Not all old things are inferior. These folks seem working hard to keep these aircrafts in top shape. Do not expect they are up to modern levels of performance, but they are still in flyable conditions. Salute to the ground crews.
These are J-7, Chinese built Mig-21. Those canopies open backward. In the Russian built it is opened forward. And in this video there are two types of wing shape. Two jets with the original Mig-21 delta shape. The others with modified outer wing. It is also have slighty longer wingspan ang leading edge drop. It can be seen during taxy before take off. At the begining of the video is the one with modified outer wing section. The leading edge and trailing edge are not straight line as in original delta. In landing sequence jets no 2 and 4 are the ones with modified outer wing section. Nice documentation video of your contry. I am from Indonesia we also have had Mig-21 from Sovyet in 1960s periode. Documentation video for Indonesian Mig-21 is very rare.
This is better than the Soviet/Russian Mig~ 21 by miles. Pakistan has been using them for 40 year’s & did not find any fault in these beautiful air craft because the were built on the plants which were set up by the West specially Northrop/ owing employees who were their on contract and those plants are updated with American & Western technologies .
@@MrAjithutube nope.. Much less now. They are being replaced as quickly as new planes are built. And as mentioned. They've also turned some to unmanned drones but still considered j7
Yes but the thing is, Sri Lanka has no use for new and state of the art fighter aircraft. The main threat was the LTTE and now they are gone. The Sri Lanka Military as a whole is and will continue to experience major downsizing while they mantain their current fleet of aircraft. That said, if government corruption subsides, you may see more modern equipment being delivered to the whole SL Military but that is a massive long shot.
@laurentdevaux5617 My dear fellow countryman, Be respectful to our neighbour Lanka . Srilanka doens't fly an F16 , because its not their necessity. They are not in an arms race as China Vs India/US Vs Russia . They don't possess the extent of security threat as We . This old Chinese fighter is enough to satisfy their needs . Who knows Sri Lanka will become a big economy in the future. Our motive is to educate our neighbours about the "Chinese Debt trap" , not to insult them .
@@ananthu8534 You're right, Sri Lanka probably doesn't need such top notch fighters, as India isn't a threat to it. I totally agree with you about the "Chinese debt trap" and didn't intend to insult this country. However, if Sri Lanka thinks these planes are enough to satisfy their needs, well... but who knows the future will be. By the way, i'm not one of your fellow countryman, I'm French, and I congratulate your great country for its choice. Buying Rafale was a clever decision, it's an outstanding plane
Sri Lanka Airforce can buy old second hand airplanes like MIG-21 BISON or MIG-29 models from Indian Airforce for low economical money costs if Sri Lanka needs more airplanes!
@@Dodilafir my dear friend....mig 21 aka' flying coffin' is much older , have experienced more flying hours and have seen more combat than it's cheap Chinese copy F7
@@user-ux6xe8pm5u While I agree with you on Mig21's combat capabilities, experience and being older than its Chinese counterparts I differ on its flying hours as it has flown extensively with PLA airforce and various other 3rd world partners. For example Bangladesh and Ceylon were flying these from 1990's if I'm not mistaken.
The most powerful fighter plane on the earth...J-7 form biggest copy master on the earth called China.. Chinese copy of Russian MIG-21 Well-done Sri Lanka..😅😅😅 By the way...who is your enemy...!!
This is at least 14 years old video. Most of these jets are retired now. Also don’t worry about there enemies. They were already destroyed their enemies 14 years ago.
Sri Lanka sold its soul to China in exchange for 6 of these jets and a billion dollars of military equipment. They won the war, but was it worth it in the end?
F-7 is the Chinese copy of Mig-21.Russia (USSR) also copied US bomber B-29 and renamed it as TU-4.Israel made Kfir jet too the copy of the French Dassault Mirage 2000.
I think (@hardeshmanhas4102) does not know much about fighter jets. More than anything Sri Lanka finished a 30 year war decisively in the battlefield victory using these air crafts.
Atleast better than your flying coffin's, these machines are still airborne and combat proven since 60s till 2009,If you and Abinandan want tea we have the best tea in srilanka we are pleased to offer
