She appears to be wild and not a pet. Even if she was a pet I think this lady would know the proper way to feed the little girl so this wouldn't happen. Rodents need to constantly grind down their teeth or this happens and they die from starvation.
Theyre teeth get like this when they dont have theyre natural diet wich consists of hard nuts and other berries etc. The food they are supposed to eat are what helps to file theyre ever growing teeth. This is the same for rabbits and most rodents.
All rodents have this problem - if for whatever reason they don't constantly chew and wear away at their teeth, or their teeth get damaged and lose alignment, they'll get like this and it's basically a death sentence after a certain point because at first they can't eat, and in the end their teeth can even pierce their mouth and cause an infection. Happens to some birds as well (their beaks grow indefinitely too, just like rodent teeth)
Yes, it takes a good heart, what a lovely little video (the squirrel talk was hilarious!) - she certainly saved his life. The editor of this video needs a great big fat smooch on their face - great job! I can't imagine how they caught caught that thing, those little critters operate at the speed of light.
Their teeth don't stop growing until they die. The only reason those teeth were so long is that the squirrel wasn't knawing on enough abrasive stuff.
😅😅😅😅Well they can’t wear braces like we can so, this makes sense to me. I have a small mouth, so they had to extract my back teeth and pull the rest straight. Took five years. My roots are stubborn. 😅
I had no idea squirrels’ teeth could be clipped like this. I know they gnaw to keep them from getting too long, but I didn’t ever think about them needing or being able to be nipped off. We rescued a nearly dead baby squirrel when I was a kid. When he was strong and healthy, we tried to set him free, but he wouldn’t go. He eventually got to the point where he would go run around on tree limbs. But if we started to go inside, he would run down and jump on our shoulders. He just wanted to be part of our family. Even our cats loved him. We’d see them sleeping together sometimes. His favorite thing was climbing up our pant legs and curling up behind our knees for a warm nap. He loved sleeping there. It tickled and scratched, but it was worth it. ❤ Thank you for helping this little one. He wasn’t happy, but he knew you were helping. ❤ ❤❤
@@jasminflowerz1710 Thank you. I wish I could say he’s fine. But this was 40 years ago. He’s buried in my dad’s backyard with a little headstone. His name was Max. ❤️ There’s actually an attic door still in my dad’s house that Max LOVED to gnaw on. I always smile when I see those marks. 😊 I still miss the little booger.
@@theoriginaleb9616 It's heartwarming to hear that his memory is cherished and honored after his death with his own tombstone and grave🙏. He was indeed, special with his unique personality! May his soul/ spirit rest in peaceful Paradise🙏🩵🕊️along with the other angel pets, including my baby (16 year old Chihuahua) who passed away in November 2021 and had his own personality as well, very much like a human!
❤Absolutely love what you are doing for squirrels ❤ I love squirrels and I feed them year round. I never knew that they could have such dental issues. ❤
Awww at the end he was so happy and chill! He totally realized you were helping him and got so calm and sweet when he realized you had just saved his life. Couldn't imagine the pain that poor guy was in
Poor, poor creature. Nature is so amazing and yet so incredibly brutal. The care shown to an often overlooked and uncared for "just some squirrel" is one of the ways in which humanity redeems itself. This is what our lives should be about. Thoughtfulness, concern, gentleness, intelligence, and healing. Thank you so much for the work you do. If it makes a difference to one conscious entity, it's worth it.
Rodent teeth constantly grow. That’s why if you have a hamster as a pet, you want them to have a wooden chew toy for them to wear it down with. This squirrel’s teeth though looked they weren’t coming in correctly though so chewing on nuts and bark must have been hard
@PeterRudesindus if they don't naw on stuff there teeth grow probably a rehab were it was being bottle fed has nothing to do with the squirrels genetics lok
Although scuridae (squirrels) chew many things, they usually keep top and bottom incisors worn down by rubbing them against each other. Overgrowth can be caused by innate or acquired jaw misalignment from things such as accident or illness. Much love to this cute squirrel and kind person!❤❤

I had a rabbit whose teeth would grow out of control like that and about every 3 months, I would take him to the vet to have the cut off like that. I’m pretty sure his Jaw was dislocated because he was in a cage with another rabbit for a while, but we separated them when they started fighting. Shortly after that his teeth started to grow. Basically his top and bottom teeth didn’t meet so they would grind. He also didn’t really like to chew like other rabbits so that didn’t help keep his teeth down either. Now both him and our old vet have passed on. I miss them both greatly. He was a great rabbit to have, and the vet was an amazing and caring vet in our little community.
Wow what a beautiful thing to do and to actually notice that abnormality and with such precision and gentle care that makes my heart smile huge Ooooooh thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rodents actually have to grind their teeth down or they get overgrown (although this one has a condition). So im assuming they don't have nerve endings in their teeth like we do, or at least they're very short and don't run along the whole tooth 😅
@@marklowman2935using clips to trim teeth in any animal is bad, nerves or no nerves. It makes hairline fractures in the teeth and now the squirrel can’t term it’s own teeth at all. Use a file for the squirrel’s health.
@@taniahwright139 She cut them, and then used a file. How is that different from only using a file (except that with the file only it would take forever to trim those teeth down)? Use some common sense, people.
