While US interpretation means conserving the existing idea or traditions, the word here means that he is someone who conserves himself, as in he refrains himself from criticizing or disrespecting other people, therefore "the students like him" line follows.

15:11 i don't read the manga so I'm not sure if they ever addressed why they didn't roll with Anya just being adopted, but I've seen Sam ask this question multiple times so i thought I'd take a crack at it. Given how the school was already suspect of how new Loid and Yor's marriage was (forged to be 1 year old on paper), Anya being adopted would have further added on to the suspicion. A 1 year marriage on paper (lol days in reality) with an adopted daughter just screams suspiscious; a made up family only created to get into the school with ulterior motives (Also side note the 1 year marriage being just barely acceptable to not seem staged explains perfectly their rather weak/new family dynamic, which gives Yor some leeway for not having completely adopting the mantle of the traditional mother role). Plus as you see this episode how high-end this school is they aren't just taking any rag tag families in; you have to have both parents, on top of being within the upper echelon of society (shit i'd even speculate given the context of the setting and time period if there were families entering with same sex parents that'd be an absolute no go). Anya already of course doesn't look like either Loid or Yor (we see mismatched unique character designs in anime all the time who are supposed to be related and look nothing alike, and sometimes everyone just looks the same in some anime, so it's easy to forget they're just drawings and the lines aren't easily blurred like that in real life. Given this, even by anime standards all 3 of them look nothing alike, so it's easier to just say (or assume) she takes after her biological mother instead of Loid, and have Yor be the step parent. Obviosuly the reverse would be overly complicated in regards to the dynamic (lies lol) between Loid and Yor. So yea, this was probably their best plan of action. tl;dr, it was their best plan of action, Anya being adopted would be too suspicious on top of a new 1 year marriage.

They can't just say Anya is adopted because it could arouse suspicion in Yor. He already had to come up with the first marriage story to explain why he had a child (there aren't exactly a lot of single people who would adopt a kid by themselves and then try to enroll them in an elite school -- that's suspicious). If he suggested to Yor that they lie to Eden about their family history, it might make her ask why they have to lie. And I have a feeling she's not a great liar anyway. So saying she's adopted would poke more holes in Loid's story no matter what and put the mission at greater risk of failure.

While it doesn’t take place in Japan, adoption is very rare hear and it’s a very arduous process… that’s probably why they wouldn’t say that she’s adopted; the concept is a bit foreign to Japanese culture. I think her name should be ANIA. It's a Japanese person mistakenly spelling an English name. The person doing the subtitles fixed it to Anya. The author had the same problem with LOID, but the translator didn't fix it to Lloyd in the subtitles.

In case you're thinking this school is extreme in selecting their students, schools like these do exist all around the world. They charge as much as top US colleges. And yes, they are worth it if you can afford them. They're boarding schools, and take responsibility of all round development of the students. In case you're wondering how selective they are - all of the top 10 such schools in the world are in Switzerland, and they take around 300 students each for their high school batches. But their students are truly "ELEGANTO". My friend's cousin is an alumni of Brilliantmont and I always try to avoid talking to her. I don't want her to know that I'm a peasant compared to her lmao.

I watched Spy X Family irritated at a lot of the over-the-top stuff they do (it’s not my cup of tea). Then the last three minutes of the episode are just family wholesomeness and it sucks me back in and reminds me why I watch. I’m in a toxic relationship with this show.
