Welcome, Josh to Sri Lanka. An honest review is always welcomed. We all know that Sri Lankan airlines is undergoing a severe financial crisis, but at least some good content would help them to overcome that. Content in the sense whole airlines is overcrowed with staff nowadays, so we badly need a revolution

I'm just glad that the soft product has survived the financial hurdles that has been plaguing the sri lankan for a while now. I doubt that sri lankan will make a order on new jets not just given the terrible financial situation the airline is in, but also given the state of overall sri lankan economy. Hopefully, you will get to enjoy the excellent sri lankan airline service with a brand new jet in the near future.

I was in Sri Lanka 3 weeks ago! Stayed one month there. Been there many many times and will go again! :) And very true Sri Lankan airlines personnel are most friendliest! :)

Sri Lankan seems to have thing about oversupplying alcohol. We were flying from Colombo to Singapore and the passenger next to us was drinking beer after beer until we feared he might be sick or pass out. He then realised he had drunk enough and asked for water. The crew member said, "I'm sorry sir, the water tap isn't working. Would you like some more beer?"

I've always enjoyed excellent service on board SriLankan airlines over the years. The crew have been consistently good. I truly hope for a speedy tum around for the airline and some good new aircraft to add to the fleet👍🏼

Flew SriLankan from Heathrow to the Maldives via Colombo back in 2017. Cabin crew were very nice with lovely outfits. Food and booze were great, and as far as I can remember, the seats were clean and nothing was falling apart. Can't remember the plane makes.

It seems like SriLankan has a very good soft product and agree they need to look at modernizing their fleet. Too bad though their dire financial condition would not let them do so without getting even more debt that they have now. The Sri Lankan economy is also not doing too well…

Love Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan. Warm and hospitable crew which just reflects the country. Zero attitude unlike more lauded carriers. Any crew that serves you a decent G&T is pure gold in my opinion.I have no issue with older aircraft as long as the are well maintained.I would actively seek out A330 flights myself. The cleanliness issue you highlighted is actually a very poor reflection on the cleaning crew at Frankfurt but you can encounter sloppy cleaning at most airports. C'mon Sri Lankan you can do this. Refurb the cabin and then make that order. There's lots of ❤ out there for you guys.

I love Sri Lanka and its warm hospitality. My friend in Kandy wants me to come back there. The arrival process seems ok compared to many places, so that may end up happening soon as Europe and other places descend backwards into lockdowns. I have only flown a couple of sectors on SriLankan. Your experiences have been consistent with mine, even down to the Gin and Tonics.

It makes me sad to hear this from a foreigner.These days Srilanka is in a huge economical and political crisis.so nothing works fine like they were used to be.Sri lankan Airlines don't have enough money left even to modernise the existing fleet.also sadly system is facing mismanagement problems and corruption.But the crew is doing their best.I hope we will recover from this state soon.

The Sri Lankan government is too busy getting into further debt with the Chinese Communist Party....then to worry about spending money on something useful....like their national carrier. I've always wanted to visit Sri Lanka. Ive heard the people are so warm and it's an amazing country with rich culture. It's just their government that puts me off a little...

Thanks for the Sri Lankan review. It reminds me of many flights on Air Lanka L1011s back in the 1980s, tired and run down aircraft but the best service and the friendliest crews. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose 😉.

Josh, Welcome to Sri Lanka 😎 As a proud Srilankan & an aviation fan, really glad that people like you are coming to Sri Lanka and making this your home for couple of years. Even though the country is having a difficult time with the economy and the corrupted political members and some corrupted officers make our country poor and poor by corruption, racism, bribe and mismanagement, we still hope that we can overcome this issues and make our country great again. We have got some good intelligent Srilankans (apart from some people who still falls to the lies of politics, and falls to their traps such as racism etc and fight with their own fellow srilankans and help the country to fall apart) some real fascinated people who can turn the country great again, and people like you josh, will be a real help to build our country, specially the aviation sector, to be the best airline in asia, its going to be challenging but it is well achievable. Hope your reviews will open eyes of good people who can and will change the system and adapt with the new technologies which will help to grow the airline and as well as the Proud country, Sri Lanka.

Seems to me as Sri Lankan offers such a great soft product, a cabin refurb might be the more economical solution to their problems . The average age of their -200s is still very young and their -300s can easily be retrofitted with a modern cabin to ensure many more years of comfortable flying .

I agree with Josh - SL needs to upgrade their fleet. If the Sri Lankan Gov. can screw up SL Cricket team & management, so can SL mess with their airline. Upgrade now, or else other airlines with eat into SL profits.

Honestly its not about the age of the airlines equipment, its about how they maintain them. KLM has a few 18 year old B777's which still look great.

The IFE and seat design look modern. The cabin overall look modern. I think they just need to pull the seats, give them a deep clean and replace the seat padding. A refurbishment would be sufficient... Josh obviously haven't gotten on EVA, China Airlines or Korean Air' A330. Those truly look lousy.

I once had the same strange noise, when I tried to reach for the priority pass customer support, so who/or whatever they have sitting at the end of the line, it's not making a good job 😂

Airline dire need of privatisation just as the entire nation

As an ex ground handling staff at Heathrow for Qatar Airways(5 *)Cabin cleaning is done by local GHA at that particular airport(Frankfurt)nominated by Airlines for the turn around.Even at LHR cleaning is a quick job until plane is returned to its base(in this came CMB)for a thorough cleaning.food is the same,cooked in Frakfurt,therefore it'll be a European Curry with mash potatoes.If you had travelled to SL before you would know Lion beer is pretty much only main beer around.Dated plane,hospitable crew is spot on assessment.

I flew this airline MANY times when it was Air Lanka, Abu Dhabi/London and also AUH/BKK, fantastic airline!!
