@@flashyturnip7730 I know. That set looked like it was filmed with a potato off stream but you could hear the people cheering for the Nut to make the biggest upset. Instead, Leo didn’t drop another game (not set, game) the entire tournament after. Edit: spelling
The problem is that Kurama’s strengths over other top players usually comes from some of the scariest and trickiest grounded neutral ever. Even when he jumps it’s usually a short hop into a landing aerial, he fights opponents when they’re grounded. But you can’t do that to little mac
I’m pretty sure the strategy is almost the same for every character against Mac. Camp ledge, throw him off, and gimp his recovery. Easier said than done tho.
Believe it or not but Mac actually excels against most brawlers. Plus his moves are insanely fast and/or have super armor, making him tricky to fight up close and personal. He really struggles with projectiles, in the air, and getting back on stage, which 90% of the roster can take advantage of.
This is the exact sequence of events or me: -See’s Peanut little Mac vs. a Mario player Me: “oooh I’m interested” - realizes the Mario player is FREAKING KURAMA Me: “I have to watch this, and I have to watch this RIGHT NOW!”
Could be. Mac is fantastic at the very limited things he could do in his short range, while Mario is "only" great to decent at everything in his short range, so it makes a certain sort of sense.
it is even.. mario doesnt have the best edge guarding in the game so its harder to cheese stocks if mac recovers from below.. and the super armor beats a lot of mario approaches
I think it mainly comes down to Mario has short range so he can struggle to get his combos started due to Mac's speed and armor on most of his grounded attacks.
I was pleasantly surprised by this. Saw the timestamp and thought little Mac would be getting curbstomped. I think kurana didn't know the matchup. But second match you could tell he was getting the hang of it. Props to peanut!
That first game was insanely one sided. There were a few times where Kurama just stopped and looked at the sky like "what am I doing??". Like it actually looked like how that one uncle you have just comes over and absolutely steamrolls you at family reunions. This game is so well balanced... bottom 3 character can still absolutely handle a top tier.
1:31 You can see that Kurama has his shield shifted slightly down, which is good because that prevents any shield pokes from Little Mac's down tilt. Somehow, Mario gets hit anyway, which tells me that Kurama dropped shield / initiated a dodge at frame perfect bad timing.
Man, it did feel like Kurama had little clue what to do vs. Mac. It is generally just feinting approaches to get Mac to come closer to Mario for him to juggle Mac either w/ bair or grab because his tilts & smashes are surprisingly safe vs. Mario normally, forget you can occasionally mash nair in disadvantage low %, but not that often nor does it work that much when Mac's combos are true more often than not and then just assessing whether they'll immediately side b back to stage or counter, which FLUDD, yeah, likely the play for both, if not bair, cape, etc. Peanut did mad well using side b to cover platforms and make it safe for him to land under as well while killing some of the platform camping.
Mac forces other characters to play by his rules. A combination of insane ground speed, great tilt attacks, good super armor, and insane comeback potential, alongside awful air options and bad recovery, makes for an unique play style of staying on the ground and forcing your opponent to find a way to get you in the air. Mac’s play style manages to be super predictable yet also very creative in how Mac players find ways to recover and land crucial KO punches. He is a character who looks super busted but is balanced by equally devastating nerfs that keep him in bottom tiers. However, watching how players like peanut use this bottom tier at this level of play is extremely fun to watch as a viewer, and is one of the many examples of why ult is such a great game
Game 1 is easily the hardest I’ve ever seen Kurama get matchup checked; in particular, dude did not respect how good Mac’s UpB is as an out-of-shield option Game 2 is more illustrative of how low-key even (and fun!) this matchup is: Mac’s punishing ground attacks versus Mario’s combo heavy aerials A dominant three-stock plus a clutch last-hit dub equals a VERY deserved 2-0
As a mario main, kurama did NOT play the matchup right. Especially in this matchup, it's much more important to play grounded, patient, and to make sure that mac plays your game rather than his. It's also important to realize that damage isn't too important if you can just gimp him
I swear Mario loses to Little Mac…! None of Mario’s tilts help, fireball doesn’t seem to work for approaching, aerials get armored through or lose in trades, and grabs seem tough to obtain. Juggling Little Mac isn’t as easy as it seems, edgeguarding is your only option but you need to get him offstage first… 😅
It’s hard to use cape against a vertical upB like Mac’s. For FLUDD to work, kurama would have to squirt Mac while he’s NOT doing SideB (very high-priority move). Mac is such a fast faller that the FLUDD window basically doesn’t exist
You could tell that Kurama didn't know the MU, cuz how many good little mac's are people really coming across that are of Peanuts level 😂😂😂, it's like going up against SkyJay's Incin or KirbyKid's K. Rool imo
When I think of this matchup in my head, I think about Mac getting thrown offstage and gimped via flood and cape. Not Mac's Frame 3 combo breaker and antiairing Mario from hell and back. 😅
Mario has 1 camping move lol, fireball. In the first game Kurama tried to camp with fireball to avoid KO punch, and Peanut parried the fireball like 5 times in a row before catching him on a platform anyway
So sad cant go in comments withiut spoilers there needs to be a fkipping timed chat function where uou only see comments before or at the video length yiu are at..... Bruh....
Then if people purposely avoid that wth they're truly spoiler dinguses that just don't care because of that things like ukraine war happen and north korea still existing because nobody cares enough to act?... hggg :c
Peanut is so *uckin intelligent its crazy..ik most people would say little mac carries but from the looks of it..Peanut carries Little Mac...and obviously little mac is trash in most scenarios which is probably why Peanut will never win a Major...Sadness
Actually I think that he's a low tier and not a Bottom Tier because Zelda up on Him Is Impossible.I know that Peanut and other good Little Mac mains Will beat up every Zelda in the world. Imagine to have a counter Versus Zelda, too OP versus her because Little Mac has a good counter.
@@4546Bean exactly, Man is just a kurama fanboy and expects that he’s just gonna win if another game was involved and I’m pretty sure peanut would of won eaither way, I like Kurama is just that peanut knew every way to punish him I’m pretty sure that kurama had no way of winning.
oh wow little mac might just be a bad matchup for mario. that 3 frame up b makes it so mario cant do combos easily. whats with the french commentary? I could undetstand if it was spanish but french is not a very popular language.
