Good review! I ran one of these this year and I love it. All except getting a photo of a giant under my feeder when I was sitting at home in my recliner. 😱 These cameras work great. I’ll probably scoop up a couple more for next season.

@@NWIWhitetails no, just the SPYPOINT. It works really well for what I use it for, and the transmission to my phone works well too. Only complaint I have really, is it eats up batteries quicker than i thought

I purchased the FLEX from Spypoint about 2 months ago. I must say I neglected to do my homework. That's on me. My cell service is poor at the camera location. It worked, sorta. I installed a directional external antenna. This helped immensely. 0 to 25% signal was the norm. After installing the antenna it's a solid 90% All the time. I fashioned 1.5 inch PVC pipe mount. painted it camo along with the antenna. yeah, it's a PITA but well worth the effort. My Biggest complaint is this camera has no DC power jack. I have designed a solar battery power unit myself. I wanted clean, regulated power. Not just a panel plugged into the camera with rechargeable double As. My other Spypoint camera is a LINK-MICRO-S-LTE-V. Its built-in battery with solar on top has never gone below 100%. It also has a directional antenna. It takes a few tests to find the sweet spot but when you do you can forget about it. Cheers from Louisiana.

I experienced the same issues with the spypoint link-dark-s. The camera finally quit working all together and I just received a warranty replacement. I fed the deer all winter protein/ mineral pellets with the cam watching the two large feeders. In the MN winter the spypoint lithium battery pack rarely lasted until the monthly trips to refill. Just like you said around 37% it would quit. The camera transmitted twice a day with a 5 min delay between a single pic. My original plan was to set this camera in my sanctuary in early summer and leave it until fall after hunting season. Not sure if I trust it to work. Might have to look into the Cuddebacks some more.

Yea, they just haven’t been reliable. It’s a good camera when it works. The question is, will it work?
@boostimalaka1

I returned this same model because it drained my lithium energizer batteries in two weeks. Apparently the cold temperatures in October and frequency of pictures contributed to it. I upgraded to the rechargeable solar panel model that worked from November to March. It stopped working because of a water leak. Spypoint sent me a new unit. Hopefully this new unit will perform better.

I’m actually getting ready to put out a new video about customer support. They just sent me a new camera because they weren’t able to resolve my issues. Aside from the issues I had with the camera I was pretty impressed with customer support. Hopefully your new one works better. Mine is!

I've had similar issues with my cameras aswell. I have 3 of them only time I had long wait times was During hunting season other then that most my issues were solved quickly. I did have one camera that I had to send it for a replacement. Kept taking ghost photos. Based on the plans though spypoints plan seems to be a better option. Off season I just use the free plan and once I get closer to hunting season I pay for the unlimited plans. I use a external battery source with a solar panel. Wise investment if you want to stay away from cameras. I too had to format cards and redownload the firmware. A few times with each one of my camera. This year I'm gonna get the booster antenna and see if that fixes my connectivity problems. I believe when they try to push new firmware if the service is spotty it doesn't receive all the files it needs. I used the verzion cameras.have never been find of verizon but at&t doesnt work on the land I hunt. Overall for the price and the plans they offer is a great budget friendly cell camera. They also of the stand alone cell link that makes any camera a cell cam. Check that outs called the cell-link.

@NWIWhitetails 3 года назад
Thanks for the comment! I agree, for the price it’s definitely a budget friendly option. The firmware and reformatting the cards gets to be frustrating sometimes. I’m definitely going to make some adjustments and see how it goes this year.

I noticed there are 2 sim cards stacked on each other behind the battery tray. One has spypoint logo and the other is AT&T. Is there a way to cut spypoint out as a middleman and just insert a sim card from a cell phone and just call into it with the number associated to the sim card we use?

SD cards are known to get corrupted from time to time. It's good to have extras. I have issues like that on my home security cams. But it is a known issue with sd cards.

The camera was in the same spot for months working well with good service, then no longer got service. The service in the area didn’t change. Now I can take the camera anywhere on the property and it cycles through the “finding service” lights. That tells me there’s an issue with the camera. Especially when there’s another cell cam with the same service provider on that property.

I agree. Customer service helps troubleshoot cam by reading a script. They know nothing about the product or how to help fix. I almost hung up the phone in frustration because of the repetitive questions and hardly able to understand. Glad I didn’t, they sent me a new cam.
