I'm from Mangalore, India. 35 years ago a Srilankan friend and colleague of mine gave me an audio tape with non-stop Srilankan Baila songs. It was so nice, I don't know how much I and my family loved it. A relative of mine borrowed the tape and did not return as the tape got damaged because of playing it repeatedly. Srilankan baila and Mangalorean/Goan sonds sound similar because of Portugese influence. Now I go to RU-vid and listen to Srilankan music. Love you Srilanka.
In the 1960s, Sri Lankan pop music was heavily influenced by Latin American music with many bands taking Spanish/pseudoSpanish names eg -Neville Fernando & Los Caballeros -Joe B Perera & Los Muchachos -Los Flamencos -La Bambas
