This level is small, short and sweet, but it sure has a beautiful look too it, the music adds to the atmosphere as well. It makes me want to sit outside at night and stargaze.
Not only is this my favorite song in the game, it is probably the best song compositionally of all the tracks of this game or even series. That powerful baseline over the bouncy rhythm of the drums. The wild keyboard contrasting with the chimes and cymbals. All coming together so simply and seamlessly and holy shit I will be old and gray and still play this in my head.
Every time I hear this song, I always think of this: Big enemies like this Gnorc with a club cannot be charged, but a quick flame, that should defeat them.
Duuuuude was the disc Interactive CD Sampler volume 8? I have so much nostalgia with that disc cause of MediEvil, Cool Boarders 3 and Metal Gear Solid.
Every time I hear this music I relive my childhood all over again, Spyro is one of my favorite video games.... i miss the good old PlayStation one games
Honestly this song....the bass man. Gives me the hugest waves of nostalgia. Being like 6, playing this for hours. Spyro will always have a special place in my heart :')
First time hearing this again since I was five and it took me right back. Sitting on the living room floor with my mom playing spyro the dragon.. man.. time really does fly
I'll never forget that feeling of going into that little cove with the glowing water. idk why, but that area and the hall to it have always stuck with me the most. It was so beautiful and this music always made me think of stars and gems, so beautiful.
The brilliance of this soundtrack is how much each track brings its respective level to life. I can picture every level in my head just by listening to this. Stewart Copeland is a monstrous talent.
This level and song definitely stick out from the rest in the Artisan World. All the other levels are sunny and bright, with mildly upbeat music. Dark Hollow is more calming and sleepy. Definitely one of the more memorable levels.
Why don't video game composers make soundtracks like these for games anymore!? Some of the best soundtracks I've heard come from ps1 games, spyro, gex, rayman, musashi, crash and croc, and these are just a handful tht has left a lasting impact on my life.. I'm 23 now and I LOVE coming back and listening to these songs after a long day to sooth the soul :D
I agree that many old games have golden soundtracks. However current games have also awesome music, there's just too many to play and too many you and I haven't Heard about. For instance take a look at Metro 2033, the music matching the background is divine as this one.
One of my favorite levels from the first Spyro, and partly thanks to this wonderfully atmospheric track. The really strong, vibrating bassline is what makes it work.
This is one song from a soundtrack that to this day I still have downloaded on my phone. So fucking calming to listen to. Man this game had a beautiful soundtrack in general, currently in a pure nostalgic bliss.
The first Spyro is so strange and magical in it's own way; from the absolutely stunning soundtrack at all corners, to the vast, quiet realms that you would find yourself romping through. 2 & 3 make a great trilogy, but deep down Spyro 1 on it's own is a masterpiece~ I still remember when my mum came home with the real game after playing and replaying a PS1 Demo Disc and an entire world literally opened up before me...very good times!
One of the few memories I'll forever have of my dad before he passed away in 2013 is when I was terrified of the Gnorc Warriors (the ones with the meat clubs) and my dad laughed but kept telling me that they can't hurt me. Even though my dad was the kind of guy who was kind of a jerk, he was trying to teach me to face my fears. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be torching those assholes like there's no tomorrow come Reignited Trilogy's release in his memory!
By this point in life, it was such a sacred Childhood point in my life. Drinking chocolate milk on my baby bottle and watching Lilo and Stitch and playing Spyro the entire day after the Lilo and Stitch episodes ended. 🍼 I would give EVERYTHING fot that time to return. 😭💖
I remember being in this level for the first time 20 years ago, hearing that free life box opening and closing and finally finding the source of the creeky sound, but not knowing what it was and being afraid of it.
Listening to this make me feel like drifting off to a peaceful sleep it so relaxing it made the level kinda hard to play but did I love the level or the music any less HELL NO ITS FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!
Right in the nostalgia! I remember first playing Spyro the Dragon when my mom rented it from Hollywood Video (a similar movie rental place like Blockbuster) because I had good grades. I was 7 in the 2nd grade.
I’m 19 and grew up with this game on my dads ps1, the soundtrack just hits me with more nostalgia than pretty much any music in the world. I miss them times when I was younger just chilling playing this masterpiece of a game
Idk who exactly is revisiting this and reading the comments in 2020 or later but, if y'all like this then I recommend checking out Dustin Schulze's "Shades of Glass." You can find it on SoundCloud. When I first heard it, the middle section really reminded me of a Spyro soundtrack and I think that this may be the one that reminded me.
Oh, it's you. I didn't think you would escape those annoying little creatures. Of course, they wouldn't bother me but here's a hint: metal armor is fireproof, but a charge attack should take care of them.
When I first got to this level, I expected it to be creepy, imagine my disappointment... Now imagine my disappointment knowing that i didn't buy this game when I had the chance
Sitting in the basement where we kept the PS1, cuz the PS2 was in the living room, and me down there in the chilly late hours of night playing this game. Man, what I’d give to be 7 again
I usually play the Spyro trilogy every 2-3 years just to feel like I’m 12 again, & this is the best background track in any level of all 3 games (Toasty & Wizard Peak are up there, too).
I think my first was Tomb Raider, followed by Jumping Flash. Remember when the early PS games used to come in those longer boxes? Man I feel old, and I'm only 31. :P
Thank you grandma for what u said I hear it. Thank u for saying I'm a good mother that means so much to me I dont wanna cry so I'm gonna say thank u and love u and miss u very much
When i have kids the first game ill buy them will be this game. NOTHING compares to having this game as a kid, you get out of this world i swear!! Ill introduce my children to the ganes i was introduced with. Same applies to movies like Harry Potter and lord of the rings and so forth. They will love them i know they will!!
“Oh, it’s you. I wasn’t sure if you had escaped those annoying little creatures. Of course they wouldn’t bother me, but here’s a hint: metal armor is fireproof, but a charge attack will take care of them.”
