Around the world stringing on an Eye V.Lite 130 squash racket. Using the UKRSA method
Always best practice and better for rackets to be strung with cross strings going from head to throat. This pattern is a great, though slightly more complex way to string a racket.

Great video! Congrats on the new machine. I have been using this pattern for some time now and I am very happy with it. I do it almost the exact same way, except when doing the crosses I am pushing the cross I am about to pull close to the previously strung cross. This way when I pull the string it ends up straight almost always, and I don't have to straighten nearly as much at the end.

Yeah, there are lots of ways to do it. The reason for pushing away is to reduce friction a bit more and can add speed, but everybody has a slightly different style. If it works for you, keep it going 👍

Thanks for this, I always felt weird doing my Carboflexes from throat up... I will do all squash rackets this way from now on for me and my clients! Cheers mate,

No problem. There are a few techniques, including the Universal Around the World which is a little easier, but this one gives e best results in my opinion 👍

@@stringdoctor6238 How does universal ATW differ?
@stringdoctor6238
@stringdoctor6238 2 года назад
@@simondennis101 hi Simon, the UKRSA method is just a bit more prices in my opinion, especially on the mains, as none of the mains suffer from tension loss. The only slight tension creep you might get is on the top cross and the last cross at the throat... which in the case of the top cross isn't the worst thing as it relieves some pressure on the mains making it more 'mishit' friendly.
@stringdoctor6238
@stringdoctor6238 2 года назад
Also worth noting that there's less friction on the crosses being woven on UKRSA method as most only pass through 12 mains initially rather than 14 - so kinder to the strings and arguably more efficient 👍

Great Video!! Is there any difference between stringing a Tennis Racquet vs a Squash Racquet. Every time I give my Squash Racquet to be restrung, it is never at the right tension, most of the time a lot higher. and get a lot of various tensions in different sections. Why do you think this could be?
@stringdoctor6238
@stringdoctor6238 Год назад
The basics are the same, but squash rackets are normally more complex (string pattern). Tennis have a wider variety of string though, which means that you have to test a lot until you get the right setup. Tensions are roughly half in squash (20 - 30lbs) compared to tennis. Different tensions in areas of the syringe could be down to the pattern, or just before stringing 👍

Thanks for the helpful videos! I’m having problems with teardrop eye/tecnifibre teardrops I’ve restrung breaking at the mains at the top. This is even in rackets without damaged bumper strips/grommets, and where I’ve put protection tape over the top. It has happened with the dynamix vp 1.25, and dnamx 1.25 strings, and as a default I string them at 27lbs. Also I have a lot of players who are say below 1k on squash levels standard asking for these types of strings, do you think I would be better off recommending them a syngut durable string? Thanks for any advice?

@stringdoctor6238 Год назад
Hey Chris, Good questions. So quite often with lower level players who tend to shank the ball/mishit it around the frame, TF strings can just snap, especially at the top - they don't take kindly to mishits! My go to for chronic mishitters is Ashaway (any model), as they are a line and twine construction and much more resilient around the frame. But they do tend to wear a little quicker in the middle as they're tougher and move about a bit more. Although I'm a TF guy and prefer TF strings, some players may benefit from Ashaway if they're regularly breaking at the head. As a footnote, just check that the bumper isn't too worn that the strings are exposed on the outside and wearing away from wall/floor scraping. This is also a major cause for string breaks at the head regardless of string type.

@@stringdoctor6238 great thanks for the reply! I think I’m going to get some powernick, and another syngut Ashaway string and see how it goes!

@@chrisshaw8764 cool. PowerNick is a bit marmite with some players, safest bet might be SuperNick XL Micro - really good all rounder and a fair bit cheaper to buy too!

Hi string doctor, I bought a reel of the xl micro. Put some in my own racket, it seems pretty good! I’ve got mixed reviews from customers, some really like it but others say it moves too much/comes out too loose when I string it at 25/26lbs, so I’ve been doing it 2/3lbs higher. Is there another ashaway you would recommend that doesn’t move as much?

I need to try this, how you count the lenght of string for the short side on the Atw method?
@stringdoctor6238
@stringdoctor6238 3 года назад
I normally count around 8.5 lengths (head to throat) for the short side. 👍

I used just under 5.5 full armspans - so about 8.5 - 9 meters.

You normally have your racket at 25? Does that mean you like to hit the ball hard?
@stringdoctor6238
@stringdoctor6238 2 года назад
Hey Mason, just realised that I may not have responded to your question! Yes, I like my rackets loose to mid tension. Easier on the arm and power is easily accessible.
@masonbaker2377
@masonbaker2377 2 года назад
@@stringdoctor6238 I find I have too much power… so I string mine at 28 or 29.
