Thanks for this review man. Actually just got mine in this same color this past weekend. Was looking to get a MIM Pbass but settled on this one for the price and value. Solid tone and very fun to play!

I agree man, why just get a P when you can have that and the J at the bridge. Both of my Jags have that configuration and they're so versatile! Good playing, thanks for the demo!

I think for the money the Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe series from Squire are about as good as you can get. I picked up a Vintage Modified Jazz bass as a platform to upgrade, and honestly after changing out the bridge and tuners to Hipshot i can say that its just an all around amazing bass. Less than $500 all said and done.

T.J. Meechan I agree. The VM Jazz Basses have always been just fabulous. I’m particularly interested in the newer Classic Vibe Jazz Bass V. Both series have some excellent basses!

The neck is a modern precision neck , 1.625. The same as a mexican player series, american professional and american performer precision bass.

Good demo & review. I’ve got one of these on the way. I love my G&L bass but I’ve been wanting to check out one of these Squier VMs. They’re so reasonably priced.

Chris Davis definitely bro! Thanks for the kind words. The VM basses are great. Especially that 70’s jazz bass. Love that one.

Rumblin Man I have a friend who has a Classic Vibe Squier Telecaster electric guitar that he really likes. The Classic Vibe basses seem to be as good as the VMs too.

Chris Davis personally, I think the Classic Vibe basses are better. I’d even go so far as to say they’re some of the best basses on the market. They play great and sound wonderful!

Great review and excellent playing. I think the neck feels like a combination of a precision and jazz, it's 1.625, and a jazz is 1.5 at the nut where a lot of p,s are 1.64.
@RumblinMan
@RumblinMan 6 лет назад
Hey Don! Thanks so much for the compliments brother! Great insight about the nut radius, I didn’t realize that. Thanks for letting me know! That’s really cool. It’s a fabulous neck. God bless bro.

Agathis does have tonal properties or else it would not be used in guitars. For that reason, no guitars are made of oak, for example. Agathis is a softwood, coming from a coniferous tree (spruce, pine, etc), unlike Mahogany which comes from a deciduous tree (hardwood). The early VM77's have agathis bodies that are VERY light. My vm77's jazz are 7.3 and 7.5 lbs and have tone for miles.
@donnix768

It is a precision bass, only difference is the j pickup in the bridge. The neck is a modern precision neck

hey ! I bought this squier pJ bass and I want to change the pick ups for seymour duncan quater ponds or Lollar PJ-Bass 4S Set : I have to change the stock electronic ? or just potentiometeres ? or the stock electronics can do the job ?

Should I pick this or fender p bass for playing jazz music?
@RumblinMan
@RumblinMan 6 лет назад
Hayden Ogden in my opinion, a fender jazz is the way to go for jazz music. However, if you venture into jazz-blues or jazz-funk, a p bass sound with flats is really cool for that (that Motown bass sound). Just depends on if you’re playing traditional / swing jazz only, or multiple jazz-related genres.

I'm getting one of these, I just keep flip floping on the damn colour! love the LPB but don't really like the glitter finish

arcanerhythm lennon I see what you mean. While Lake Placid is an amazing color (one of my favs), the sunburst has a more vintage and professional look. Love the red too! Definitely a tough call.

JuanMa Villazan no matter what bass you buy, it is always best to change the strings as soon as possible.

@@RumblinMan many thanks for the answer. Just one more question please. I'm a beginner and looking for a bass to start to learn. My two options are this : Fender Sq Vintage Modified Precision is 350$ or Affinity Series Precision is 250$. What do you think?
@RumblinMan
@RumblinMan 5 лет назад
JuanMa Villazan No problem bro! Because the price difference isn’t extreme, I would go with the Vintage Modified. They are much, much better quality than the Affinity Series.

Hey could someone tell me the difference between this bass and the Squier Affinity series Pbass?
@RumblinMan
@RumblinMan 5 лет назад
If I remember correctly, this one is made in China while the Affinity is made in Indonesia, I believe. I’ve played both, and I can tell you this one has a much higher-quality feel to it and better pickups. That said, the Affinity is not a bad bass.
@kirb.e1262
@kirb.e1262 5 лет назад
Rumblin Man thanks for the quick response man! I just recently sold my affinity p bass and was looking for something of higher quality. Good to know. A problem I’m running into playing bass (I’m a guitarist) is how wide the neck is. Quite an adjustment
@RumblinMan
@RumblinMan 5 лет назад
@@kirb.e1262 Hey bro, I definitely understand. When I first got into bass I went with a Jazz Bass, because the sound is versatile and the neck is nice and narrow. The Squier I recommend is the Vintage Modified 70's Jazz Bass ( amzn.to/2PR3TsX ). It's one of the best basses Squier makes. If you can spend a few hundred more, though, I'd really recommend for you Fender's new Player Series Jaguar Bass (amzn.to/2NR3Qse ). I recently did a review of one (which you can see on my channel), and I like it because it gives you great Fender quality, great PJ tone, and a very narrow neck at a fair price. Hope that is helpful! :D

Rumblin Man thanks man I’ll check them out and watch your video. I love the classic 50’s squier bass that thing’s sick. As good as squier is there’ll always be the lingering thought that it’s not a fender!😂😂thanks again man

Rumblin Man I remember your sonic blue one. I play Ibanez basses, but always wanted to bond with Fender due to their being the quintessential bass sound. I'm considering giving the Sire basses a shot. Have you tried those yet?
@RumblinMan
@RumblinMan 6 лет назад
Very cool! I've not played Sire basses for myself, but have heard excellent things and guarantee you'd like it. I recommend leaving Ibanez for Fender any day of the week. Fender, in my opinion, is the best producer of bass guitars (as well as some other companies that make Fender-style basses).

Is the neck slim like the jazz bass.
@RumblinMan
@RumblinMan 5 лет назад
WhiteFeather not quite as slim as a jazz, in my opinion.
@donnix768
@donnix768 4 года назад
WhiteFeather It is a true precision bass, the neck is 1.625 at the nut which is a modern p neck. Think of this as a P bass with an extra pickup in the bridge as opposed to a P/J bass in electronics and build.
