Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball team fan. They have lead 20 games with 5 minutes left and lost 13 of them.
That's OK, he missed 9 shots and they didn't show that either. But seriously, they focus on made baskets in the highlights. Also the last three blocks were in garbage time, so why show them?
@@richatlarge462 man blocks are blocks dont be so stupid. There’s no such thing as garbage blocks what the hell is that. Besides the game is close 123-118 and garbage time started when victor was pulled out. VICTOR PLAYED A GREAT GAME. Lebron and AD was playing against trash spurs players but got nothing on victor. Oh by the way victor blocked lebron 😂
@@reynalyndapat6284Lol the blocks happened in garbage time with the game decided, Lakers up by 15 with 3 minutes left. After Victor went out (because it was already garbage time), the Spurs narrowed the gap to 5, but it was too late and the outcome was never in doubt. Check the ESPN "play by play" feature. Victor couldn't guard AD or LeBron - why else would he be guarding Rui Hachimura? Yes, he blocked AD once in the second quarter, and LeBron once in the 4th quarter, but ultimately so what? Victor didn't play a great game, he played a great first half. He only made two shots and had two rebounds in the second half, and the Lakers pulled away as he did nothing to stop them. But he finished with a cool box score line.
If he healthy he gonna break some crazy ass records and create some new records that no one achieved. Even if he never wins a ring and just standing in the paint and not moving he will put up 20-5-5 just by existing
The one thing missing is scoring in the paint. He's relying on outside shots and it's not working. Also he can't stop the other team's center. Also he's the league leader in turnovers per 36 minutes. He needs to clean up all these things.
Wow you only look at the score and nvr watch the game. Garbage time points for spurs in the last 3 min. Go cry in the corner 🤡. Skip misses his side piece so you should visit his secret cabin again 😂
Kings only beat the spurs by 5 too last night so that means the kings are trash right? Also pelicans only beat Spurs by 1 points 2 weeks ago so I guess the Pelicans are trash too right? Fucking dumbass
Great game Spurs! I will need to rest my back, legs ,ankles and everything else, the night b4 i play the Spurs, and the night afterward! They are fast-paced ,young players! Like to watch them play, whether they win or lose!!!
Take it in Victor is playing such limited minutes and putting up these numbers. Can you imagine a physically developed, smarter Wemby playing 35 minutes a game? Barring injury, this dudes going to be a top 10 player all time
Probably so. But he's moved up to 30-31 minutes per game. His stats will increase marginally if he plays 35 minutes. But true greatness will only come if he stops hanging out behind the three-point line on offense.
From the looks of things so far Wembanyama will EASILY become the Greatest player this game has ever seen if he keeps up this rate of progress..Lets hope he stays healthy & gets a better team around him
lakers are scary with no one injured and anyone other than LBJ and AD have good games, which has been happening lately. could go far if they play like how they been playing. Also Wemby is ROTY no doubt
@@nWoPorViDa !Sochan might be out of the league by the time he gets to 27. Teams playing him like he has covid. No one wants to guard him past the free throw line.
@@garysalazar5279 I mean, you do you, but that's obviously not true. If you actually watched a game of basketball, sochan is an extremely versatile player, who can knock down the three, play great perimeter and inside defense, and uses his size to bully to the rim on every other play. He can maneuver his way around players in the paint, and has decent passing vision. Saying Sochan will be out of the league by 27 is like saying Michael Jordan only won 2 championships, it's just blatantly not true...
Leboring is aloud to score and make himself look good the nba and Nike tell the other players to let him do what ever he wants for there agendas . Loser league .
100% true ! The NBA is soft now with players just shooting jumpers, that's why I don't hardly watch the NBA no more. If you ever watch the NBA, every team plays the same way, just shooting jumpers, I understand that you have to have guys that can shoot, I get it but everybody shouldn't be shooting jumpers, to me that's being lazy, not working hard, not being creative and not work hard on defense.
I'm a new nba fan from South Africa I made my research and spurs really reasonated with me, even tho we lost I feel the team never gave up was always fighting for the badge. I might be wrong but we need to get more tight in defence. #Newfan to the NBA and Spurs fans.
