Srinagar, a city of gardens, lakes and history:

On this day, we decided to go around Srinagar. In our guide Mostak Bhai's auto, we went to visit some Mughal gardens on the banks of Dal Lake in the old city. On the way I stopped at the narrow channel of Dal Lake where it joins the big main lake for Shikara ride. Our guide took us to various places on the lake including floating houseboats, floating markets. A bunch of pankauris peeked out of the lake occasionally, a floating lotus garden. It was nice to see the life of floating people. A Kashmiri girl was also seen riding the Shikara. The houseboats look very nice. As it was winter, the desire to spend the night in the houseboat had to be suppressed. The hunter showed us a houseboat and told us that the shooting of the film Mission Kashmir has taken place there. I saw some beautiful handicrafts and clothes made in Kashmir at the floating market. After the shikara ride, Mostak Bhai took us to the rest of the places - Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, Hazratbal Masjid, Old Srinagar, Nagin Lake. As it was closed, we did not go to Parimahal.
Going towards old Srinagar, Hazratbal Masjid was seen on the bank of the lake at the last border of Dal Lake. Hazrat Bal' (Urdu, Kashmiri: استان علیہ درگاه حزرت بل) is a holy religious site for Muslims, located in the city of Srinagar in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Hazratbal, one of the holiest shrines of Muslims, is located in Srinagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Muslims believe that "Baal" i.e. hair of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is preserved here. This religious place is named after the Urdu word "hazarat" meaning "venerable" and the Hindi word "baal" meaning "hair".
I ate bread with carrot halwa in the old city. The method of making this bread is also great. From there I went to see Nagin Lake. Nagin Lake is connected through a narrow canal where Dal Lake ends. Like Dal Lake, there are Shikaras and houseboats here.
In the evening I returned to the main city and went to buy Kashmiri shawls for everyone in the house.
