I grew up fishing for squid, and I don't think you're necessarily being set up for success there lol. Squid tend to congregate around rocks and piers. You can find them in open water, of course, but it's tough fishing unless you find a nice seagrass bed to drift over, which it doesn't look like they have there. I also had my greatest success in low light with a lure lamp. Fun experience for you, but I have a sneaking suspicion that their offer to cook the squid for free is a pretty low risk offer on their part haha.
Right. That looks like it is just off the Pattaya shoreline. If there were squid out there, there would be a lot more than one fishing boat trying to catch them.
Not related to the food in this video, but I just love how there is this one guy with the One Piece shirt at 0:45 just sitting there casually with the crowd of passengers wearing the life jackets like he has some special perks for being a cultured person
Just a small tip! The way you handled your fishing rod, you let your lure sink for a second, then you pulled it up immediately. You can't expect to catch something if you keep moving the bait up and down! The goal is to simulate a small water bug: create enough movement to catch the fish's attention and make them believe it's food, but leave a window where you stay immobile to give them a chance to catch it. It's like playing with a cat!
That looks like such a unique experience! Though sadly it looks like they've overfished that location. Do you think that since the restaurant is on a boat, they could move to another spot? Maybe the squid have learned to avoid that location!
with the lights and noise, fishes/squid will surely avoid the boat's perimeter. But it could make a good profit for the business owner. The tourists got baited instead lol
@@Nwitnyipit Yeah, it seems like one of those food challenges almost. They'll cook your squid for FREE if you catch one, but if no one ever catches anything then you're forced to spend money anyway.
This looks like such a fun evening out!! Relaxing outside with good food. My parents used to take me fishing all the time. I've never fished specifically for squid but it's a familiar technique. When the guide was showing them how, I was like oh yeah I've got this. Lol Too bad there weren't any squid around to catch. 🐙
I have watched you two a long time... I really love your experiences... Thanks for all the education and new experiences.... this is so fun, I hope you enjoyed, I know I would...keep them coming...
This is a genius idea in so many ways, combining a boat ride, a meal at a waterfront restaurant and the chance to catch your own food into 1 is going to attract so many different people who want any or all of those experiences, and all so inexpensively as well.
"A pretty relaxing activity where you can think about life". And you have just realised the whole point of recreational fishing. If you catch any fish, that's just a bonus 🙂
Great timing!! I hope you're both doing well!! 💙💙 EDIT - Excellent video!! I felt like I actually had a traveling experience!! Easily one of my favorites (although I have many) from you. Wish it was longer. 😂 Thank you so much!! 💃🕺🥓💙
i love how this channel is nothing but good food and interesting things, it doesn't get political, its not involved in any drama and overall its people just having fun I envy this.
Love the show. The blue in her hair is beautiful I love her smile. It's great that she gets in on the fun. My husband and I love watching the show. Love from Canada
I was doing some remodel work on the manager's office which was located in the kitchen of a popular Chinese restaurant. I was doing the work while the restaurant was open, but I did it behind the closed door of the office. The manager took me to the steam table and told me I could have as much of anything on it that I wanted if I got hungry. If I wanted anything else it would be 50% off while I was working there. I noticed the kitchen workers always grabbed one or two boiled squid to eat, so I tried it. It was bland, not much flavor. I have eaten fried squid (calamari) and liked it if it wasn't cooked too long and became rubbery. As the job neared it's finish I decided to order a big meal for my crew and let them invite a guest. The Peking Duck and roast pig that I ordered had to be ordered two days in advance. The pig had to come from a supplier in another state and I watched them prepare the Peking Duck. Each morning they'd bring the duck out of the cooler and hang it in the corner of the kitchen with a large pan under it. They'd ladle boiling honey water over it to render the fat and then let it drip in the pan for an hour. They did this all day and then put it back in the cooler. The day of the meal they roasted the duck and the pig and served our two tables with great fanfare. The wives and girlfriends were much impressed and we had been given the VIP room to ourselves. Wine was flowing and everyone was having a great time, but I was getting worried. I just assumed that this meal would be 50% off, but now was thinking I might be looking at a $2,000 dollar meal if I misunderstood. I quietly took the manager aside and asked him straight up, "This meal is just 50%...right?" He gave me a puzzled look and said, "No." My heart sank. He continued, "The meal is free. You did such a great job with my office that the meal is on the house tonight!" I was so relieved, but then he added sternly, "But, next time you pay full price!" and then he winked at me! He was a cool dude!
Looks so relaxing! I'm really glad you guys got to enjoy your experience. But I gotta say, it's impossible to catch something there, when we fish, we have to be as quiet as possible to not scare the fishes away, but with chatting + live music... Yeah, really hard to get something
I love your videos. You two women do such a great job no matter the cuisine One small dislike is how you abruptly end you videos. You might not be aware, but in the last seconds we get 3-4 videos recommendations while your video is still playing- the last seconds, yes, but those are important to us.
That looks like it was so much fun! I would love to do something like this. I’m glad you both had fun. I love watching octopus 🐙 and jellyfish moving in the 💦 water, so graceful and beautiful.
Was that Camera bacons at the end I heard!? Been a while! Fun video! Btw squid are highly intelligent creatures, I wouldn't bank on ever catching on at a place like that lol
A family from Thailand was part of my church, and they brought Thai noodle salad to a gathering once. It had chicken, and was the best dish there. The grandmother made it.
What a unique idea for a restaurant. Fishing is fun :) He is teaching guests how to jig, which is one of many ways to catch squid. The food look delicious!
Amazing as usual 🤩 I feel like I won the lottery a little on this one becouse it up loaded just as I was putting my calamari supper together.. 😎 😄 perfect timing 👌
Very cool indeed. Really an interesting experience. If there are any more on the water or boating things to see and or eat, please feature in an upcoming video. Keep doing awesome work. Much love from Chicago
I recall catching squid by hand when they came in with the surf. Caught several that day and there were a number of folks watching going "OHH" and "AHH" when I caught them. To my amusement, I let one go on the beach near their feet and laughed as they all yelled! Special day!
