that happens to me at shows all the time.. its classified as worst case scenario thinking. for instance, in my mind one bad jump = a completely awful lesson. there are a lot of things that can help with that, but as dumb as it sounds visualization is super helpful. not just visualizing it going well, but actually imagining a problem (like missing to a bigger oxer) and how you need to ride through that and move forward so that if it actually happens your brain is able to move past it and fix the issue. hopefully that helps a bit!
it's definitely about perspective. I have confidence issues too, but just keep reminding yourself how far you've come in the long run. would yourself a year ago today be proud of you? probably! and it's never as bad as you think, the .85's are honestly big to me so i'm impressed with u doing those even though that's a disappointment for you.
I’m a swimmer and I get stuff like that at meets and a lot of my coaches have suggested sports psychologists to help properly process things that happen in competition❤ Edit: to everyone who knows someone like that don’t try and get them to calm down by saying calm down just let them know that you’re there for them
You rode so well and worked through everything!! We're the toughest on ourselves but you always keep trying and making progress! I have a couple tips for mental breakdowns/nerves. The first is to treat your rounds mentally as a schooling round and go in with the expectation that whatever happens will happen, and it is all an opportunity to learn from. And my other tip is just to build confidence and consistency that will carry forward and that is to pick a class/height or division etc for each horse that you feel very comfortable at and commit to it for a predetermined period of time with your trainer, maybe 3 months, 6 months etc. Something that is enough work that both you and the horses still feel accomplished and they respect the jumps. The psychology of this is that with horses, variables constantly change and then we can become nervous, lose confidence etc and it affects our ride and how our horses respond. So by keeping the variable of the height the same, you are creating a sense of consistency and familiarity around it so your brain can take it's limited resources to respond to other changing variables, remove the pressure of moving up, feeling discouraged if you move down, schooling higher than you feel comfortable at the show etc. The goal is developing the mental neural connections to successfully ride through hiccups until your brain knows it can handle any hiccup successfully. And sooner than you think, it will all just become second nature :) You want to feel the rounds have become boring and uneventful before moving up to a height that is challenging so that by the time you do, that new height is the only new variable you're working through. You're doing amazing! It can feel boring doing the same classes and heights repetitively, but repetition and consistency absolutely builds confidence for horses and riders, and a short period of time to take building these skills will set you up for success and ultimately you will reach your goals more quickly in the long run! I hope these tips help and make sense
thank you for the advice💗💗💗the truth is i’ve been taking it slow for the last 12ish years and it’s gotten me essentially nowhere which i no isn’t true even just typing it right now. really i think it’s more of a mindset thing for me . my horses are both confident up to like 1.30m at home and im perfectly fine but when one thing goes wrong i think all the years of disappointment and frustration just really weigh on me
omg u literally ate i love you so much u are by far my favorite youtuber and i have watched this video over 10 times u are my biggest inspiration! i hope you keep making vlogs when you show during college and i hope to be as good of a rider as you some day! thank you for being such a great inspiration!
Yaaay! New video! Loving the long videos. 😍 How are you enjoying the new Samshield? I just bought a One K Avance but I wore a Miss Shield in the past (I did the opposite as you) and don’t know which I like better. I can relate to the riding anxiety. I actually was in sports therapy for awhile after I had a bad fall and got dragged about 20 feet in college. It’s easy to be our biggest critics when everything gets so intense in our minds. You’re a great rider, hang in there!
i have confidence issues in volleyball and what i do is think of all of the good times and everything i’ve come through. if you remind yourself of all of the good things that have happened the bad things seem a little smaller.
Tu es un beau cavalier! (Am I helping with your placement test? 😂) You ARE good enough! You DESERVE to be there! In you're last vlog I commented that you looked like you been jumping 1.10 forever and I meant it. You got this!!
Yes GIRLL! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE KENTUCKY HORSE PARK. I was actually there today watching the novice show jumpers and xc. I was going to watch the jr leauge horse show but then I was like, nahhh😭. Anyways, I love your vlogs and you should come to the ky horse park a lot more. It’s so fun to show and compete there, I go a lot because I live in Kentucky and I live about 15 mins away from it. I’m sad I didn’t get to go to breyerfest or the 3 day event, but just coming to the horse park in general cures my depression🤣❤️🩹🤍
hi I will be subscribing to you I just came across your channel and thought you have good vids.😀 I don't know if you take requests for vids not like shorts but vids bc i have some ideas in mind such as.... 1. Pole work with your horses videos (Pinterest have good ideas search pole work for horses). 2. Grooming your horse. 3. Tacking up your horse then going for a ride. 4. Day in a life as owning horses (like if you go to school when you come home you say something like i just got home from school and now its time to head to the barn then show us what you do at the barn) 5. GoPro trail rides/or GoPro anything (if you have a GoPro if you don't then that's fine) If you can't do these then i understand
How long have you been jumping for? I don't mean anything insulting by this btw, I'm just curious because you seem really good (I've only watched a few videos), and i want to be as good as you
@@carokeating that's a lot of dedication! I've been riding for 10 years, but I've never been able to jump before. I'm hoping to start soon though. Thank you for telling me. This should help me make a reasonable timeline for myself
