I really enjoyed it, totally. The Legend of Spyro really has an intrigant story as most of it remains in mystery, like why are shown just... 7 dragons in the whole trilogy?! The lack of the main kind is so mysterious enough. And your hypothetic story feels fresh connecting with the official knows story, like the dragons and their alliance with cheetahs and moles since the beginning of time and about the war of one thousand years. Some thought, I feel like that if the mana crystals are a gift from the ancestors, and considering Ignitus said that when a dragon dies, they melt with nature to bring hope to future, this could hint that the mana crystals are the souls of ancient dragons, giving "strenght" to the future generation through the crystals they gifted to them. Also this could go with the ammount of crystals that we find in the games, because in a war like that it's innevitable to die... Also, taking Jared's words about Pyra (Ignitus' banner wielder) that he got lost during the war, would suggest that most of the dragons, apart of dead, could be lost around the world. For what we know we just met two locations where dragons lives, the Dragon Temple in the swamp and Warfang, so how many other dragon civilizations are outside? And what relationships they have with other kinds? About the kind of civilization the dragons are, it seems that there is a council of leaders (more than one where each one's opinion is valid), as seen during Malefor's past and considering that the Guardians guarded the eggs, so I assume they hold a kind of polyform hierarchy. About the Chronicler, it's a mystery how old he actually is as we know, he tell us about the war, Malefor and Cynder and just that, but not before them so that part of history or was irrelevant or got lost, implying that things like Malefor earning dark magic or how he exactly was exilied to the Convexity is unknown... Again, you made a wonderful work with the lore, now of the dragon kind and their whereabouts. And happy to hear we will get some lore for a while :) Great video!
Once again a another great lore video! In relation to the dragons elemental powers one thing that has often made me think is, if Cynder has the ability to manifest the the power of fear, it is logical to assume that there are other dragons out there that could use emotional based powers such as rage, love and sorrow. Also if time is one of the rare powers that some dragons can possess it could mean that the ability to manipulate reality is also a possibility. It is also my hope that If we ever do get a Legend of Spyro remake that we get a bit more light on the dragons culture and history.
Doubt it honestly. Only chance it could have is if the Spyro brand suddenly exploded in popularity and if there was some demand for it among the popularity. If the brand hadn't been repeatedly shot in the foot by Universal, and if the triology's budget had been more intelligently allocated, the trilogy would have definitely been vastly more popular
I absolutely love The Legend of Spyro trilogy, and this video is great. It's simultaneously a summary of the things I learned through the games as well as original concepts spoken on by Jared Pullen and speculations about the missing or incomplete information. It's beautiful. 😍 While part of me acknowledged the very small amount of dragons we did see in the trilogy, another part of me never thought any deeper than that before, and I'm not sure why. Then again, I first played A New Beginning when I was 6, and Dawn of the Dragon around my 8th birthday, so I probably didn't want to think much about the potential consequences of the war. 😅 I either never realized or forgot that the war was going on for so long too, but both points are great things to bring up and speculate on. While part of me wants to believe there are more dragons still out there, the fact that there were only some specific and important dragons at the forefront of the story really highlighted their importance and impact since the rest of their species were barely present. All I can truly say is that war is brutal, and near extinction and extermination of the species was highly possible. I can't wait to watch the other lore and speculation videos! 😊 Great job as always!
