why is it taking so long?? simple question they are developing fraymakers and ssf2, and knowing that ssf2 isnt paid or they dont get any money from it its really impressive that they still continue with its development after all these years and also improving the quality, so it really doesn't bother me if they take some time. but they better resprite dk tho
Can’t wait for the update! I just recently came back to playing SSF2 more often after ~4 months and it’s been great, having a new update would make things even more fun.
Reason I temporarily gave up on recording both Super Smash Flash 2 and Super Smash Bros Crusade - it's because of lack of updates as of late. While we did get a good chunk of new content in Crusade, however there are still problems with the game - mainly some character sprites. So they are in some way, in same situation as SSF2. Only difference there are a good number of resprites they must made. Because, people are not happy on some of them (Krystal is one of the worst offenders). As of SSF2, it's obvious is that update drought took a nasty toll on all of us. Also, doesn't help is that (like Crusade) some characters needs resprites like REALLY BADLY (a biggest offender being Lloyd). But not just resprites, but also a proper alternate palette skins. Because, sadly there are some characters who still has color tint system attached to them, which is NOT good. However, at least we now know is that Meta Knight, Zelda and Goku are getting brand new palettes in future. As of, if we are gonna get new SSF2 character - tough to say, but probably it's "MAYBE" situation. However, don't quote me on that one. Since we might not get new character. So, yeah... It sucks is that both my favorite Super Smash Bros fangames end up been quiet in regards of updates.
In the official ssf2 goku server, we analyzed the sreenshot, and if you look at the picture again you can see goku has a shadow and naruto hasn't, because goku is grunded and naruto is in the air, so probably this is a resprite (and i think the move is jab 3 or ftilt)
I give all my respect to Smash Devs who are continue this f2p project i can wait for the 1.3.2 , with your explications i can understand logically why ! Thanks Inari keep work on your videos bro.
I really hope to play this new update. I have been playing since SSF1 and the early builds of SSF2 around 7.0, but I did play 1.0. I like how the devs are willing to explain themselves. I miss Steven and some of the devs, some I don't care for.
If they ever stop updating this game I need them to release Mewtwo first 😭😭 He's my main in every Smash Bros game except Brawl and this is the one he's not in
Honestly im kinda worried if the hud changes because it would make my best footage awkward to mesh together in videos, otherwise bring it on! Honestly, i preffer slower patches than whatever we got during 2020. It gives time to adapt balance wise. And they definitively should still focus on fray imo
I, for one, really like that the devs are so focused on using this update as a way to update as much old content as possible, even if it means us not getting that much new content (It very much feels like what happened with the base game of Smash Ultimate). Even if the changes they show aren’t changes I particularly care about or want, they’re still breathing new life into a game that’s gonna turn 17 this Christmas. Also, I might be in the minority here, but I don’t think Goku is gonna get changed that much. He’s such a hugely played character that the devs might see heavily reworking him to be insulting to those fans. I instead think that he’s gonna get the same treatment that Naruto’s been getting, with most of his animations redone to feel less stiff with only a few moves getting flat-out replaced. Instead, I think the “one last thing” they’re gonna reveal for this update is gonna be a resprite for Lloyd, Fox, or both. They’re the only characters we haven’t seen in any promotional material for this upcoming update! I also think maybe we could see the debut of echo fighters. They could be like, “hey, we don’t have any full newcomers to show off, but I’m the meantime, here’s Shadow, Porto Man, and Ken with more coming in future updates!” and that could be enough to appease people who just want new stuff without sinking too much time into it.
