I think your explanation is incorrect. ⚠⚠⚠ People chose AKD as a solution to the current corrupt political culture of crony capitalism and nepotism, which has led to numerous issues like the breakdown of the rule of law, a dysfunctional government system, economic crises, corruption in healthcare, and many other sectors. It’s not just about tax reduction or negotiations with the IMF.

Just because AKD's party was resisted with Indian military involvement in 1987 or they are questioning about Adani’s projects in 2024, it doesn’t mean Sri Lanka is automatically siding with China. There’s a lot more complexity here, and things aren’t just black and white. There's plenty of middle ground between those extremes.

As a result, both major parties were rejected by the people. After 72 years of enduring the same corrupt political cycle, the public has now opted for a different party, signaling a demand for real change.
