Why 80% rice transplanting is still done by hand ? They transplant by hand because of they have not find suitable planters. There are many types excellent planters but all of them have high requests against: (1) field, (2) rice seedlings, (3) operator. In most cases these requests can not follow and can not meet by farmers, so they have to transplant by hand. Details as follows: 1 Field 1.1 Field must in big size. In fact, there are many small scale field, many terrace field in Mountainous areas. In this case those planters can not use. 1.2 Mud can not too watery, also can not too dry. Again can not meet for most farmers and areas. 1.3 Water depth must between 1 -- 3 cm. This is not possible in many areas. 1.4 Mud must to be even/ flat. 2 Rice seedlings All those planters can not planting traditional rice seedlings, they are designed for plastic tray seedlings. But to growing seedlings in plastic tray is not easy and not accepted by most farmers, they dislike to do so. If there is no plastic tray seedlings, then all those planters will become decorations.
