The Lane Victory is a great ship to tour. I had the pleasure of cruising to Santa Catalina aboard the Lane Victory, along with my dad and brother. My dad had been a US Navy Water Tender 2c in WWII and he loved seeing the boilers and engine room in action. Thank you for some wonderful memories.
Great ship to tour. Volunteer staff were laid back and pretty much the whole ship was wide open to self guided tours. I got to climb around the engine room for a while and chat with some of the guys doing maintenance work. For a ship of its age it's amazing how much still works. Great Navy museum in the cargo holds. If you're in San Pedro it's a great way to spend a few hours or all day.
