its called Focus attack dash cancel(FADC) when the shoryuken hits or is blocked you immediately hit focus attack and dash this requires 2 meter not including the meter for the ex shoryu if you chose to use the ex version, you have to do it pretty fast and there are some short cuts like holding forward and focus attack at the same time then only tapping forward once to dash out of the ex focus attack
This is cool man! I have favorited this video. My favorite Kara is the Ex Air Tatsumaki, Ken looks like he is flying! it's mad cool. And the tripple shoryuken's into ultra was fun to watch.
@veganwaffle And for kara throw, you have to "Plink" (Pressing the button slightly earlier or 1 frame earlier) Medium Kick with Throw. Means before throwing you have to press MK 1 frame apart. I would suggest you to start the game with the basic combos then start focusing on Kara's. And if you have any confusion tell me. Thanks for watching.
This video has to be the best tutorial video I have seen on Ken Masters! You the man and should be getting paid for this. They should be banging gongs as soon as you enter rooms becasue of this video! Much respect man.
Actually, you can. It's the only way to do kara med. shoryuken, kara med. hadoken. Other than that it doesn't seem too practical to rely on HK. But from what i can tell, using towards+MK gives you the most range. Hope this helped!
Kara is actually a little extended distance that provides Ken in Different moves, Kara throw is like he catches the opponent with more distance, kara focus is he dashes from hadokens with little more distances and steps and same goes for Kara shoryuken and kara hadouken.
Absolutely sick stuff, Saad bhai! :D I was hoping you'd throw in Kara Shoryuken or two, but I never expected anything THIS spectacular! Amazing job, keep it up! BTW, LOVE the combo at 2:05. :D
@Rynqu Thanks alot for appreciating :) I am trying to find a good HD recording device since its hard to find in Pakistan. And I'm glad the video helped you in someway. :) Thanks again ^^
@veganwaffle Sure, Kara is actually a move or technique that helps Ken to Cover a Little More Distance in a particular move than he actually does. Ken has alot of Kara's. Like, Kara Throw(V.useful), Kara Focus(somewhat useful) Hadoken(not too useful),Shoryuken(useful). It helps in covering more distance and mostly opponent gets confused of it. If you use "Arcade Stick" you can do these Kara throws & etc by using a technique called "Plinking"(See VesperArcade tutorials if you don't know Plinking)
Thank you for the vid, it really helped out actually on some of my online play. Not gonna lie, I feel pretty badass when I can score that combo at 1:48 though it took me awhile to actually get it down.
It has little strict timing. You have to do it little early. I know most of the time it lands on the same side, but try hitting cr.hp a bit early with lk.tatsu it will land as crossup.
You can on some characters. You are right that it has an 8-frame start-up, while far LP is only +7 on hit. But, due to the animation/hit-boxes of some characters, far LP can connect on its second active frame which would give you +8 advantage instead. That's why it can still work in certain situations. :)
Thanks for your good words, the SRK to interrupt the non true block strings would LP Srk and HP Srk, LP is good because of its recovery and also it's 3 frame i believe, and HP is good because of Priority and it can be FADC'd into Ultra. And Best true block string? I don't have best answer for it but maybe jabs and shorts? :s Anyway, thanks for liking and stay tuned for Cody upcoming Tutorial! ;)
For not having any direct recording hardware your video feed looks very good. A lot of times you'll get people who have the camera at really terrible angles and it almost ruins the video. Well done. Good show on those Ken mixups, too. That jumping fierce near the beginning looked ambiguous as hell, and those light tatsus, man. Now I know some things to look out for when I fight Kens.
Hey xSonicflashx, I was wondering are these combos character specific only [besides the sweep combos]? Because I understand they are spacing depndant depending on how deep your jump-ins are. Like the combo at 0:46 for example on Sagat.
Do a Shoryuken into Focus Attack Dash Cancel Which means you have to do a focus attack (Medium Punch +Medium Kick) after the Shoryuken. Then dash forward... Spend some time in the Trial modes and you'll be fine
"Kara" and its purpose is to own people... Extend Ken's throw range by performing the input to do his step kick and then piano key link into the inputs to do a throw and voila, you've just executed a kara throw... You can also kara hadoken, kara shoryuken and my personal favorite, the kara ex air tatsu...
You mean, what to mash during your opponents careless offense?, any 3 frame DP (Light or Heavy. Medium and Ex are 4 frame but its a DP, there's invincibility so it doesn't matter tooo much, also the multi hitting ones allow you to FADC on reaction
At 3:10, when Ken Fadc's after the netraul jump crumple and resets with a cr.hp x lk tatsu. How do you get it to cross up? I never land on the opposite side, only the same side.
Thanks bro for appreciating mate. Well whenever i got free time i just went to training mode and did combos of Ken. Not to discover new stuff, but just to enjoy. With time i learned a lot of stuff and made it's video. And yeah, i have ps3 you can add me X_SonicFlash_X But since i am from Pakistan, i doubt the connection would be good :s
@RickyRicardo10001 Thanks bro. And i use TE stick and Pad both. Most of these combos were performed by T.E though, And i had 4K PP back in Super. Then i stopped playing ranked matches and sticked to Endless. lol. And that was with Guile. Ken is my secondary character. ;)
I'm not sure but i think the opponent should only by airbourne after the last one. So you cancel the first hit of SRK and don't knock them into the air for the first two.
You can play "normal" as you say, you can win that way too.. Street Fighter was originally designed for action & reaction... You make an offensive action against your opponent, he reads this action & reacts accordingly... You don't have to learn plinks or double-taps to win... These things are just there for the people that are bored playing normal and they're pushing their own limits to keep the game interesting to them... Plus it just looks cool... :)
It is very situational and character specific. I might make a new video where i'll show on which characters it's possible. And Thanks for liking video :)
@Nyantamashii It has strict timing. Its not too useful in a real match imo, because more chances are that u will miss it.. Its just good in styling purpose i think. ;)
@zzdeuszz Sure, It's definitely easier to link for crouching opponent. And honestly, i haven't been able to connect HK after FADC on a standing opponent. I don't know if its possible or not. That's why i used crouching opponent.
I have the HARDEST time linking his normal combo strings. Like going HP to Crouching MK or something. Why arent they as easy as going MP to HP lol XD Is there a secret to the timing Im just not getting to link the other stuff?
I think he was simply asking if it was possible to perform these combos online... Lots of people think there's some sort of universal lag, regardless of how fast your internet connection is, that prevents you from being able to perform certain links online... Personally, I've never noticed any such thing... Anyways, it's my belief that everything that you can do offline can be performed online as well... If you suffer from many lag issues then get yourself a better internet connection...
So how do I cancel those shoryukens? Im completely new to this since ive been a teken player all my life but both games are great so I wanna start learning how to do combo's in sf too
any tips on how to ex tatsu after H. dp fadc. can't for the life of me seem to do it. maybe i'm just not inputing the tatsu correctly and the dash and jump?
Hmm, you can crouch against Ryu's tatsu and I think Akuma's too, though it is much harder than against Ken's. Still it's possible. What sucks is that Ken tatsu is punishable even if you're standing. If the opponent throws, Ken can't tech it. Ryu's safe, Akuma is only safe with HK tatsu, but Ken is punishable every time. And if you play a shoto against Ken, just mash that dp fadc into ultra. Works every time.
I'm good, but i've played against people that made me feel like a training dummy, so if there are any questions to these moves being possible in online gameplay, I would say yes, very possible.
