Excellent video and I subscribed you guys remind me of me and my buddy in the Woods doing that stuff! look forward to more videos. And I'll be picking up a spy point camera tomorrow
I just watched another video before yours and it said to do a firmware update. I just bought 2 today so I’m getting educated. I’m going to get them set up later. I hope Bass pro has that same sale. Trade one in and get $50 off. Ty
Did you have any issue with your cameras and water getting into the camera's? I have read over several reviews and the same concern has come up that somehow water keeps getting into the camera's? But I also have to take that with a grain of salt. They maybe the people who can't scan a code to activate it either. So you had a whole season in rough country. How did they perform after the season and any breaks?
The first round of cameras lasted me about two seasons then they started giving me some issues not really any problems with water getting into them just became finicky the newer ones with the solar panels they’re a little more problematic but as of right now they are working and no water issues with those either I think for the price to get a cellular camera I mean compared to the $500+ high-end ones, These are much better alternatives.
So what so you think of the solar recharging capabilities? I'm currently using two of them and I see my battery go down instead of recharging. Both my cameras are pointing in the direction of the sun setting.
Man I have been loving this camera, but today noticed my camera stopped communicating with my phone, went out and checked it to find water inside my lithium battery tray and water in the micro sd slot. The sd card is fried but the camera is still working. WHY the heck did water get in my camera? it was fully closed.I dont have a spare card to see if the camera is shot but im concerned its going to happen again.
I've had 3 of these, the first one worked for a week then stopped sending anything. The next two started sending me photos ever 30 seconds, I'm sure you can imagine how annoying that can be with your phone. Customer service wanted me to do a bunch of messing around on the computer with it, and yes I updated them all as soon as I got them. They wanted to connect to the camera themselves and mess around with the software coding. They are awesome little units, they're just a little to ahead of their time. I stick with the non cell models now.
I hear ya I’ve got about nine of them between my buddy Jay and I and I’ve only had problems with one maybe I’m just a special case I guess. Stealthcam has a new one that I should be putting a review above soon that has been working pretty dang good and it’s only about $119 at Sam’s
@@VideoAddict theres also the Reveal model that's suppose to be budget point for the cell models. I got a bad taste for them after I went through 3. I figured I'd give it some time yet before I jump back into the idea. Id really like to get my father a cell model, hes getting older so o want to keep him interested so he stays active. I just dont want it to be a pain for him.
@@NorthernExposureATV Nice comment there bud. So I'm new to the trail cams and I'm looking into getting one of these cell ones. But if you've gone back to your trusted non-cell type, which do you highly recommend?
@@arniet1 I suggest to keep it simple, I'd really like to have had better luck with these but the headache was just to much. I've seen a few new companies getting into the cell camera game so for me, I'm going to wait a few more seasons before I give them another chance because I really do like this idea. To be able to pattern my chosen target without busting the bait as well as keeping an eye on the feed levels accurately is a great convenience but again...they're just a little to new with my experience.
@@arniet1 oh and as for which, I like the solar models by spy point. But the best camera I have ever owned was the cheapest 45 dollar Canadian tire model. I don't recall the brand but they are simple, they do what you want them to do and theres bs about it. These expensive models are sometimes finicky due to all of the fancy features they have. I have experienced cameras that just dont trigger, or the card becomes corrupt, if they are pointed in a direction where they have direct view of the sun as it rises and sets it seems to trigger the cameras. I've tried to place them higher up in trees to avoid bears but they either dont trigger or still get chewed....I recommend building your own 2x4 bear box with plenty of nails and screws then placing then a few feet off the ground about 30ft away. That's where I've had the most success.
Just put bear traps around your camera they shouldn’t take something that ain’t theirs… they took 3 of mine and destroyed my ground blind for no apparent reason…
If the batteries don't completely run down, it will usually keep sending pictures. If the batteries dies, you will need to update the firmware more than likely. You can always check the spypoint app and the website to make sure the latest firmware is installed before going into the field.
Before using this camera. Spypoint requires a Class 10 SD micro card that must be formatted and install the latest firmware. I purchased this same camera with the Verizon network . It is definitely worth it. The lithium pack and solar panel helps. The other micro 4G camera would drain batteries. The micro LTE is better. Just fully charge the battery pack, use the Class 10 SD and format the card.
Verizon is a really great network. I live in AZ and have Verizon. Most times when me and the guys are wayyy the hell in the middle of nowhere i'm the only person with service. Great tip on SD formatting and using a class 10 , its a small detail that is often overlooked!
These camera's are absolute garbage. If you live in an area with great cell reception, plus it never rains or snows then maybe it'll work. If you get rain, your camera will crap out in less than two months. I bought two with the solar panel, both died in less than two months. Both had water infiltration. This is NOT an outdoor all weather camera. Don't waste your money.
