Good review brother, I honestly think the Yojimbo has a better design for self defense but definitely comes down to preference.

The thing that pushed me towards the canis over the yojimbo was the lack of finger grooves. The grip more closely resembles the para family and I can adjust my grip as needed. Janich is a legend but I don't need him to make a designated finger grip zone that I could grip the wrong way.

I really wish they would make this knife in Cruwear or 3V. That would be awesome and would really boost my confidence in the edge and tip.

With a DLC or black oxide coating too. Taiwan doesn't usually do black coated blades, it would be a great first knife for them to do that.

Spyderco doesn’t really do much at all in 3V but a version in cruwear would be awesome!

3v is a mismatch for this knife. 3v is like an ultra tough fixed blade steel for hard use tasks

The thing I really don't like about the Yojimbo is that the scales cover part of the Sypdie-hole, which makes deploying the blade tricky, unless you put on the 5x5 Combat Solutions Pickpocket (and with the Pickpocket, it's much harder); I'm not super happy with the handle design either. I don't know why 5x5 didn't put jimping on the Pickpocket or Spyderco didn't put jimping on the thumb ramp of the Yojimbo.

For S30VN it is over priced. For the $ there are better options. Spyderco gets more for S30VN that any other knife maker. Thanks for the vid.

Honestly they make a better night than anybody else more consistent quality And I really like Benchmade knives and I have more of them But that's the truth

I really like the look of the canis - I almost got one recently but ended up buying a yojimbo 2 instead because of the wide variety of aftermarket parts for it you can get for it. If you could get the same aftermarket support for the canis I probably woulda gone with it. 192 USD, crazy how prices have increased - its now 238 USD at knifecenter 😮

Yeah the price increases are crazy. Inflation is really affecting the knife market. The Yojimbo is still a great choice!

Nice review. Thanks. Loving the Canis. Just having some trouble swallowing the price tag of $192. If the quality is on par with the Amalgam it's a home run.

I am currently looking for a new spyderco for breaking down and slicing through cardboard boxes. Which spyderco would you recommend for this between the Spyderco Canis, the Gayle Bradley 2, or the Manix 2? Thank you or your thoughts.

They are all great for breaking down boxes. The Manix is probably the best due to the grind, but they all have a nice thin edge that is great for breaking down boxes. If you are going to be doing a lot of boxes, get a version of the Manix with a very edge retentative steel such as S90V, M4, Cruwear, and Maxamet (not as hard to sharpen as people say). I wouldn't recommend the S110V due to it being hard to sharpen and chippy.

A $2.00 BOX cutter works good on BOXES. Why use a $250.00 knife designed for combative applications? Overthinking...everything with an edge cuts a box.

Those are two very different knives. Manix for EDC/box slicer. Canis for self-defense, better tip strength, and wharnie type work.

@@TripleEEDC I carry everything just cause, not what they are actually intended to be used for. At the moment i am carrying BHQ Exclusive YoJumbo. And it could be a Shaman, Ronin, PM2, Para3, lil Native, Griptilian, auto6, depends on the mood. But i settled for Manix 2 CruCarta pre order 🤓

Thanks for another detailed review 👍, I kinda like the looks of the Canis but that's just my personal taste of course, if it weren't for the price and the compression lock (which is difficult to use if you're left-handed) it might just get on my wish list but as the wish list is way too long already...
