Spyderco introduced me to three firsts: pocket clips, one hand opening, and serrated edges. I dropped serrated edges. It also taught me FRN clips suck as I brushed against a door knob and broke my first Spyderco Endura. I had the waved Endura but sold it. I now prefer flat grind but do have some older model stainless Enduras too with sabre grind. Been using Rat I more these days and my Spydercos have become safe queens. I prefer Endura/Rat I but do like that both companies have smaller versions for those who like smaller knives.
Did your Recon-1 lock get easier after some time and use? I have a Code 4 that I like and then bought a Recon-1 Mini for work (mechanic). I like them both and kept Jonesing for the full size Recon and it came in today. I was shocked at how much harder the lock is to fully release. Certainly not impossible but much harder to close with one hand than the smaller Cold Steel knives.
It did for sure! It took longer than most knives to truly break in though… the tip of your thumb getting tougher will help as well, because it’s a bitch at first lol. Some tri-ad locks (like on the SR1 Lite) are smooth from the beginning… not so much the Code 4, and definitely not the Recon 1.
After 40 years of wrenching that thumb is as tough as it’s gonna get and half crippled lol. It is loosening up already though. I enjoy your channel but my ocd is killing me watching you put that Spyderco back in the bag in parts😂
You mentioned base, are you in the military? Been looking for a knife for my buddy in the army who doesn't have one yet, I'm stuck between the sabre endura, and the pm3 lightweight. The lightweight is so fidgety but feels kinda cheap, whereas the endura is solid but not as aesthetic...
It would figure its a spyderco video lol sorry bro I was looking at a spyderco Byrd Cara Cara with Emerson wave it was like 30 bucks at the time. Just not a fan of how they carry and look
