0:10 I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste A flannel for my face Pajamas, a hairbrush New shoes and a case I said to my reflection "Let's get out of this place" Passed the church and the steeple The laundry on the hill Billboards and the buildings Memories of it still Keep calling and calling But forget it all, I know I will Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered What's been going on Now that you have gone There's no other Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered I'm at the car park, the airport The baggage carousel (The people keep on grindin') Ain't wishing I was well I said it's no occasion (It's no story I could tell) At my bedside empty pocket A foot without a sock Your body gets much closer I fumble for the clock Alarmed by the seduction I wish that it would stop Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered What's been going on Now that you have gone There's no other Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered I bought a novel, some perfume A fortune all for you But it's not my conscience That hates to be untrue I asked of my reflection Tell me what is there to do? Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered What's been going on Now that you have gone There's no other Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered Tempted by the fruit of another Tempted but the truth is discovered🎤🎶
I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste A flannel for my face Pajamas, a hairbrush New shoes and a case And lots of toilet paper I know people aren't collecting toilet paper like they did back when we first heard about COVID-19. But I still like to joke about it.
@foxyiebot My sentiments exactly! This is the one I remember the ad-libs for, even the guitar at the end. $p0t!fy will make you think you're crazy to remember this version but it's 💯 superior.
This version is really special. Paul Carrack had been out of Squeeze for a while and was asked to re-record this for the Reality Bites soundtrack with the other members. Class. Edit: has to had
I'm fairly certain this version is a remix with overdubs so it's Paul's original vocal here. He had re-joined Squeeze 1993 for 'Some Fantastic Place' so strictly speaking hadn't been out of the group for some time when this was done - he may even have still been a member at the time. He did come back to re-record the song for 'Spot The Difference' in 2010.
This version is so much worse than the original. This sounds like a live concert version where the singers always sing the songs differently than on the record. that always seems so pretentious to me. like, i came to this concert to hear the songs i know, not to hear them sung in a completely different way like a drunk guy at karaoke.
Even SingStar 80s The Wilde Wedding Standing Still Bunheads Glee Ashes To Ashes Younger The Carrie Diaries The Office Felicity Top Gear Superstore & Reality Bites
This is definitely the better version. You get to hear more of Paul Carracks voice which makes the whole song. Bass and drums are also tighter and there seems to be more emphasis on the “wah-wah’s” in the chorus. Both in whammy pedals and vocals ;)

Holy crap this version sucks compared to the original. Paul carracks sounds like he’s doing his version of the thing, Christina Aguilera does when she sings.
Exactly, the original the singing is not as good as this one, its almost like he doesn't know how to sing it. But here his voice just fits the song perfectly.
@@cowboys4life956 its not supposed to be a soulful song. the original ones vocals fit much better because its supposed to be a cool type of song with a cool sounding guy, not a guy whos sounding liek s hes tryig to hhard to be soulful liek this version doesm dont you get that?
I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice the difference! I much prefer this version too. I wish I knew specifically what it's called to distinguish it from the other version(s).

Way better than original and Carracks vocals really open up in this version. You scared because it’s different but a far better demonstration of his vocal capability quit hatin
