You cannot believe that he still had that great voice even though he was near death and could hardly stand up. A true trouper and star the likes of which we will never see again. You should watch Brian, Roger and John sing a tribute to Freddie which is called 'No One But You (Only The Good Die Young)' I think you would enjoy it as it shows how they felt about him.
I love this song but it really tugs hard on me and can make me cry. It is difficult to see Freddie looking so sick and thin but to see him pushing through and not giving up is so inspiring. He used this song to say his goodbye to his fans and that loyalty is humbling. Freddie had cats, he loved cats. The vest he is wearing is made of fabric that was specially made for him and it is images of his own cats. It is a fitting tribute to them as well. It is said that Freddie's final body movement was stroking one of his cats. Sigh...it is so sad because even 30 years later, is is as though Freddie is somehow still with us but also as though we all knew him personally. It is so odd how that seems to be such a common feeling among his fans. We still love Freddie. Freddie was in a lot of pain at this time and half of one of his feet had actually rotted away. Standing was difficult, and yes, he was so very thin. His voice was still amazing and his spirit true. He loved performing and he is quoted as saying "When I can no longer perform, that is when I will die."
This is his last video, but his last vocal performance is 'Mother Love', but can you please wait to react to it? I need to recover from this one first! Brian had to finish the vocals on Mother Love. Great respectful reaction. Thank you.
@@Bestmusicreactions yes, Freddie died before finishing the last verse, so Brian a few years later sang it. Freddie was last in the studio in May 1991. He didn't have the strength to carry on. And subsequently died 6 months later. But he was expected nit to make it beyond Christmas 1990. Roger said he had to keep singing and recording, which I think is why Freddie made it to almost another year. He literally lived for his music. That is dedication.
Sadness. Just sadness. I can't help it. I've purposefully kept away from this one. Like Romeo and Juliet. I always avoid because of the tragedy of the ending. Lovely speech at the end my friend.
When I first saw this video, I couldn't believe it could have been Freddie. Roger wrote this song about his children and life in general, but it took on a whole new meaning in Freddie's interpretation. The band's manager arranged an animated video because of Freddie's seriously bad condition, but Freddie didn't want to say goodbye to the world as a pencil drawing. He wore cashmere underwear because he was always very cold due to the high weight loss, but he also wore the painted waistcote which is decorated with the images of his beloved cats, he loved them as his babies. Freddie had an extremely strong personality, he never regretted anything, he was never complaining about anything, he was living for the music. His illness could break him very late only, he gave up the fight when he could no longer sing, after Mother Love which he couldn't finish.
Freddie was so weak that he never moved from the spot he was on throughout the video. But he was such a great showman that his postures, gestures, head movements and expressions helped make it such a wonderful (although melacholic) goodbye.
Queen are usually very good about not blocking videos, or anything else. And they have retained ownership of the rights to all of their material. BTW-Brian was out of the country when this video was made and added his part when he returned which is why you don't see him with the rest of the band. Songwriting credited to Queen. Actually written by Roger Taylor.
Never ashamed to admit I “fill up” every time I have watched this heartbreaking video of “our Freddie”. To just say “it’s sad” is just 🥺 😟there just isn’t a “right word” but hey, Proving he was ALWAYS the showman, right to his very sad end - I would just wish for one miracle - to tell Freddie just HOW he made us happy and love him - his concert “theatrics” how he could just walk out on stage, raise an arm and we, the audience, would be just waiting with anticipation to follow any of Freddie’s instructions …. He just could do no wrong and whilst he knew his “stage power”, he was never arrogant or pompous and always included Brian, John and Roger in his performances. He could be “as camp as Christmas” with his stage act - strutting up and down - and the more he “showed off”, the more we loved him - Freddie was a one off. No one will ever better him …. He was FREDDIE a true super⭐️
Whoa Squirrel that last line always gets me when he looks down the camera lens and says' I still love you.' It was said at this point he was so ill it took lots of make up and strength to keep going but he was determined to the end. A beautiful poignant song. Thank you for reacting to it. 🕊️
@@dav147 😄No, I just put that middle name in there because: 1) I can "subtly" tell everyone that I'm Freddie obsessed, and: 2) It's fun to see who ACTUALLY knows Freddie's real name.😅 (So, you definitely WIN.)🖖
Mother Love was the last song recorded by Freddie, it was released after his death and he wasn’t able to finish it so Brian May sung the final verse. I don’t think there’s a video for the song, but you should listen to it….it’s not as thought provoking as this song……
There is a video for Mother Love but IMO it really detracts from the beauty of the song. It is definitely worth checking out the Queen Official Lyric Video of Mother Love. Freddie had finished recording the second verse and said he would come back to finish the song but he never did. Brian May finished the last verse. He wrote the song with Freddie in mind and finished the song out with sound clip regressions. The sound clip regression included one of Freddie’s earliest recordings that he did under the name of Larry Lurex of an old Carole King song called Goin’ Back. I highly suggest reacting to this rarely heard recording of Freddie.
