What I like about Castle is that he came into Uconn and played team ball. He did what he had to do to ensure that Uconn won their games and finally the championship. You can not teach character and I think he has shown that he is willing to put team first. I am also not certain we have seen the best of him yet. He was a freshman on a national championship team and played the role he needed the play. Have we seen his full game yet? I don't think so. I would love for the Spurs to take him at 4.
I’ve been on the Castle-train since the start because I have so much believe in his work rate and mentality. Kid’s a winner, I really think he can play point guard in the NBA and that he was just used to play the role that UConn needed to win. You can’t teach size and developing defense & bball IQ is much harder than developing shooting and dribbling.
Hi Rich! Yes, yes and yes!! Everybody loves a winner. Jumpshot needs work, but solid mechanics are there. Great fundamentals on perimeter D, the Jrue Holiday comps are real. Will turn 20 late this year so major upside there. Definitely Spur material. Thanks!
I’m starting to like Castle a lot over Dillingham or even Trae. His size alone would be helpful, hopefully in the same mold as SGA or Murray (both Murrays)
Castle is the clear pick at #4 defense wins championships and we need that player that’s gonna make Ant or SGA or Luka work going forward plus if we have a beast on defense on the perimeter and the best defensive big that will sure up our defense for a decade, plus we have the best shooting coaches in the league You can get a wing or big at 8 for depth and go get your franchise pg in the next draft or sign D’Lo

I think Clingan at 8 makes sense, we really need a backup big. If we draft him and keep Zach Collins on the bench, it’ll actually open up Zach’s game too since he’ll be able to play the four
I’m loving these videos. As a long, long time Australian Spurs supporter I can honestly say I dont think I have ever been as interested in the draft. I mean last year we got no.1 so the pick was obvious, but this year I’m excited to see who the Spurs add to the roster to go with Wemby. All these scouting reports are new information for me as we get no college basketball over here. Its hard enough getting to watch the NBA!
I’m convinced the people wanting the Spurs to trade for Trae Young haven’t watched him play the last two years. It’s a great move if you’re playing Myteam on 2K not in real life.
It's a pretty high risk high reward move to take Castle at 4. If the team can develop his jumper to be respectable he's an almost dream PG who could be about as good an option as possible for defending Luka and SGA. If his jumper stays crap you either have to trade him or Sochan and you have missed out on drafting Dillingham, Sheppard, Risacher, or Buzelis, who have little shot of being there at 8.
I thought the same thing this morning after seeing another podcast with a guy who IS at the combine and knows the college players. He thought that castle and rob were a home run.
Yes please! His defense is crazy, and I think not being forced to be the number 1, 2 or 3 option on offense would allow him to learn and develop more thoroughly
If we wanna go to the Nba finals the next 5-7 years… We have to go through Denver. So having somebody like Castle at Pg is the way to go because I don’t see the others pgs available in this draft defending J. Murray. Spur’s roster have to be made thinking going against Denver and Minnesota.
I think we need to build the wings and go with Risacher if he falls at 4 and see what point guards are around at 8. Can always sign Chris Paul to a 1 year deal and get a nice PG next year
...I'm liking buzelis a lot what I've seen...buzelis dillingham risacher Cody williams topic Reed Shepard...haven't seen much of castle but a lot of people have him 4-8...they say this class is weak but there's a lot of good players that he Spurs could pick from and potentially be an all star...at least border line all star...I wouldn't be mad if the Spurs took any of those players with the 4th pick...I think we're going to get 2 very good players with the 4th and 8th pick...I change my mind I don't want the Spurs to trade for Trae young or any body else...adding two top 8 rookies to last year's team...is only going to make the Spurs a better team...
No...if he can't shoot...he's not worth it. We need players that can shoot well. They can teach him how to play better defense but if he's not a shooter...then move on. We already have some good defensive players. Get some shooters. That's my opinion.
pass if you drafting him as a pg if as sg solid player who can play good defense with intangibles but no shot yet. I would draft a sf/pf that allows us to have flexibility better choices at 4.
Need people who can shoot. Please stop drafting players who can't shoot. Tired being bottom 5 of the league in 3 point shooting, then draft players who can't shoot.
I think spurs need to take a swing on either castle or holland who clearly have the most upside in the draft and try pick up a knock down shooter like sheppard or knecht

Dilly at 4, Knecht at 8, Bobi Klintman or Tristan Da Siva late first round(trade 2 second round picks to get either one of these two) Bothe are shooters and defensive minded
What if we are able to take Castle and Dillingham? They compliment each other. Would prefer Castle to start and Dillingham play Mills minutes. If both somehow become starting players we can slide Vassell to the SF. Castle,Dillingham,Vassell, Sochan, Wemby
Stephon Castle is a bad shooter (26.7% at 3P) do not like that. But between Ron Holland, Matas Buzelis and him (all really bad shooter) he's the less worst..
I feel that Castle could be a better fit then Jeremy Sochan there I said it. But I’m from CT so there could be some level of Bias 😂 That being said I’d like him at 8 and not 4 🤷♂️
Spurs need to draft a PG (Castle or Dillingham) and a Small Forward (Risacher, Holland or Knecht). We should just go BPA for those positions. Ideally we take Risacher at # 4 and Castle, Dillingham, Shepperd or Topic at # 8. Also, would love to draft Zach Edey at # 35.
Doubt Edey will be their at 35. Executives around the NBA believe Edey can be a lottery pick in the 2024 NBA draft. After the combine he had his draft stock rose.
You won’t get castle at 8 but can get him at 4. I do think one of Topic, Dinningham or Reed Sheppard will be at 8. Grab your future PG at 8 and lock down our defense at 4. Someone is going to need to lock up SGA
This guy doesn’t sound like a PG.. dilligham sounds like a better option.. castle at 8 and make him a SG. Spurs need a PG who can create and a SG who can play defense.. Vassell ain’t the spurs long term sg.. this team needs to build around Wemby and who can get him the ball
He isn’t a PG, is highly unlikely to learn the position in time to contribute immediately (if ever) and lacks a jump shot. Player drafted 1-10 (at the very least) don’t have to be complete players, but they have to have enough skills to justify being on the floor immediately. Bad fit for SA
