During the 1980's I did volunteer work with both the Scouts and St John Ambulance. One of the long weekend camps we ran was in the south end of the Lake District. We catered for some of the less well off in society, and on arrival at the church whose lower hall was the base camp a couple of the kids asked what kind of cows were outside, and where were the mountains. They had to have it explained that the cows were in fact sheep - too big they said - they thought lambs stayed small and did not realise they could be quite large as sheep. When we found out about mountains it seemed they had the cartoon view of mountains, pointed with snow on the top. So having cows in Milton Keynes is not as daft as it initially seems. They all loved the weekend (I will not mention the parents of one of the more well off ones who thought it was expensive - despite us heavily subsidising the food bill, getting the hall at a very cheap rate, and getting an at cost hire for the minibuses).
I forget that I was lucky enough to grow up in a small village next to a farm! It's such a shame that kids can grow up not knowing what the countryside is really like!
Taking one look at that queue and I'm glad I drive nights 🤣. On the higher mileage Volvos the drawer handle on the fridge rattles like a bugger, usually get some bits of paper and jam it in there to stop it. Worst is DAF with the plastics all coming off, literally punching the dashboard to get it to quiet down. Its the little things isn't it? Not been in a MAN yet, what's it like? Stay safe drive 👍
I once did a favour for a friend, and delivered a load of building materials, picking up in Derby, and taking to the new prison being built in Milton Keynes. It felt unnerving to be there!!
