Squamous cell carcinoma survivor's thoughts on the HPV vaccine 

I too was diagnosed with SCC of the anal canal. Caused from HPV 16. I have a U Tube channel where I posted videos of myself while going through the horrible treatments (32 rounds of radiation and two 5 day drips 96 hr infusions of chemo 5FU & Mitomyacin. It was pure torture of my anus and pelvis. I was misdiagnosed for years being told it was hemorroids. My cancer was found in Sept 2023. I am not sure if I am in total remission. Biopsies and scopes see no remains of the tumor but my CEA has risen to 6 and my treatments were completed in early Dec 23. I am living a brand new life everyday when I awake to a new dawn and I am living to live as well as I can with this disease process. I have a very strong faith in God.

In September of 2023 I was told my cancer returned and is now metastized into the lining of my lungs. I was told it can be treated but I can’t beat this. Please talk to your doctors about the vaccine and HPV. And please pray for me. -Scott Courville

Currently going through this for a second time. First time surgery but it came back. Now I’m on cisplatin and 6 weeks radiotherapy. It’s hell 😞

I stopped treatment after 20 days of radiation and 2 chemo sessions. Post-op pathology confirmed that the surgeon couldn't get clear margins around the tissue that was resected (without cutting a giant hole in the side of my neck). The treatment was more than I could bear, and decided I'd rather be dead than put myself through any more. That was 10 years ago. Doctors cannot ask you to take any less than the prescribed course of treatment, but my experience lends itself to a body of evidence that 6 weeks of treatment may not be essential in all cases. And it's worth highlighting that the vax (as good as it is) won't protect against all HPVs.

I was just diagnosed with this same cancer and I had the HPV vaccine years ago...it wouldn't have prevented your diagnosis. Sorry you had to go through all this.

How are you doing now? I have HPV-related scc of the tonsil, also in the lymph nodes on one side of my neck, and am weighing options. None of the conventional treatments (surgery/chemo/radiation) are without prolonged recoveries that are far from optimal.

Sir I'm treated for ssc tongue got full treatment. My doctor never told me about hpv. What test has to be done to know if I'm affected by hpv . Rspond pls
