When Gotabaya won, in hindsight that was the best thing that happened to Sri Lanka. Gotabaya, with his absolute incompetence opened the eyes of Sri Lankans. People finally rose up together, they realized the biggest cancer in the country was it's corrupt politicians. Lack of equal application of law, corrupt police and attorney generals department have been the supply line for corruption in Sri Lanka. Today AKD stands a chance to win thanks to Gotabaya's stupidity. If he didn't bring the country to it's knees, most Sri Lankans would have gone ahead with the same wretched system. AKD has a lot to prove. But his rise to the presidency from a impoverished, rural background... A boy who used to sell sweets in a train to help his parents manage expenses... a man who clearly has dedicated his life for others as his wife too was taken in marriage by AKD after his best friend was killed and leaving his wife destitute. Such a man is what Sri Lanka needs. A man with morals. A man who knows hunger and felt it in person... A man who knows loss as his close friends were brutally murdered by the state... If he fails Sri Lanka too, we truly have no hope. Best of luck for Sri Lanka and may AKD have the vision, the morals, the strength to change the course of a beautiful nation that has lost it's path decades ago.

At present our foreign reserve is around US dollars 3.5 billions. We need at least US 6 billion dollars to pay loans per year. At the moment we are surviving on IMF support. If someone says we have recovered from our economic crises, he or she is nuts.
