Omar Sharif It's not a "reflex" when a person is standing there or doing what you told them to do. "Reflexes" could be demonstrated in a full contact spar, which of course this guy would never do.
That's probably because you thought you tried it, but really tried something else. I'm not being a smartass. There are major differences between Systema strikes and what most people think of as martial arts strikes.
Okay for anyone that is asking questioms yes this is systema. Systema for all you that dont know is a russian based martial art that is said to have orginated from the cossacks. Either way its a self defense type of "system" but is famous for its extensive use in the russian unit spetsnaz. Because of its use in combat (korean systema for special units/swat/etc.) There are elements of other martial arts like jeet kune do as well and thus making an effective and diverse martial art.
DK Yoo is the best martial artist ive seen since the late Bruce Lee, I will be following all DK's videos and training methods, I love to have a martial arts teacher like DK Yoo
every martial arts is good, like the master BL said, you pick something out of technique whats useful for yourself and mix it with another style, systema, krav maga even bjj are self-defense sports..this is pure for self-defense and than exploding to attack.. mma and boxing or muay thai is a different kind of martial arts... you cant compare that..
This guy knows his stuff, these are drills and mock attacks that displays the ferocity of the counter attack, in real life nobody is gonna attack in those manner. He is showing us the concepts and not form as there are no forms in this sort of fighting style. He definitely knows how to use "CHI" in his attacks, notice the "inch punch" and many more that he delivered? "Chi" is not mumbo jumbo its the transferring of energy to one focal point to generate more power.
U know if I read SYSTEMA and dont know the martial art, i think of the word system in some other language. Its not like its called something with -box- with it. I also dont think of tee when I read Muay Thai but some might do that, even if its on the fucking title.
+ItzChrisiXx It is in fact translates like "system". Full name of it is "Systema Specnaz" that you can translate as "Special forces system", that's all

Looks effective enough for unarmed combat, but the knife parts doesn't look good at all. He just ignores the knifes, keeps letting his stomach unguarded and in range of knife all the time. The worst case is at 0:50 when the knife more or less is touching his side, any kind of moment from the opponent might cut/stab his gut.
He is concentrating on explaining the punch. Of course he would take care of the right hand as well as he then illustrates in the next step. It's an instructing 1, 2, 3 thing. Of course all this would be one quick flow if he wanted but nobody could process all of this at once. And check his thumb at 0:51, he his pinching a pressure point. Check it out yourself, you will have a hard time generating any force with your hand - especially after having been punched in the face, plus he wouldn't stop there in real life. All of this looks very easy, but there are so many small details that make this system work. I am lucky enough to privatly train with an ex Russian special forces guy for a couple of months now and even after 2 decades of doing martial arts I feel like a beginner when with him. You learn to gain perfect control over somebody elses body. Being well experienced that guy here makes it look simple (which is part of the training) but it really isn't at first. One thing is for sure though: you generate the same amount of force subjectively using way less energy. I am still trying to figure out how this can work, but it definitely does..
at 0:46, man how the fuck is he flinging and retracting his fist that fast?? its like this guy has mastered explosive burst of energy to do that, reminds me of the Mantis shrimp
Now prove it works in a NHB (no holds barred) fight. Until then. Its all showy gimmicks. Lots of martial arts myths fell in UFC 1. Many more would if they had the balls to fight for real.
Finally. Finally after 10 long years I have found this man. I encountered him at a local bar, the Whispering Quoff. I had just gotten myself a redbull vodka when this Asian man bumps into me, sending my favourite drink splashing all over my finely popped collar. Flying into a rage, I put my motorcycle helmet on and presumed to stab this bro. But the strangest thing happened. Just before I could touch him, time froze, and he beat the living shit out of my paralysed ass. He even slipped a plastic air baseball bat at pounded me with great speed. I have since gotten a black belt in benevolent ass kicking and why are you still reading this...?
do you see the black motorcycle helmet at the end? do you see how cracked it is? Motor cycle helmets are supposed to be hard enough to protect your head from car accidents (or in this case motor cycle accident). Therefore when this man punches you, he is punching you with a car accident in his fist.
People can hate Systema all they want but this guy truly has mastered his body and can generate astonishing power and speed. I've never seen anything quite like it.
All the people talking shit about him really don't think huh? He trains the korean swat! Do you really think he couldn't fuck up the average person? Try hitting someone in the head while they are wearing a motorbike helmet and telling me his hands aren't like concrete! The fact that if you watch him it looks like he is putting fuck all effort in because it is just a demonstration and he doesn't want to destroy the guys he is training so imagine what he is like when he isn't holding back!
Hi guys, why are you confusing fighting with martial arts? The martial arts were meant to be used in war, and Systema is a set of techniques taught to Russian special forces. Yes Systema includes fighting techniques, but not only. It also includes disarming, movement, breathing and so on. If you go to see some other video you may note that the movements are meant to be as sneaky as possible, in order to reduce the possibility of alert other "enemies". Excluding MMA and similar sports, in real life punching and kicking isn't always the best way to stay alive when someone wants to hurt you.
This will not be easy a lot of what can see is a lot self-defense and boxing and other martialarts in your systems, and you are very skilled as well but this is not the same as boxing or going up against an MMA Fighters or any full contact fighter being tested under pressure in just sparring alone can be tough. good luck to you both much respect .
Self defense is all about master your reflexes and speed, you don't need to be strong to defeat a bigger opponent, just be faster and ready for him to retaliate your defense moves, I'm not saying its easy tho, almost anyone can beat me up but its coz im lazy and dont care ;P
