Jagadguru Sri Vruddha Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamiji, the 32nd Shankaracharya of Sringeri Matha, who inspired this hymn is briefly written about here: www.sringeri.ne....
The composer of this beautiful hymn is his disciple, Jagadguru Sri Sacchidaananda Sivaabhinava Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamiji, the 33rd Shankaracharya in the unbroken lineage of Jagadgurus of Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham located in Karnataka. A few words on him and a picture are available here: www.sringeri.ne.... It was he who announced Kalady as the childhood home of Adi Shankaracharya, led there by an inner vision of the small pillar erected in honour of Adya Shankaracharya's mother departure from this world. His inner relationship was clearly not only to the guru who initiated him and taught him, but also to others who had transcended the boundaries of time, place, social customs and the physical body. His successor and disciple, Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Bharathi Mahaswamiji, the 34th Shankaracharya of Sringeri Math, is known as the Saint of Sringeri. A little more on him: www.sringeri.ne.... All that needs to be known about them is available at www.sringeri.net, which also has a pdf with the words of the hymn in Devnagari alongwith its transliteration and translation into English: www.sringeri.ne...
The audio track is a home recording and hence, imperfect. The visuals are still photos of the Kedarnath mountains (some photos are by Valentine Skyback) arranged in random order. The only other photo is of the memorial to Adya Shankaracharya at Kedarnath and can be seen as one walks towards his samadhi behind the Kedarnath temple. The version used in this video is at:www.chinmayahou... with Devnagari script, English transliteration and translation.
One who is blessed with the presence of guru in life understands the inexpressible significance of such a blessing. Gratitude is always inadequate. Feet carry the person, makes movement possible. Paduka or footwear, protect the feet. Thus paduka become worthy of worship.
For better impact of this video, watch on widescreen TV using a PC-TV connector cable and connect your PC to an amplifier. For best impact, memorise the hymn, carry them in your heart to Kedarnath and sing the hymn there. This can be done mentally too, if physical travel is not possible. Your Guru responds to each and every communication of yours.
