this is phenomenally helpful as I try to organize/build my photo portfolio... it gets messy so quick and this is helping.... thank you! Next I have to figure out how to submenu/subcategorize... (or understand the squarespace way of going from general to specific...)

Glad it was helpful! Currently, there are no sub menu options in Squarespace. But go to google and search MegaMenu Will Myers and his plugin should work perfectly.

I have wondered about folders and menus for a while now and this is THE explanation that makes so much sense. Bless you for this! Creating links to my galleries/portfolios in a main nav folder will save aggravation..... I think. (Still in learning mode) I like the freedom with this you mentioned in the video and I had NO idea one could do this until, today. I like! One question.....is there a limit to how many links you can use in a main navigation folder? (Direct gallery links is what I'm going for). I'll still use a gallery/portfolio section on the home page, which is a bit redundant, but options seems to be a key these days. Thank you! You're a gem!

let's go! Don't think there is any limit to the number of links in a folder (just double check user experience on desktop/mobile).

Thank you - just what I was looking for to better understand how to organize folders. We produce a monthly newsletter and every page we refer folks to is "not linked." Our not link list was becoming a headache. Now I can go and create a folder, "Newsletters." I haven't done this yet - wondering if there is a subfolder feature so I could have a subfolder by month, a subfolder for previous year etc. Any tips?

No sub folders. You may consider using a blog or portfolio instead of individual pages

David, I'm using 7.1 and I don't seem to have the folder option that you mentioned about 1:00. Under the more option, I have member site, drop-down, and link, but no folder. Any ideas why I'm not seeing what's on your screen? Thx!

Thanks for these tips! I've got one open question: How can I use the "folder" in the navigation as a page? So in your case, is there a way to create a "Drop-Down" Menu with "Company", in which "Company" is the main access to a place and the rest are "sub-pages"?

There is no way to create the folder as a link, without it linking to the first page. You can make the folder a link that links tot he first page; but you would need custom code to have it act as it's own page. I hope I can ask my question clearly, lol, but I'm gonna give it a go! Say I have a blog that contains different types of posts, for instance some blog entries are recipes but others are about DIY. In Squarespace can you categorize individual blog posts to appear both in a general "all blog posts" navigation tab, and also in their own tabs, such as having a dropdown box underneath "all blog posts" that contains a "recipies" tab and a "DIYs" tab? When I was watching this video I was wondering if using "links" would be useful to accomplish this or if there is another method for categorizing posts. I've just started researching into Squarespace, so I apologize if this is a very beginner question - or if you already covered this in another video! if you could direct me to it that would be awesome, or if you have any other tips on this I'd greatly appreciate it. In the mean time I'll be checking out your other content! Thanks for posting such helpful vids! :)

@Kaylee - YES! You totally can do it. Look at this URL here: spacebaragency.com/guides/category/SEO+Strategy In the URL above, it has a specific category of blog posts - SEO Strategy. This next one is under the category of becoming a squarespace designer spacebaragency.com/guides/category/Become+A+Squarespace+Designer Each category has it's own URL so you can do exactly that. I'm going to create a video on it soon! I wonder what I should call it.... Thoughts??!

OK so similar to Kaylee below.. wondering if I can shoot you this question and if you have this already listed in your video or this current video my mind just can't wrap itself around so, so.. sooo: on my Squarespace I have this section where it says Work and all my categories are kinda set up there The part I'm struggling with is that when I click the page I named "Shop" I have two different options within it, one is "Classes" and the other says "Clothes (which smoothly takes you to my shop, no issues there)" ***However, when I click on "Classes" it opens perfectly to a page ("take a class with me") that I already made but I want that specific page ("take a class with me") to be hidden unless clicked on from Classes.. because right now I can't seem to figure out how to hide it and it is on my home page with the rest of the categories Hope that makes sense, thanks a miiiilllllion in advance, you have such a nice voice lol and make this all so comprehendible seriously thank you for doing all this D

How do you change the navigation titles? I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere. For example, if I wanted to change the nav title from “blog” to “article” how would I do it? Thank you and please.

Yes! Go to Pages in the menu on the left. Once you are seeing all your pages, hover over the page you want to change and click the gear wheel! You can make the changes there!
