So the little video Squishy is almost reaching 8million. A number that I thought wasn't gonna happen. In celebration of it, and for those who subscribed to my channel despite being inactive forever, I'll host AMA. Maybe I'll make a new video for the first time in 12 years. Leave your questions in this thread!
king abdullah Unless that female happens to be an anime fan. They're usually okay with this stuff (thankfully). *edit* lol my point has already been proven. Turns out, the person who made this was a woman. And an anime fan.
Because its the highlight of this website. Stuff like this were made by creators who actually gave a flying fuck about themselves and the art they wanted to put out. This was part of the golden age of youtube. Now, any idiot with a webcam can have a channel and upload irl films or what they ate last week. there is zero creativity. So enjoy this slice of gold while it still exists on this platform. It won't be long before they start cleaning house and everything we once loved will be gone forever.
That actually happened to me one time In school, 8th grade i guess. I was going down a ramp to reach the hall, and this girl right behind me get a wrong step and starts falling. In the heat of the moment i just put my arm in front of her, and well... i succesfully stopped her from falling, but got my hand on something SQUISHY. We just stood there looking at each other for 3 seconds in complete silence, when other people started noticing what happened and suddenly she just says "you freak!", push me away and RUN. The rest of the day i got strange looks from every fucking girl around the school. These things spread fast
When I'm in middle school we were to perform a dance on stage and I forgot my bag on our classroom. I open the door and saw that all the girls are changing inside. I'm so shocked but I managed to get my bag and I ran outside. I guess they are all shocked aswell because they just stared at me and didnt say anything. After that news spread but luckily most of them just laughed it of specially my guy friends. I remmember they where praising me jokingly and shit.
This was so amazing! I love the art style/colors and I was absolutely dumbfounded when Carnival started playing!! I love The Pillows and FLCL so much and I feel the use of that song was done extremely well with this animation.
1toncheese Reading him explaining himself, and another person that doesn't have to prove himself replying, was better than I would've suspected from these type of comments..
I was revisiting some old "inspiration" playlists and I suddenly came back to this... Man, this teleported me some years ago, when I first saw this and thought: I don't even know the author of this animation, but I hope he/she gets a nice grade, and an epic summer or something like that. Since now I'm a different person, I'll act accordingly and ask instead of just thinking to myself. Did you get a nice grade? If you are still in touch with art, did you get a job as an animator? Also, because you made me kinda happy when I first saw this, I hope you achieve happiness in return. More than that, I command you to find joy! >:]
I chanced upon your comment in my inbox and I was compelled to reply. I'm not sure why. I've been quiet on this channel for all these years but I feel kindness in your comment and I feel like I must repay the same. So here it goes. First off, thank you. It brings me great joy that my stupid little humor has brought you happiness. And I'd like to extend this to all the others who felt the same and left me kind messages. You must understand. You see, I had no idea that this short would get this many hits when I first uploaded it back in 2009. It was the early days of RU-vid and the notable contents were like 2 guys singing Backstreet Boys or Smosh's pokemon sing-a-long. I posted it because I thought it was stupid and I had forgotten about it. I also switched to a different email account at that point so I had no idea this was getting this much traction for nearly 5 years. By the time when I rediscovered my own video, there was a large active conversations in the comment sections and even conspiracies about whether I was dead or alive. I found that...extremely amusing and decided to let it continue. I figured it would lose its steam at some point and would be a neat thing to note in my resume. But here we are 6 more years after that and to my surprise, it's still going. Still getting comments from kind strangers. Like yourself(ves) :) So to answer your question, Did I get a nice grade? I honestly don't remember. I was already falling out of love with animation in general so I was just trying my best to get through the finish line. I didn't bother checking my GPA that semester. I think I did get honors? I don't remember. Did I get a job as an animator? Nah. I did stay in arts though. I went to learn 3d after graduation and have ended up in the VFX industry. I found a tiny start-up studio and met many awesome people (including my fiance) and found some life-long relationships. Last year, we made a film together called Code 8 which I am immensely proud of and we are hoping to continue to create content like that. I still draw too though. And I still love anime. And I still love FLCL. (though a little bit on the fences about the remake) Am I happy? hmm...Yes! I am! Of course, that's not always the case. There were many challenges that I, the person who made this stupid little short could have foreseen. But through it all, I gained experience, strength, and most importantly my people. I'm sure there are many to come still. But I'm happy because I'm grateful for the people who will get me through it. You could say, I'm generally excited about life. Gotta say, thanks for allowing me to reflect my last 10+ years. HAHA! This video and its comment thread have become some sort of a time capsule for me. I wonder what it will be like next time I come back to this. Thanks, friend. I hope you found joy as well! Godspeed.