@@Bestmusicreactions Please skip the video for Mother Love--it was done by some students--has nothing to do with the song and is very distracting from the song which is very very poignant.
Beautiful. It still touches me. You should listen to one of , possibly his last song A Winter's Tale. It is absolutely beautiful ,IMO. It was about the view that he was able to see from his window. It's stunning. I think this one was his last video.
Always get a big lump in my throat listening to this song!! I start to tear up watching Freddie!! “Ain’t that a shame” 😿 Roger wrote this song about his kids!!It took on a new meaning with Freddie’s illness! 🥺
hello there dude, discovered your stuff a few days a go and you make me laugh ! .... glad to see an american who understands english humour ! .... i enjoyed watching your videos on fred dibnah and how you react to the mad things he does lol, the guy was a legend over here for having balls of steel ! .... health & safety ? WTF is that coz he has never heard of it lol ... i can tell that you have a huge liking for england and the way we do things over here, all the best to you sir and keep the funny stuff coming ! .... jason, cambridgeshire, england
I pretty sure this was his last appearance in a video he was very reluctant to look his best but he was not well god rest his soul he was a natural star ⭐️ ♥️🐿😽💋💋💋
Shame on RU-vid for butting up banners over the last 10 seconds of the video, blocking Freddie’s face during the most essential part of the video. Unforgivable.
Incredibly poignant..Really annoys me that in the Bo Rhap movie, his 'character' tells his bandmates he has AIDS before the Live Aid gig...utter nonsense (that was literally years before) and I can't believe Taylor and May (executive producers) allowed this to happen..RIP Freddie..and thx
Great reaction. An amazing track, quite beautiful. Rogers songs have a definitive style. I find it hard to watch the video though. I prefer the fan videos lol. I see mentions of mother love. Lyric video only. The official is bad (long story).
Thank you for letting it play , it was the last complete song he did, mother love was his last but Brian had to finish it. Brian’s guitar sounds like it’s crying 😢😢😢, hauntingly beautiful , how they all got through the making of this I don’t know, so raw and the pain on their faces, my heart goes out to the bravery of all of them❤❤❤ and thank you for making this last beautiful video for us, the Queen family of fans to cherish
Seeing Freddie as he was hit home the harsh reality of what the illness does. The song is seen as a 'goodbye' from Freddie and probably helped people too. It was only a few years later after his death that a stable antiviral drug came to the market that helped people manage the illness. The MPT(MERCURY PHEONIX TRUST) has raised and used the money to fund research and help communities around the world.
new sub here. glad I found your channel. A HUUUUGE Queen fan as well as Home Free... what are the odds??? Freddie was very sick in this video. such a giant loss with him gone. So glad I got to see him live in 1982. thanks for this reaction. and all of them actually
This was written by Roger reflecting about his life & family but it takes on another meaning when Freddie sings it x Roger has sung this too on Queen tours Tokyo 2014 is amazing x
This was the last video that Freddie made. He was very ill at this point but it is seen as his goodbye to the fans he loved. Actually, the last vocals that Freddie recorded were "Mother Love" which were recorded between 13-16 May 1991. This was a song jointly written by Freddie and Brian and was on the album "Made In Heaven". Upon reaching the final verse, Freddie told Brian that he had to go and “have a rest”, but that he would return later and finish it. After that, Freddie never made it back to the studio, and thus Brian sang the last verse on the track.
It really doesn't seem like over 30 years since we lost Freddie Mercury. This song still chokes me - especially when he whispers _"I still love you"_ at the end like he's talking to his fans. He sadly died the year this song was released. A beautiful swansong. It's still too raw for me. RIP Freddie. What a sorely missed talent.
This was Freddie's last video, but not the last song he recorded. You should check out the song titled "One by One, Only the Good Die Young) it was a tribute song that the boys recorded in Freddie's honor. It was the last recording John Deacon made with the band.
So sad. It was his last video, but he did sing the track to a Winters Tale, and maybe two more. But he was not on camera, and was sitting in the studio in Montreau. Brave Freddie. Love Freddie and Queen forever 💕💕🎤🎤🎵🎵
As sick as Freddie was, you can still see the fire and the spark in his eyes, in odd moments. So heartbreaking that only a few years later, he would have received the drugs needed to stabilise and go on. I grew up in a very religious family that would have agreed that he was receiving the just punishment for his sins, but I just grieve for a lovely human being, cut down in his prime. Thanks Squirrel.
THE SHOW MUST GO ON is the last song Freddie sang. There is no video with Freddie. He managed to get almost to the end of the lyrics when he started to feel very ill and told Brian that he needed to go home and rest. He said he would return the next day to finish but he never returned. He died. Brian had to sing the last lyrics for Freddie as he's voice was similar. The first time the song was performed live was when Adam Lambert joined QUEEN. All of the was revealed in an interview with Brian May.