Watching this in the beginning of June… I’m concerned. Screenshot Saturday has now been on break for eight weeks, making this the longest of the three hiatuses since the Development Report back in August 2023 (and not to mention, the screenshots posted since then have by and large been just showing off things they’ve already shown before). The devs basically going radio silent right after missing their hopeful deadline of Q1 2024 is… not a great look, and as rude as it sounds, I honestly don’t blame fans for getting upset at them. And this leads into the bigger concern: If the devs really do have something huge waiting in the wings (like a new fighter, a major resprite, or new mode), odds are it’s gonna leak. Fans got so impatient back during the wait for Beta that they leaked a bunch of stuff (including the inclusion of Pac-Man and Pit, hence their announcement in an emergency dev blog), and it eventually got to a point where the devs were so hurt by the leaks that they decided to drop the update in an unfinished state to get the leakers off their backs. When I say “unfinished” I’m not only referencing the amount of bugs present on day one, but the fact that Yoshi’s resprite, Palutena’s Shrine, Sandbag Basketball, and the updated victory screen were all intended to be there and had to get pushed back. However, they have quite literally said that they can’t do smaller updates this time, so that’s not an option. But if they don’t have that much left to show outside of a video fully breaking down the updates to Goku… I wouldn’t blame fans for being dissatisfied with the update. I wouldn’t be one of them, I think all the changes to the existing fighters and stages look incredible and do so much to inject life into the game, but plenty of fans just want brand new content, and looking at it through their eyes, the “new” content announced has been: - 1 fully resprited veteran - 1 new stage - 7 new music tracks - 3 new items - 1 new assist trophy - 2 new target tests Which is nothing to scoff at, but waiting almost three years for that would feel very underwhelming to those people.
Wait, if Goku is getting rework maybe that means one day Bomberman will be too. Out of all the newcomers in SSF2 i felt he had the most wasted potential in moveset and sprite design. (Also i'm praying for the devs to make Ganon float)
I want them to update the training mode menu a bit Where you can just spawn whatever Assist characters, pokemon, food varities that you want, without just randomly spamming the same item over and over again Thatd be great
Im honestly really curious to how patch frequency will operate after this one releases lol I would love for the small balance patches to be a thing but i fear we may just enter another drought
Finally! I hope we get Adventure Mode, though. Now this may be far in the future, but if we do get a Story Mode, I wonder what its name will be, since FoS(Flash of Shadows) got scrapped.
Whatever the case I just hope that the story mode is nothing like The Dumpster Fire that is World Of Light from Ultimate Please Give me something akin to Subspace Emmisary From Brawl or a Mortal Kombat style story mode
Problem is it's also gonna take a long time to make. And like it's already mentioned in video - it's a passion project. And also doesn't help is that burnout is inevitable, if they'll work on SSF2 non-stop. Oh, yeah - I forgot to mention. In order to EVEN make Story Mode or something like that - we need ALL programmed-in characters for that (both starters AND unlockables). Otherwise, we might get "Sonic been late in Subspace Emissary " situation.
Here are my predictions: 1. The update drops in Early 2024 (so right now that's March or April) 2. The update drops in Mid 2024 (so May to August) I HONESTLY HOPE that the update will be worth this 2+ years long wait!
I have a feeling that in future updates, for 2024, they should add in the new characters from Project B like Cloud, Terry, Inuyasha, X, Mewtwo, Lucas, Knuckles, Shadow, Toad, Koopa Troopa, Lilac, Amy Rose, Isabelle from animal crossing, Wii Fit Trainer, King Dedede, and Ice Climbers, and even Crono from super smash flash EXE. They should add those characters in SSF2 Beta Version, and they should also giving Terry a final smash in this game as well. If they can do that, that would be amazing😁😁😁
yeah it was unlikely to come in release in march... we are on june (in 5 days) i just hope the update releases soon. i hope it gets released on july or june
I would like them to include all the missing characters from Melee That is to say Ice Climbers Dr. Mario (Either as a separate character with a new moveset or as Mario Skin) Young Link (With a new moveset so as not to be a copy of Link) Mewtwo And Roy I also hope they put classic stages from the Smash games and not so much new original stages. And finally, what I'm looking forward to the most, the Skins for everyone, the Break The Target for everyone, a stage for Waluigi, and Resprites for characters like DK, Fox, Lloyd, Etc. We'll see what we'll have :")
It's only 2 day in March! Do you think the new update will be released in the remaining 2 days? (the hope in my heart says yes, but common sense says the opposite)
So here's the issue. If the patch is taking THIS LONG and it's just resprites and balance changes you are not bringing much attention to the game. They need like a small new character something that wouldn't take a lot of effort to make. People love new characters even if they are "echos"
