SQUIB Makes Glock 19 Explode (Almost) 

Had that happen, pushed the bullet far enough to chamber and fire the next round.Only cost me a $60 barrel and a change of pants, luckily.

some Glock barrels I heard especially gen 5s have a short chamber and if your bullets are longer ( like the 147 grain or certain brands of bullets with OAL s that are longer)they contact the rifling and the bullet doesn't seat all the way into the chamber and when the gun is fired it bulges the base of the case(Ive seen this in 40 caliber). With that squib load possibly only the primer was live with little to no powder just enough to get the load into the barrel just a little ways up. I also know that on my other 9 mm and 45 caliber pistol barrels properly sized bullets will chamber all the way in the barrel when live rounds are dropped into the barrel . I know that this is one reason that reloaders (like myself ) dont use Glock fired cases to reload as some of the presses can't resize the brass all the way down to remove the bulge created from firing a Glock as the bullet is generally not seated all the way into the chamber like other guns. Please correct me if Im wrong , Im always learning something new every day. Yup Ive had a few squibs over the years mostly you can tell.

Good Info! Yeah...they are scary when they happen. I agree no powder, just pushed into the leade by the primer. I recently had a PMC .45 FMJ do that. Very surprised as I have shot thousands of PMC rounds with no issue. Easier to notice on an indoor range I think.

This happened to me a few years ago shooting a Glock Mech-Tech carbine in 45, the squib was like yours & close to the chamber so I thankfully couldn't fully seat the next round.

When I was first starting to shoot pistol I had squib in a ruger lcp that blew up. For a second I thought I lost a finger. I now know what they are and watch for them.

I've never had a squib, thankfully. Granted I don't shoot a lot of pistol, mostly just my "rEcCe" rifle. My pistol I just dump my couple of mags of critical defense every few months to rotate through a fresh batch of ammo. But that's one thing I think people need to be a little cautious of. A lot of times people just tap rack and want to go pew pew right away. Sometimes, it's a better idea to just take a second, and look and make sure there's nothing wrong. You don't need to zoom zoom all the time.

If it was the same size as the barrel the rifeling couldn't impart spin

Good save. I tried to make subsonic 450 bushmaster and ended up with a squib. Thankfully my muzzleloader rod pushed it right out. Still got all my fingers

another channel just had Armscor .38 in a revolver that had squib load(s). He blamed it on undersized bullets and not enough charge, the bullet didn’t build enough pressure. The company was not exactly willing to stand behind their defective product.

I had this happen to me for the first time about a month ago but when I tap racked I hit the back of the slide and it seated the next round and I almost pulled the trigger before it hit me wait stupid and I checked and explosion averted!

Do you mind saying what ammo it was? I understand if you don’t want to “blow up their spot” but for you know, safety purposes…