@@s2opia I'm not a superstitious person, but somehow I foresaw that you were going to reply. I guess intuition is a skill that you can develop as well ^-^ As you said, there was no way you knew this was going to blow up since early RU-vid is "RNG personified". Ironically, I think that part of the reason is also that. People (me included, I guess) are kinda sceptical in regards to honesty and intentions of others. Art created for the sake of art is ten billion times more meaningful than a Viral-wannabe intention. No clickbait, no revenue digger, Raid Shadow Legends ad needed or guidelines restriction... I think this video represents what we all liked from old RU-vid, and works as a symbol. In a sense, it's also a time capsule for the viewers, isn't that amazing?! You can just disconnect from the world's pace and enjoy 2 full minutes, like you used to when times were more simple. On the other hand, I asked about the job because I didn't want to fall in a cognitive bias and assume just out of this video that you are The Chosen One and you only have one option now, which is working with Gainax, or something like that. Life has many paths, and happiness has many forms. My happiness comes from the same place as yours: deep and strong bonds with people that, thankfully, enjoy my company and flaws. The journey (and not the goal) of achieving inner peace is also something that brings a smile to my face. At the end of the day, it's always the small things that matter the most. With that said... I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WORKED ON CODE 8!! I remember watching the movie the same day it came fresh to my Netflix! I love cyberpunk dystopias... Or dystopias, in general. "2020" is my favorite dystopia at the moment. "Written by Stephen King and directed by Quentin Tarantino". Anyway, to think that after all these years I'm still connected to your art in some way is heartwarming, to be honest. I can't wait to see in what circumstances we will meet next time :]
Whoa! I don't know if you are serious but if I did inspire you to draw then holy fuck I did something good. Yay! To answer your questions..xD 1. I'm on IG, Tumblr, and TW as soap1x. And as soapnrye on Reddit. It's pretty scarce tho. I haven't been doing art deligently as I was trying to keep up with VFX schedule. 2. As most ppl guessed here, the Pillows and FLCL are just my favs. Carnival especially is my No.1 fav track of all time. 3. I'd say it changed somewhat but the overall feel of it stayed the same..? idk... XD What do you think? 4. Hmm.. I probably had taken some cues from other characters but I can't remember that far back. I do have a bias for bob hairs tho.
Couples are born in the weirdest way... One time my brother tried to impress some girl at the beach who was into sports. So he went and dove into the sea. There was one tiny little problem though: he can't swim. So, as you'd expect, he lost every grain of confidence he had right then and began to move around in a panic. The girl got him out of the water and thought it was kind of a stupid move he did. And that's the day they began dating each other :P
This depicts my life completely. U get a crush, then u get hurt then u get embarrassed. Only difference is this all happened in 2 minutes. Usually takes less time for me.
I can't help but feel strange knowing this was the last upload made by this person, and it was back in 2009. I wonder if this person has moved on to bigger and better things, or just forgot about this account and is still on the internet, or maybe this person is dead.
This animation comes across as a little nostalgic even though it is my first time watching it. The music, the art style, the tropes, you name it. This feels as if it would have legitimately aired as its own series during the mid-2000s, so it speaks even more volumes that you have matched the professional standards of that time. Amazing work, s2opia. Edit: Literally seconds after writing this, I understand this is a 2009 work, but I still think you have nailed everything well enough for it to be respected as other pieces of its time than just some animation work.
Sigh...i love how people hate things when they dont even know anything about it. (Can u feel my sarcasm?) Now if someones taken time to see more than one anime that are decent and they dont like it its okay, but im saying those who cant wait to spit out shit when they dont know anything about it. It pisses me off, thats like someone saying that a certain race is worse than another based on steriotypes and this one little 30 second clip they saw that one time, and dont take the time to look a bit further.
@@anecro Remember watching cringe videos as a kid? Exactly. Your preferences changed over the years so something you thought was funny 10 years ago might sound unbearable to listen to today.
that being said, I think this is supposed to be more reflective of the asian culture where asian women are slap-happy; basically the counter to the trigger happy white women of america and the .. happy happy of canadian women. If you are any of these, I mean not to offend you.
I last watched this in 2011/12 and I stumbled across it now. This 2 minute masterpiece hit me with a giant dose of nostalgia man. I read his replies to one of the comments. I'm glad he's happy in life. I'll watch his movie "Code 8", got high expectations now;) GO ON GUYS YOU DO TOO!!
okay I understand she tripped and fell and His Hands accidentally ended up on her breasts, I was okay with that. BUT THEN HE GOES AND SQUEEZES THEM AND I'M SITTING HERE FREAKING OUT LIKE WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT??? YOU PROBABLY JUST FREAKED HER OUT MORE!
It's so sad how it's true that a simple thank you or a compliment can completely change a man mood, even if from a girl who is clearly not interested in him.
one of my favorite songs of all time. i hear it again and suddenly i'm a kid again in the early 2000's. i love the color palette for this project, too.
Mr.Dream Carnival, by a japanese band called The Pillows. this is the instrumental, the one with vocals is around 3 minutes long. good band, great song.
I Knew that I had heard the song from somewhere. I like the simplistic concept, at least the characters look like real people unlike the crappie stuff they got now in animation in the U.S. channels.
