Really enjoyed that one I've never seen or held one of them but going on your final conclusion I'm with you $47 difference wins every time in my book.atb paddy.😀👍☘
What you said in category 7, that's why I pick cold steel most of the time and what slowly converted me into a cold steel guy (used to be a spyderco guy). Yep they've got dumb marketing, some goofy designs and Lyn Thompson is... Lyn Thompson but they've got solid designs and value that's hard to beat for the money. You should try the code 4 next.
I was able to snag a Manix 2 lock back for $99 when they discontinued it. Definitely my favorite Manix, but the s30v has chipped on me from normal use. Got an American Lawman on the way, can't wait to compare the two.
Ha! I couldn't put my finger on it, but It clicked when you said it. The American Lawman logo looks like the title of a comic book. It's bad. Love the knife though. It's not made in america though, which is pretty damn funny. Made in Taiwan.
Great job Bryan, Thanks. I'm curious though, as to why you chose the American Lawman in the first place? Over the Code 4, for example. With it, you get your XHP, and a Satin blade.
Yes, you're right fx sniper, and I agree with that. I did say: "With it, you get your XHP." Thinking that could be one reason, why he chose the American Lawman, in the first place (and would also get with the Code 4). I should have been more clear with my question. I should have said: "Why did you choose the American Lawman in the first place, over the Code 4. If you prefer a satin blade?" But I guess that would be taking for granted, that he didn't have a Code 4. That might not be used in this comparison anyway. Due to the reasons you have stated.
Chris Mccarthy Pretty sure I did. XHP on the American Lawman versus S30V on the Manix. Pretty equal overall to me. Probably why I didn’t make a thing about it. More details in the individual reviews.
There is too much emphasis placed on lock strength. Bottom line, any type of lock can fail. For the past forty years when I have to hard use a knife it is always a fixed blade. I will never buy a cold steel folding knife, I do not like their billboarding on the blades, the always coated blades, and their overall advertising. I live 25 minutes from spyderco and have purchased over 30 of their knives since 1979. Every spyderco I have purchased have been perfect, no quality control issues; however, with their last round of price increases I no Longer see them worth the money worth the money, with the exception being the paramilitary 2. Good review as always. Barry Levitt
We can't forget to compare blades steal some are more expensive than others. Cold Steel usually uses a cheaper Steel which makes the price cheaper. So what about Edge retention?
Kinda hard to compare price difference. The extra cost goes to employing Americans and providing them a fair income. This knife should be called the Tywan Lawman lol
jergensenC6 I hear yeah but... other Manix variants are much cheaper and still made in America. The price of the Back Lock is just way too high. If they can make the more complicated ball bearing lock for much less, they could do this version for less as well.
