This and SpongeBob Gets Cancelled are like some of the best political satire's of modern day politics I've ever seen. I've watched Spongebob Gets Cancelled like waaaaay too many times.
Instead of having to imagine much of the joke, you just have to watch the visuals and have prior understanding of the references. This will 100% be studied in the future and referenced when they talk of political humor of our time.
To be completely honest, this is some excellent political commentary that throws stones at both sides. Genuinely one of the most fresh, even, and hilarious political takes I have seen in a minute.
All it does is satirize the two American parties, both if which are very right wing by the standards of most countries. Only in America does this count as even handed satire.

We no longer have a left leaning party with religious leanings. I would not call the us right wing by most countries standards. If you're referring to Europe still no. They are fundamentally more left leaning than us. This is due to a number of factors not least of all socialized health care.

As far as I can tell, there's only one side being lampooned, just with different flavors: hard-line progressive leftism (Democrats), and hard-line progressive leftism from 10 years ago (Republicans). Hell, even modern leftists get BTFOed if they happen to wander off the uniparty reservation. As seen during the unnameable conflict in the near east that occurred last October...

The vid doesn’t even touch the left though. Squidward is clearly a neoliberal grifter, while the last 30 seconds pile drives the right. I’d say it’s more right wing vs establishment than left vs right.

I love how Squidward is portrayed. -He’s a normie consumer who takes pride in the “niche” brands he’s loyal to (Whole Foods, IN-N-OUT, Rick and Morty). -He constantly insults SpongeBob and Patrick’s intelligence even though they’re the friendliest of the three despite their occultist beliefs. -He annoyingly appropriates already unfunny alt-right memes in a sad attempt at safe-edgy comedy (eat ze bug). -Despite being a liberal, he sees the logic in conservatism and defaults to it whenever he’s distressed or angry. (“Shouldn’t you be upholding moral traditions and values?” “We need to gentrify the opp block!”) He’s probably more trained in hating conservatives than understanding liberal ideology. -He speaks with preconceived notions when interacting with certain demographics (like black people) like a fascist.
Its really funny seeing people of both political parties in the comments thinking this is only dunking on their enemies and getting upvoted for it. Makes the satire all the more accurate.