I, probably, know why we haven't seen any other Dragon other than Spyro, Cynder and the Guardians in the first two Games, though this it's just a Theory. I believe that they were all inhabitating/hiding in Warfang, considering the Apes's and Cynder's Powers, they decided to stay in a place where the Apes wouldn't think of attack, plus, the fact that we saw few of them in the Cutscene of "Dawn Of The Dragon", is, maybe, because not every single one of them wanted to risk his/her Life for that, either that or the others were, sadly, killed before. This is an off-topic Question, but I wanted to ask you, what is the moment that gave you most trouble in the Spyro Series? I can't decide if "A Hero's Tail" is the hardest or "Dawn Of The Dragon" is the hardest. In "A Hero's Tail" I had trouble with the first fight against Red, I save-stated everytime I dodged one of his Ice Attacks (later, I learned that you could flame his Ice or Parry it with the Wing Shield) and in a Section in the Dark Mine(?) , where there was a Dark Gem in the center of the room with three Robots too much accurate against you, I used the Ball of Electricity twice, I save-stated, and then I used the Electricity breath for defeating the last one, but I survived by luck, I wonder if there was an Easier Method for that. In "Dawn Of The Dragon" I had trouble in the Last Part of Warfang, where you have to keep pushing against the Door (after other procedures), fact is, if you don't do all of that in a certain amount of time, you have to repeat the procedure all over again, I Loaded a State so many times for this, I guess I barely closed the Door just in Time. Another really hard part was in the Burned Lands were, at a certain point, you fight two Hero Orcs together, I save-stated and Loaded a State many times for this, too. Lastly, sorry if I misspelled something, I have some time of stress, recently, I started practicing for my Driving Practice Exam and I'm surprised that, as soon as you go out from a City, 30 km/h is considered a Low Speed, in fact, I would be more surprised if I would be able to successfully clearing that Exam, plus, yesterday I just finished a Level 10 Song (Maximum Level) in a Rhythm Game, so, now that I have done that, I'm trying to enjoy it more, but due to my Daily Driving Trainings, I have much less time to do it. The dragon elders lived in a temple and were regarded as warrior monks, the best of whom discovered the chosen one who would learn to defeat the greatest evil his world has ever known (who was going to be his father)? This is star wars in a nut shell. I mean, A New Beginning/A New Hope? Don't take this to mean that I'm disappointed. I'm almost a big of a Spyro fan as I am a Star wars fan. I think this is great! I love the age old tale of a grand faction's fall from grace only to find rebirth in its destruction.
That was what I was gonna mention lmao. "In dragon culture, the Guardians are the warrior monks, raising and training selected young dragons to become their students, scholars and warriors" That's basically the definition of the Jedi order. Plus a prophecy and a chosen one, belived to be the hero and savior of dragonkind and later going insane with the desire for power and ultimately betraying them and becoming evil? That's Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader entirely. As both a Spyro and Star Wars fan I kinda like the analogy here, plus this trope ie common in fictional media.
I know this is mostly supposed to be left up to interpretation, but I REALLY wish some of this couldve been shown or made canon and ESPECIALLY expanded on. I still think Activision could've had a new Lord of the Rings on their hands if they let these games thrive more. This stuff is so interesting man, very inspirational and I like listening to them while writing my own stuff. :3
I was also able to roughly estimate the size of Malefor’s dark army. We know the apes made up the majority of the forces who sided with him against coalition of dragons cheetahs and moles. If we assume that the apes made up 30% of the continent’s intelligent creatures and apply the “1 in 20” rule to their population when trying to figure out the size of this fantasy army we get, around 890,000. That’s big…like really big for an army in a fantasy setting..
I came to this conclusion by assuming the legend of Spyro world map was around the same size as Australia and had the population density of medieval Europe.
ok this hit me hours after I watched this. all dragons were supposed to have thumbs. I know it was a limitation on the animating, but that would and should be cannon. In Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Master Sword's design wasn't fully implemented in the Nintendo 64 version, but later was fully changed to what it should be in the 3D remake. I say that if Activision or anybody decides to remake Spyro Legends, thumbs should be animated in for this reason along.
I like to believe that the eggs that were smashed in the Temple raid were not the only eggs of the new generation. It's very possible that many other Dragon couples would have worried or even known in their gut that the Apes would attack the Temple once word of the Purple Dragons Egg got out, causing them to guard their own eggs themselves for fear of putting their own unhatched young in more danger by bringing them to the Dragon Temple. If this were canon it would allow other Dragon characters to exist more easily such as Ember and Flame, 2 fan favorite background characters from the original games. If we also compare the world of The Legend Of Spyro to the real world and think of how big the world actually is, some Dragons might night even make such a long journey to have their egg be guarded in the Dragon Temple assuming it's the only one. It might even be possible that there could be other Dragon temples just like how there's multiple churchs or Synagogues in real life, but it's also very possible that the Dragon Temple we see in the games is the only one just like how there's only one Vatican. Something I would love to learn more about are the Dragons culture and customs. We know that they essentially pray to the "Ancestors" in the games, praying to generations to watch over others they cared about, but is there more?
Why would you name a dragon Malefor? It wouldn't be a surprise you are gunna get an evil dragon. I'd like if Malefor was a name after he turned on the dragons and we found out later his birth name was something like Doug.
A shame about the opposible thumbs. IMO opinions, I prefer dragons being able to grab stuff with their hands and not with their mouths. The latter makes them look very goofy.