It was written by roger for his children but took on a knew meaning after Freddie fell ill, he couldn’t have written more perfect lyrics, must have been very hard on roger to hear Freddie sing it in this video knowing it would be his last ❤
There is actually another version of this video with behind the scenes footage (if you can bare to watch it) he was incredibly ill at this stage and in a great amount of pain, he had an infection in his foot and could hardly stand, he’s wearing layers and layers of clothes and they caked him with makeup, that’s why it’s shot in black and white😢 but despite all this he was professional to the end and gave us one last goodbye, I was 13 when he passed and remember having to have the day off school because I was so distraught, his illness had been hidden and it was just heartbreaking, this single was no.1 shortly after and I remember watching it for the first time, heartbroken at what I saw and the “I still love you at the end” I was in floods of tears and 30 years later he still makes me cry, RIP Freddie, I will always love you x
It was written by Roger Taylor (the drummer) about his kids but it takes on a different meaning when Freddie sings it. It was 10 months before he passed. His last song was Mother Love which he did 1 day before he died and Dr Brian May (the guitarist and astrophysicist) completed the song.
Wow, that is painfully beautiful, that last line and look to camera is still as moving as 30years ago. It is heartbreaking that we lost so many talented and inspirational people to aids, at least it is no longer the death sentence it once was. Still miss you fred, thank you for sharing your life with us ❤
Thisis last video Freddie did. This and Mother love is saddest songs queen has. In Mother Love Brian had to sing last verse, because Freddie was so bad condition, that he didn't come back to studio 😔
Freddie was so sick doing this video he was in so much pain he could hardly stand he has lost part of his foot as well and that and the pain he was in was why there wasn't much movement but he wanted to do one last video to say goodbye to his fans it is absolutely heart breaking
Another Queen Video recorded around the same time called “I’m going slightly mad” Even though these final songs are hard to watch because it tinged with sadness, they were so fantastically artistic in there use of B+W and they still sound as if they were made yesterday . Genius. Great reaction 👍🏻😎
This song was my goodbye song from Freddie. At the end, when he said I love you. It hit me hard. Then I saw One By One. I miss you, Freddie. We never met, but with your music it felt like you knew me better than anyone.
According to the documentary made after his death he was determined to make tbe album while he was still able. Hard video to watch, he is still the greatest though😥
Brings tears every time. You should watch this one too:- Brian, John and Roger, No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oLKyaOLb2Fs.html'
He was in a lot of pain when he did the final album but was determined to see it through to the end. The show must go on ...! Always will be dearly loved.
try i'm going slightly mad.it's also near the end and in black and white. have you done love of my life after he passed brian may sits on stage by himself and plays then freddie comes on the video screen and sings and brian reaches out his hand at the end so it looks like their hands touch.
I'm subscribing because I also find them " a truly frickin' amazing band. ". The second reason I'm subscribing is that you don't interrupt the music to comment. I'm not denigrating those who do - to each his own, as the say, but I appreciate the special respect you show this incredible group by just Listening to them. I didn't read these comments you've got here, but I'm pretty sure someone's already told you this, but just in case they haven't... you're right in that this is the final video he ever did. But its not the final song. That one is Mother Love, which he couldn't quite finish. Brian sang the final verse. ( and they outdid themselves in producing this piece. The musical accompaniment is incredible. )
Thank You for joining the squad and I’m glad you appreciate my style. I want everyone to buoy the song through, I write notes and discuss after. I will get to mother love soon
@@Bestmusicreactions Do Mother Love when you're ready, and not before. It's one of their most beautiful compositions, but also one of their most depressing. You have to be in the right frame of mind for it. Cheers. Talk to you again one day. 😊
This song when played on the radio gets fans very emotional and sometimes very angry too, You see the end part where he looks into the camera and says 'I STILL OVE YOU' rips you to shreds. But radio stations think it's the perfect time to talk over the end or even cut it short (I'VE SCREAMED AT THE RADIO). My local BBC station here in the UK has got the message and one of the presenters admitted on air that the station had got some listener responses not too pleased. it has not happened again.
you can tell he was very ill.the loose clothes, the what i call old guy trainers, that it was filmed in black and white and he looked like he had a full face of makeup on. thanks for your heartfelt words you hit the nail on the head!let's keep him alive by passing the music on! i watched this to see if i could make it through without crying as this is one of the songs that sets me off.i got half way through the first corus and am now a mess so it's still too soon.
Thank you for that heartfelt reaction, your comments are just what all Freddie fans feel. Such a beautiful song with meaningful lyrics, given the situation he was in. "You can't turn back the clock..." is the line that always gets to me.
It was actually written by and about Roger Taylor and his family, but took on a different meaning so Roger gave it to Fred, and it wasn't the last song he recorded if you look at the documentary by the same name, it'll give you a background of the whole group, I think this was filmed about three or so months before he passed away, he just kept going, and choose when he'd give up the treatment he was receiving, and the cats on his waistcoat, he had a love for cats, I think he had around 10 in his life
I would love to see you do a reaction to Tracy Chapman and Eric Clapton performing "Give me one reason". It's got it all. Here's the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YIXh0JNvuHs.html
