@@jamiethomas3768 Or, just a thought, she made a show. She made it the way she wanted to, because it's her show. And, it doesn't mean that it has to affect literally anyone else unless they decide for it to.
Man, what that fan said about Avatar The Last Airbender near the end really hit me hard. That show had the same kind of impact on me growing up, and Steven Universe's managed to do the same to me as an adult. Really makes me yearn to get back to making comics. Already looking forward to what Rebecca makes next.
my finance and I, both one half of a straight, white, cis couple, plan on having children. Steven Universe is already agreed upon to be designated "required curriculum" in our household. any story which can address bodily autonomy, the right to say no, up to and including full-on sexual assault/rape, and do it all in terms of what children can understand, *without* pandering... (not to mention freedom to love whomever you love, love yourself no matter how you look on the outside, so long as you are good and beautiful inside, I could go on...) well, that's a story they're going to grow up committing to heart. and I mean that on SO many levels. keep on keeping on Ms. Sugar.
Just to add to the list - gender diversity in the charicters and a hella diverse cast. This show has everything. I am forever grateful to rebbecca sugar for making the world a better place by creating the show.
I've seen this 10+ times by now. Its my total comfort whenever I get burnt out. Ryan is so sweet and any words from Rebecca warm my heart and always inspire me to get back to making things
What a great sequel to one of the best interviews Rebecca Sugar was ever part in (also alluded to in this one and found here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bohZZZ8t_uc.html ) They are a lovely team and I'd totally watch a 24h stream of just them talking like that.
WOW. I just watched a video from three years ago, and when she started talking in this it sounded like she was yelling, she has gotten so much more confident, and I'm so glad because she deserves the world.
I like the Black Diamond from a fan verson of Steven Universe called Rise of The Onyx Empire which Black Diamond viewed all organic lesser races as weak and turns on home world which he was the reason why Home world was shattered. It's upto Rebecca Sugar to add Black Diamond onto Steven Universe and has to be her way about giving the true main antaganist Black Diamond a good dramatic Story about how he became evil and before which should be involved Pink Diamond can get to him from the inside.
What are you talking about? There is no Black Diamond in the SU canon. I know White Diamond's reveal might've come as a surprise to many but a lot of fans knew of her existence for years. Plus, in a document posted by Ian JQ a while ago, that was made in like 2013, it said there are four Diamonds. For Black Diamond to even exist, she would have to basically be made in the show, literally from the ground up. She'd be by far the youngest Diamond, being made in era 3 where all the Diamonds are now officially redeemed and Homeworld is now peaceful. Even if a new Diamond suddenly popped out of the ground, it wouldn't make sense for her to be evil or have those evil ideologies the other Diamonds had, since she never had them in the first place.
