You know what I really enough about Colin's contraptions? They are made, and they are made well. He could have just made some junky extension bits for the shifter. He could have made it work "just about", but Colin seems like the type of bloke who builds things in the mind of "if I need to fix this part, how would I get to it?". Things made with repair, use, maintenance in mind t a bit.
He makes it all seem so easy and entertaining. I think he is so humble about what he does that he does not need to showcase the shear amount of will power and discipline required to create some of these inventions.
Great to see you seem to have found a way to fund your channel while maintaining your unique style of crazy. The NERF video felt a little forced, but both this and the ice bike have been great!
Love your channel. I told my wife, "I think I've found a kindred spirit." She said, "Oh great, another idiot." Take it as a compliment. I always do. I have only one suggestion. Please wear a helmet. I'm living with a life altering injury that could have been prevented. Think about those two words "life altering". Then think about those people who are most important to you, and consider how their lives would also be altered by your injury. Hours, and hours in hospital waiting rooms waiting for you to come out of surgery, or as in my case, your 8th. I'm not saying stop living your life and doing what you love doing. I'm just suggesting that you take some simple precautions that could mean the difference between slight bonk on the head, or being wheelchair bound and having to rely on someone else to wipe your bum. Besides, we need to keep you around for a good long time. You make RU-vid fun again, and you keep young people dreaming and help old people feel alive again.
Something bout the chill aspect of the music along with the build log is awesome! As a viewer you sort of get to chill out while watching it all come together, which is something I like.
I guess he could always reassemble the bike when he’s finished with the tuktuk. Unless he sells the ‘rolling frame’ for spares, maybe the parts could fetch decent money? I have no idea what the bike is worth intact, but I did cringe when he dismantled it!
As those believe to cringe when a Honda CBR600 was dismantled for its engine and accessories to be shoe-horned into a tuk-tuk when those believe the builder could sell the bike frame along with the Tuk-Tuk's wimpy moped engine and rear suspension for scrap steel.
+yusted1 thing is with engineering, if it doesn't work, there is always a way you can make it work. Why im an engineer and not a surgeon. Oh yea just made the frame a bit wider but I fit the motor im. Oh yea I just snapped his ribs and moved em out a bit so the heart fits in.
NinjaRooster I know, but maybe he gets fun in destroying bikes for tuk tuks. Cool video. also he probably about $1,100 in youtube ad revenue just for this video.
"It's as if somebody's driven it through a field..." Really?!? What crazy bastard would do that? I love Tuk Tuks. I've always wanted to have the resources and skills to build my own custom version.
So much TRUTH!! lol. But...that might be his wife or GF in the vid. The only way I see him pulling this off is if he's getting paid which I truly hope he is. This s*** is amazing.
Oooooohohohohoho man. I wish I had a neighbor like you xD Now, little question for you : Where/when did you learn all that mechanics stuff? I mean every single video you put together something completely awesome from scratch, and it always works. You have to have some kind of secret :D
As the World's worst mechanic, I can't help but be amazed at people like yourself. Watching these vids and seeing how you overcome all the obstacles that are in your way, leaves me in admiration. All I can say is well done.
retrorestore I've not long found this too. Some of the things he does is insane, in a good way. Check out his 60mph mobility scooter, makes me want one haha :) You could put a bike engine in one of your 3 wheelers lol.
Josh Dobis to eliminate the articulation and isolate another variable. by doing this it's stronger with less body roll. giving it a proper disc brake setup is bonus
Dude your fcking Awsomes idk how many times I can say that but with all the stuff you've done its fcking true...Your a Hard Working Genius/ Inventor / Entrepreneurs,,, I think other MAD Scientist like Tesla would be proud of a person like you.
Hugh Jass I knew you would ask that, first of the engine itself. He put entirely new axles in the tuk tuk, and REinstalling an engine into a motorcycle is a risky and tedious task. Secondly the gear shift, he had to weld it onto the tuk tuk and then created the set in order for it to work. :)
Awesome man!! Only thing though, why did you nick the rear suspension?!! You could have made it work, or have that straight axle going through a swing arm with the pivot point being the same as the drive sprocket... shit, just snag a whole swing arm assembly off an old quad and and you'd have everything to just bolt on and go! Love your vids and your punk rock anarchy style meets backyard (occasionally brilliant) engineering! I wish I lived near you and hung out, I love this shit!
Ethan Gordon I laughed at that. Then stared in the mirror and contemplaited where I am going with my life. I cried and was about to jump... Until I remembered to post a unfunny comment nobody cares about and then forget about the suiside thing
Rigid axle and no diff? U mad? Ah well, good enough for some product placement and good solid furze style fun. I mean it's not going to be a commuter bike.
Tilman Baumann Well, Had he used a diff he would also have needed a difflock (or limited slip diff) and all that just adds to complexity and weight.... Besides rigid axel is perfeclty fine for riding on grass and drifting ^^
Quads are notoriously terrible to drive. :) I see a lot of understeer coming up considering that there is only one one front wheeel. But yea, good handling probably wasn't the main design consideration. It's going to be fast and dangerous. And probably very loud too.
I guess to make a hard turn just blip the throttle and break it loose like you do on a quad bike as you call them in the UK here its a ATV Have 2 on my farm
