I have the slipjoint verson. Although its not petfect its staying i agree with everything you say. Changed the grind and pocket clip (not wire on the slipjoint it comes without jimping) its as good as it gets.
Hi Denis! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I enjoyed watching the three part series. I have some Opinions on the Lil Native. I got a used Rex 45 Sprint run version for a very good price some time ago. I originally was interested in it, because it shares a lot of build features with the PM2 but in a much smaller, more office friendly package. After carrying and using it, I find it just does not make much sence to me. It is overbuild for its size, which adds to the weight and I find I miss just a tad bit of blade for a few daily tasks, like slicing an apple. I never had this feeling with the Delica, which also is lighter. I think that the Lil Native was very clearly build around size constraints, but i really do not care that much about the closed lenght of a folding knife, esp. if it is this small. To me it seems like a mini hard use folder (esp. in Rex 45) for areas with strict laws, I think that Nick Shabazz mentioned Chicagos 2.5 inch blade limit in his review. If you are not affected by such laws, to me the more sensible option would be to either get a larger knife, or, if you want the small size, get something very light like the Dragonfly (maybe the upcoming Lil Native lightweight could also be a good option). I do admit though, that I like the humpless blade shape a lot as well and it made me consider the full size Native. Do you intent to carry it as your main and only balde or as a secondary/backup? I find, that it is just a tad to small to be a one and only folder for me. Regards, David
to be 100% honest i get by with the victorinox sd on my keychain. I am more curious about how i can adapt it to me. round off the g10 scales, thin out the grind. For me, this blade would be enough, but as it is, it is a bit too thick behind the edge. and yes, the handle is very bulky. but i like the lack of a hump, as you said and the lack of jimping. and the wire pocket clip, in my book, is always a good idea. yes...the frn model which will be released is interesting, but the dragonfly....while i like it, for use i would take the chucky lil native anyday.
all my favorite knives i have are in s30v..cts-xhp..and today cpm magnacut..i would like to get k390 steel too..but what i wanna say..s30v is fine..i don't like the s35vn..but s30v..i am happy with..lg uddo
i am fine with it too. i like more exotic steels but as far as how it performs..i have no issues with it. i can always thin it out to get it performing the way i want it to
@@SpartanJohns the favorites steels i own and use is s30v..cts-xhp..cpm magnacut..and cheap steels..i like d2 and aus 10 a..and for big chopping knives 80crv2..i like very fine edges and because some steels are hooky on my cigarette paper tests..i don't like them..1.4116..s35vn..s110v..and for a long time i made s90v blades from modified müller blanks..can't say if i like this steel..because i never did the cigarette paper test on it and somehow i gave all s90v blades away..but mr müller only hardened s110v and s90v only to 58 hrc..i like hard blade..magnacut in 64 hrc ..i like nazarov damscus steel in 62 - 63 hrc..i like roseeli uhc blades..up to 64 - 67 hrc..they cut good..sharpen good with my method..hold an edge good..and like i said..my big chopping leukus..i like 80crv2 in 58 -59 hrc..this is..what i learned to like by experience..i am glad that you can get high hardened blades these days..and for my cheaper beaters i like d2..but d2 still gives me fine cigarette paper edges..and i like cold steels aus 10 a..greetings..uddo
i can't say much about spyderco knives..because of our knife laws..tho one hand opening hole makes them illegal to carry here in germany..for that reason i stayed away from spyderco for a long time now..in the old times i carried a pacific salt knife for years..but this time i didn't know much about knives..but i realized the h1 steel is shitty soft..and i wasn't able to sharpen knives this time..this luckily changed today..
spyderco does have a few slipjoints. those are still legal in germany. i recently got a ukpk s110v. liking it, but the grind is a bit too thick. as far as H1/2 goes...i like such steels. been using my pacific salt for a while an recently also got the stretch 2 xl in h2
@@SpartanJohns i am no fan of slip joints..i am actually happy with my little fixed blades i carry for years now..i hope the new law of 6 cm is not coming through..i can live very happy with the 12 cm law we have now..most blades i carry are between 7 and 12 cm..
I started out at 12 using a slipjoint knife. but nowadays i do prefer a locking folder. however lately i have gotten a few slipjoints which i enjoy. fixed blades are nice, and i always liked them. Your models look interesting. I never used a small knife like that with such a handle. i always admired them! I think you're doing a great job
