UNBOXING Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster Sonic | Blue Review Demo
In this UNBOXING video I review and demo a 2012 Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster finished in Sonic Blue.
The Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster has a 25.5" Scale neck with two Seymour Duncan Designed Single Coil pickups.
I play a mixture of clean and overdriven sounds through the neck middle and bridge position.

Rob the vintage modified vs j mascis? Is the price difference worth it? I can buy a new vintage modified or a used j mascis

Personally I prefer the J Mascis, I love the neck with satin finish and jumbo frets, also prefer the pickups and tunomatic bridge.

This is my current guitar, bought it back in 2016. Watching this video makes me glad I still have it. Great playing man, nice tones. There are many solid Squier guitars out nowadays, but none of them look this pretty.

I bought one of these this week secondhand....got to say its prob the best guitar i own! I love it, i was always put off by the way the pickups looked but once i'd played one there was no lookin back...

I really fucking want this exact jazzmaster. I absolutely love sonic blue. Honestly I don’t think you can go wrong with putting any shade of blue, green or purple on a guitar. I really enjoyed this video.

Yes the sonic blue looks cooler for me, ah awesome I think I need to angle katana a little bit more towards the camera to mask some of the picking noise.

Lost count of the times I've heard of people putting mustang bridges with the "wrong" radius on these guitars (Inc jaguars)

I liked the sound of the amp set up. I don't know if it made the guitar sound fuller or if it was the instrument itself. But it sounded better than the review of the white Jazzmaster.

Both set ups have their pluses and minuses, the old way the guitar is more up front and easier to hear, this way you get what it sounds like in the room, reverb's, reflections, what it really sounds like, my ears adjust either way, your channel your call. Cheers

Eh up t'north Yorkshire, that's awesome I'm sure you'll love such awesome guitars with a unique sound unlike any other, they are so comfortable to play. You may need to change out the bridge to stop string slippage and also lock the bridge in place with electrical helps no ending with tuning stability

This channel is amazing, thanks for all the great videos and great playing. Having hard time deciding on this exact Squier VM Jazzmaster for $220 or a Fender MIM Classic Player Jaguar for $450. Live in Los Angeles where used guitars are plentiful. Have you played the Jag?

I put a red tortoise shell pick gaurd from usa jazzmaster. You need to change bracket for volume tone wheels.and black pick up covers. Tele style dome knobs. Mustang bridge. Got the parts on ebay. This is my favourite just now. I never liked strats

Sounds different to the white one from a few weeks ago. I prefer this one. That colour looks excellent on a Jazzmaster but any shade of blue does in all fairness.

Don't you find that the Squier vintage modify's are , well more "true" to the originals , even down to the machine-heads , and a LOT CHEAPER :)...its that attention to detail i love about the Squier's :)

Bought this guitar a few months back, now it's my main and basically only guitar. Replaced the bridge with a Mustang one but I think I'll soon replace it with a Staytrem or something. Wonderful color, wonderful guitar for the price and sounds great.

If i had to have only one guitar I'd probably go for a VM Jazzmaster or J Mascis Jazzmaster both great guitars. I just love sonic blue looks so cool on a Jazzmaster/ Definitely worth getting that Mustang bridge replaced with a 9.5' radius bridge.

This color is hard to come by now. I'm not sure if Clapton was playing a Fender in sonic blue at the Crossroads Festival years ago or whether it was a Daphne Blue guitar. Anyway, great color and beautiful Squier Jazzmaster. I would be adding this one to my keeper list for sure.

My Revelation RJT60 Quad is in Sky Blue, their equivalent of Sonic Blue, and it’s a superb colour, especially with white pick guard and pick ups. Fortunately it plays as good as it looks, which is not always the case with guitars!

The Boss Katana 50 , i almost bought one for a 165 quid , my mini Vox 5 wasn't that much cheaper , but it has some great reviews ,the Katana 50...plus with my Vox i'll be able to fit it almost in my pocket...well not quite :)

I love that one too! Very very nice looking guitar. I was having a buzz problem with my Jazzmaster, I put a roller bridge on it and it is ok. I bought a " Buzz Stop " for it to be safe. I want to play it this Friday and Saturday nights. I built the whole thing, I put Squier Jazzmaster pickups on it. I heard many great things about them. I played it in a large room and it is a beast. So loud compared to my Strat or Les Paul. You have a great guitar!

Mine was , oh from 2007 , the reissue made in Japan , its one of the few guitars i really do miss...i bought it from MOR in York , new for just short of 500 quid...i wish Bulmers selling service in York hadn't closed down after...oh 60 years plus , John Bulmer always could find me just about anything , i always find it sad when shops end up shutting down after decades :(

Good video mate. I ve just bought a VM jazzmaster but didn't notice that bridge and neck radio difference and stuff that you say you will eventually change. Is it necessary to change? Does it affect the sound? And finally, which bridge should I buy then?

Only radius problem is when people put a standard Mustang bridge on the radius is different. The stick bridge is ok but suffers with string slippage there are bridges on eBay just make sure they have adjustable saddles

Sounds great on clean but I hated the dirty sound, too tinny and ringy for me, don't know if it's the amp, guitar or both. I just bought a vox av15 amp look forward to testing it now.

Ah the machine heads , have they got the "slot" in the top of the of them ? i seem to remember the 3 "finger" string length when you trim the strings !!!

To be honest I never have a problem with tuning stability on Mustangs, Jaguars or Jazzmasters, as long as they are setup correctly and you use the Vibrato correctly not constantly dive bombing etc. Also putting some electrical tape around the bridge poles to stop it floating around helps greatly :)

After seeing most if not all your vids Rob , it seems like Squier are the "new" Fenders ! ...Gear4music have 1 left at £319...3 miles up the road from where i live , i'm gonna give them a ring tommorow...unless MOR have , or can sort me out with one...ah i'm sure Lynne , Phil and Lloyd is probably my best bet :)

I literally just scored a 2016 one today that someone had just traded in yesterday. Doesn't even look like the previous owner played it, in immaculate shape, walked out the door for a little under $300 us dollar so super stoked! Well, haven't walked out yet, they need to do a proper police background check to make sure it's not hot! Can't wait to get it home and plugged in. I definitely want to upgrade the bridge, which one do you recommend?

Hey Rob, awesome videos and info on the Squier Jazzmasters, probably the main reason I gave them a good look and ended up buying one. Can't wait to get it home and start jamming on it. I agree, the pickups are pretty solid. As you mentioned, I find the bridge to be a bit weak as well, especially when Hybrid picking. In your opinion, which model do you recommend as a replacement? Again, thanks for all the awesome videos!

The Guitar Manifesto I just bought the olympic white jazzmaster. But i had to wait for rosewood so i go with the laurel. What do you think? Are there any differences between those two?

The rosewood is the older model all the new models will be Indian laurel, no virtually no difference

Be sure to stick some electrical tape around the pole pieces of the bridge stops it floating and helps a lot with tuning 🎸👌

well i'm currently into getting a possible Tele for jazz, ( do you have a Tele?) and looking for a warm sounding amp, possible with a record out... just bedroom volume or perhaps a small low volume head with a nice cabinet, size is not a real issue for me volume is because of my neighbours

uhm kinda beginner ( looked at a Gretsh jazz guitar thats around 600? thats like my whole budget) a Tele is around half that price, i've discovered that an amp is also a factor in sound, so like a full on jazz guitar rigg around 600 pounds???
