Sure glad I found your channel. I grew up on a farm and then at 16 I moved the the big city. Had a couple of small jobs till the age of 24 and then got hired on the railway where I found my love in life driving trucks and tractor trailers and the last ten years on heavy equipment loading and unloading overseas containers. So what you do is what I enjoy watching.

Its been raining every 3rd day here in ohio. Your right about the quality. I noticed ours has grown a lot in the last week but the quality is really starting to go the other way. Those accumulators are the best setup for least manual labor if you got a barn to accommodate the unloading. That's sure some nice looking equipment you have. Thanks for the videos. Ireally enjoy them

That's a nice baler i use an old 311 and i can't go much faster than a normal walking pace but i rarely bale more than 250 or 300 square bales i hate hauling the darn things. I enjoy baling hay also, i mostly round bale everything. I bet your timing issue was the problem with your baler missing ties. My old 311 does fine but i had a 658 New Holland round baler that had a set of clutches on the drive sprocket on the left hand side it only had the one little short chain but those clutches would slip no matter how much i adjusted them just a three bolt setup. The dealer said the new series of balers don't have the clutches and suggested i drill through the clutches and put a hardened bolt through them. It worked flawlessly after that well it correcting my problem with it not wanting to start the core and the twine was belt driven so it would mess that up also.
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 5 лет назад
Yeah I haven't had any more trouble tying. Glad you got yours sorted out too.
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 7 лет назад
Talking about sisal twine, I just had a problem the other day with using old sisal. It got down to about 1/4 twine left and it all came out in one lump. It then jammed up and lost the twine out of the needle.
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 лет назад
+PA Farms. Yeah, I probably won't ever go back to sisal twine on square bales. I'm using the Agco brand 7000 plastic twine and I really like it. I've also figured out I can cram 2 extra balls of it in the box because they are a little smaller.

that was awsome i could do that all day also. but we cant we need the dew to bale or all the leaves go away. love your set up. my brother has a stacker wagon so i pay him to stack . that is some nice looking hay, it is better to sell to horse nuts woops did i say that.if it is cut early i try to also. did you ever think of trying a heston baler easier to get around. they look like they are cheaply made but they work good.i bought a used one had it 2 years has been good for me, and ive had 3 New Hollands before that.i think New Holland still makes the best baler but for eaze of use is great.loved the shots that you had of the acumuator you showed how it worked good hope you didnt run out of twine, i would put money on the timing is what the any problems you had the timing is very important, sisle should of worked better i would think.

@DLHFarms 7 лет назад
+Howard Younger. Wow that's an awesome comment, I've been selling most all my hay to one woman that has a bording house down in NC for about 6 or 7 years now, she is great to work with. I thought about the hesston/ Massey style baler but went with new holland since I knew what I would be getting, baled with a 315 hayliner for years. I didn't run out of twine thankfully! I think the sisal may have just been so old it was getting rotten.

I may start baling some squares next year, but the accumulator is a must, will the grapple pick up the hay pads from either direction? How much investment would it be to get a accumulator and grapple like yours? And finally, do you think there is a batter accumulator system out there? Thanks, loved the video!
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 6 лет назад
Yes you can pick up the bales from two different directions, your investment would be around 15,000 for the accumulator and grapple. There is not a better system out there for that kind of money.

@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 лет назад
+freebird1ification. Well all my equipment isn't brand new I just keep it looking nice. I've been buying new stuff here and there but I've done it over the past several years. As far as finding people to work, i would only need help maybe 10 time a year and it would be very labor intensive, nobody wants a job like that not even me, and if you did find someone that's willing to help when you call they always have something else to do. That's why I invested in the equipment to do it, it never gets tired and it's always there when I need it and I don't have to pay it anymore after it's paid for.

Question: Why square bales and not round?
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 лет назад
+Steve Earp. Good question! I'm growing hay to sell to the public, I don't have any livestock of my own. Most people that have a horse or two or even 10 don't have the equipment to handle large round bales. Also a lot of people like to feed thier horses in a stable which would be hard to do with round hay. Secondly as long as you have the right equipment to handle square bales and don't have to hire a lot of help, there is a larger profit margin. Of course getting up small squares is a lot more work than round even with the right equipment.

@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 лет назад
+Case5130 Jcb 526s. Your right it is difficult to pull on the road, because of the width not the length, the accumulator is offset to the left of the baler about 3 to 4 feet. I have considered making another hitch on the center of the baler to hook it to for road travel. They say if you use an inline baler it's a non issue.

Any tips for stacking? I have 5 18' kicker wagons currently but want to move to an accumulator/grapple setup. If I can drop the sides off my kicker wagons, that is a cost I could avoid. I do have a 20' and 24' gooseneck trailer as well, but wagons would be easier in my fields.
