The two of the best WSA players for me, Nicol's my favorite though as she's always training and improving her games even though she's world no.1. Also a really humble and friendly person. Raneem played brilliantly and i would think she should have won if she could maintain her focus in the fourth match when she was in the lead 10-6, thumbs up anyway to the next world champ if or after Nicol David retires..
Brilliant physical and mentally game played by Nicol and she was able to "zipped" off the bias commentators mouths - Well done Nicol and Malaysian are very proud of you !
Why do we even have commentators here? 🙄 Anyway Nicol's spirit really amazed me. How she fought so hard during the 4th match. I can tell from the play, she really wants to win this. Simply amazing.
Firstly - I love Raneem - great player, total class. But, this is a masterclass in how to be a champion from Nicol David! Partisan Crowd, No Problem... A talented player at the top of her game, No Problem... Just, win, win, win..........
This is truly champion... The Best of the Best... I wish All Malaysian will have this attitude of champion, in All Fields & Areas they are in.. ... "Strong mind & determination... . Together with never give up spirit".... Congratulation Nicol! For become an example for us and To Lead by Example! Have A Nice Vacation! Thanks .... Sunday morning, Putrajaya, Malaysia...
Well done David, great experience and fitness, Raneem is a very talented player, one of a kind, it s a pleasure watching her artistic skills and tricks, really an outstanding clever player, i m sure she will come over this match.
Amazing #NicoleDavid. Such an example for squash to be #Olympic immediatly. #RaneemElWeleily will be #NumberOne very soon. P.S. Somebody to lesson the awarding presentator a protocole basic class.
yogaflame8 I love squash and i thank the ones that make these events possible. However a world championship awarding ceremony could have a different format where the awarded can be the figures instead of the presentator who seems to be the star meanwhile the winners remain out of screen against the wall. It should be more spectacular, more visual. Just my opinión.
Watching this in 2020. I'm appalled by this commentator..who the hell is this guy. The squash federation must get rid of commentator like this. They are to comment on the game not to butter the player. Kick his ass out, not fit to be in this position.
Down 2 games with your opponent having 4 match balls... I guess this is why you are the greatest female to ever play the game... simply nobody compares to you Nicol.
Nicole is not he greatest female to ever play the game. She is solid with good court coverage and played at a time when there was not much opposition. Sarah Fitzgerald for example was a much stronger player than Nicole.
Was supporting Nicol but can't help but feel a bit sad for Raneem (my next favourite player). I hope she wins the World title and gets World No.1 at some point. She really deserves it. Such a humble and honest player. She is more naturally talented than Nicol but less physically and mentally fit as Nicol, who is a demon and I mean it in the best way possible. The commentators irritated me because they appeared very biased. They obviously wanted Raneem to win and having Danny Massaro didn't help either (Laura Massaro and Nicol are fierce rivals and they obviously do not really like each other).
Excellent point, no disrespect towards D. Massaro, but if they wanted a male commentator they could have used someone who has no bias and could be a bit more squash accomplished (i.e. active top ten player or former no.1)
jonaloin I agree, Raneem has all the shots and maybe even more possibilities than Nicol, but she needs to work on the mental side now. When you got 4 championship balls and lose , it is not in the legs or the shotmaking .
jonaloin Completely agree, totally biased which was very obvious. Get some different commentators please next time. Use the same guys that do Men's squash, they are excellent.
Nicole showed her skills as to why she deserved to win Raneem had to do better but she played very well at the start the occasion may have overwhelmed her but she will be world champion soon

The rally for the 5_7 in second game and the silence of the crowd were two opposite ends of a spectrum. Disappointed to see the Egyptian crowd not cheering David at all

It's just that the rest have caught up. It's not just this tourney. In the past 12 - 24 months, the gap has closed down considerably. No longer are the days where Nicol wins a title without dropping a single set. These days, against the Egyptians at least, she usually drops at least one set in each match.
Niki Cheong I agreed with you in this one. Egypt is going to dominate women squash in the year coming or two. Their player are young and talented. Raneem is 25 where consider the peak age for sport, Nour El Sherbini is only 19 - IMO, i think she has the potential to beat Nicol record. And there are many more youngsters from Egypt that going to crack into the top soon. I predict Nicol will still in no.1 for at least 1-2 years until these girls fully grown and take over.
***** Ya, Nour El Sherbini is only 19, she's already a World Championship and British Open runner up. Raneem El Weleily seems like a veteran but she's only 25 and still improving. Nour El Tayeb is only 21 but already a top 10 player. Nouran Gohar who stunned El Sherbini in World Championship is only 17. Habiba Mohamed who give Raneem a tough fight is a scary 15 year old. I expect all these girls to conquer women squash circuit for the next coming 10-15years. I predict Nicol will still in top with her consistency for the next couple of years but with a decreasing margin each year. I might be bias coz i really hope my idol Nicol record will never be broken or at least keep as long as possible. Sherbini has the highest chance of breaking Nicol's record as time is on her side. But i hope her teammate will pull her down a little just like what happened in this year championship to make Nicol record stay as long as possible.
Dreadful commentary, please don't have these two again. Talk about saying what you see and stating the obvious; you don't have to say stuff just for the sake of it.

I wish the commentators would talk less! So annoying..we don't need a running commentary ...even talking while a rally is in progress...crazy!! I shouldn't have to use the mute button
So pity to el welily....is not good enough..cause is too over confirdent want to wins....when she get the point is too exited.. but u see nicol still maintan n focus to play...MC & el welily forgot which is nicol 7 times winner 2014 n she is number one wolrd record...lastly el welily also too fat n always tired....for nicol david ur are the best.....u gave ur country proud of u....MALAYSIA BOLEH..
Raneem should have won the match. 10-7 in fourth set and SEVERAL opportunities in the matchball to seal it. Fortunately Raneem also has her World title now!

+lubona chiboleka I was thinking the same thing. They need to be doing soccer and not squash. They were TERRIBLE. Hopefully I never have to hear them announcing a squash game again.
