When you say to push off on one leg in the other videos. I gave that a go and thankfully i found i didn't had to think to much about it. I didn't require alot of thinking to move my feet so i will work on that push off and get back to you on how i went. Also the 45 angel on the T
or stay low engaged all the time during the rally? which I find easier and faster but not sure if good - A player like shahjahan khan stays like that I think.
Everything is easy when you now when and where your opponent is hitting but if they hold or you need to cover multiple shots it is more difficult. Staying low with an engaged body and a quick split step will help cover more outcomes and give the explosive movement off the T. If you jump high you then have to engage your body as you land but be in an engaged state and land and you are off quick.
Thanks coach for this detailed analysis, but isn't too hard for the body and knees to keep low at t and make the little hop versus being tall at the t as many other videos recommend?
It is all about full body engagement at critical times, great players do the work early and are dynamic and quick off the T and staying low with a fully engaged body makes that happen. You can not have your feet off the ground for long and this makes the motion quicker.
If on toes and not very low at T, then the hop can be just minimal with dropping down and spread feet for split - do you mean that as the other player goes low to hit we get somewhat tall and then with body engaged just drop low with the split and go?
