Victor Wemabanyama won the 2024 Rookie of the Year award unanimously. Wemby was also the runner-up for the Defensive Player of the Year award, as a just a rookie, to fellow Frenchman Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The interesting part about this is that the Spurs are basically paying a mid level exception price for each rookie cause their salaries are so much higher. So many teams, including the spurs, might not see these young guys as worth it financially if they prefer a vet on mid level exception instead

Gonna be hard to guess who will be left at 4 or 8. I’ve seen topic drafted second in mocks, I’ve seen Risscher be there at four. Depending on who they like, I want a pg and a wing. Not sure who but those are the spots I think need filling.

Spurs need an upgrade at guard, shooting guard and a big bruising that comes off the bench.

Obviously, what the Spurs do will first half to do with what Atlanta, Washington and Houston do. Probably Sarr, Risacher, and Reed or Topic. I would think that point guard would be the obvious need for the Spurs. But if Sarr or Risacher were to fall to fourth, how could the Spurs pass on either player? I still believe the Spurs will sign a veteran point guard to bridge the transition. There are lots of options. At #4, I prefer Nikola Topic, because of his play-making, passing skills. At 18, he is young enough to improve in his shooting and defense. I am liking more the idea of picking a shooter like Dalton Knecht at #8. But if Cody Williams or Stephon Castle were still on the board, I would consider either one. Imagine a starting lineup next year of Veteran PG/Tre Moore, Devin Vassell, Dalton Knecht, Jeremy Soshan, and Wemby, with a second group of Moore/Topic, Mlaki Branham, Keldon Johnson/Julian Champanie, Cedi Osman, and Zach Collins/free agent or trade upgrade. GO SPURS, GO!

Good and High Risk... The good thing about the spurs #4 and #8 is that most of the teams ahead of them DON't want a point guard. The RISK is that many of those teams ahead of them have a high chance of trading their pick AND the picking team might surprise Spurs comfort level by that team wanting a Point Guard.... So maybe #4 for a high wing shooter and #8 for the best Point Guard. Trading #4 to #3 would be the best for getting Reed and they might have to do that to be sure.... Hard to turn down Reed even though he is shorter than a wing, because Reed shoots better than SCurry and people know how he has done in nba, and his stats are good. Getting a young, low salary rookie Point guard to grow with VW would be ideal.... Because the chemistry of point guard and center is central to most current teams winning....

Maybe #3-4 take Risacher or Reed for %shooting and the teams 5-7 don't want guards (unless the pick is traded to someone else) and gamble on getting Dillingham or possibly Topic at #8. Off season trade for others.... Trade ZCollins and DGraham for ANYBODY and trade KJohnson for SOMEBODY and that could be ideal for best bang for the buck.. Anything to trade to get 2025 picks is great or getting another team's 2029 1st round pick could fill a desire. Like Cody Williams and Tidjuan if they had a later or mid lottery pick that would develop...

If they can get their guy at #8, how about trading #4

I dont like Topic, doesnt seem like a good fit. Doesn't shoot well, not athletic, and projects as a poor on ball defender. Personally, id rather take Castle over Topic as well as Reed, Dillingham and even someone like Cody Williams and Matas. Seems to be better fits overall and besides Dillingham, each have some defensive upside.

I would love Topic or Risacher at 4. If the other is gone and if Castle is off the board I would love Buzelis at 8. If not Buzelis then trade out of the 8th pick. I would love a trade of. Keldon Johnson Devonte Graham Zach Collins 8th overall pick For Mikal Bridges

I know you are president of the Hate Nikola Topic fan club, but most every mock has Topic going in the top for or five players. What do these folks know that you do not? A lot. By the way, your pick - Rob Dillingham - missed practice on the days that they taught “defense” when he was learning basketball.

@@sarahmccoy1941 not every team lack shooting as the Spurs... one of the worst team at shooting 3P. Rob is not "my" pick, but it's sure a safer bet than Topic... btw Did you see bad D from Topic, he have size but not the IQ on D.

4+8 it's lucky. 1+7 would have been a heist 🥷
